Bro either your friend was fooled by svc people or he was fooling you !!
Smoke from exhaust means either incorrect carb tuning , or clogged plugs, or chocked air filter or adulterated fuel , or carb needs cleaning ...

No dude...it wasn't coming from exhaust it was coming from somewhere behind the engine.....and also it was very little........ Apart from this my bike is smooth as silk.....it's my first bike and just 3 months old that's why I got little worried about it.....so..

            Hi Dude,
2 months back i took test drive of duke 390.
after returning to showroom, smoke came as if bike got fire from engine.
Then we noticed oil leakage on engine(i dont remember its oil or some other liquid falling on the engine). Due to too much heat duke 390 generated that smoke came.
Please check if its something like that.

            ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

I am getting tappet sound(taka taka) from engine as was the case with my pulsar 150.
When i asked in my native, Bajaj showroom guy and even other mechanic told its the case with all the new pulsar after 2011 or something.
They opened pulsar 150's engine top and did something and told me its tappet issue. It stopped giving sound but don't know its same issue or not.
I am assuming its tappet sound because its giving same sound.
Anyone else facing this? inputs are welcome

              • 200 NS 4th Service Queries & General Issues

                Hey Guys,

Query 1: I am in a dilemma with the 4th service of my bike; should i be giving to the Bajaj service center or to hand it over to a local mechanic. I had a very bad experience with the way the service is done at the Kalayani Bajaj. Let me know if anyone there is familiar with any good mechanic near mathikere or close by.

Query 2: Currently i am running on a semi synthetic Motul 15W50 engine oil. Should i top up with a fully synthetic one? What is preferred other than Motul?

Query 3: I see some leakage from the engine; not sure if it is the oil leakage or the excess fuel flow which would be seen in a traditional carburetor? Is somone faced with similar issue? One of the mechanic suggested me to replace the engine seal. Is this what i should be doing?

Query 4: The performance of the breaks seem to have decreased gradually over the usage. What's the ideal time for replacement of break pads or is there anything else i could do for this?

Query 5: I had two puncture within 200kms of my ride on my rear tyre. This was fixed by using a tyre puncture kit. However i see that, after filling up the air to 36 psi, the air comes down to 16 psi within a week's time. Any suggestion how to fix it?

                ODO: 12500kms
                Oil: Motul 15W50

theres a spring loaded roller which holds the gear shift guide in place
your spring or roller is damaged or missing
is your gear changing pedal very smooth?
you need to go to the service centre right away

No...gear shifting is actually hard and makes much noise when shifting gear...sometimes need to press one or two times inorder to shift a gear down...

Is sounds coming during acceleration, then it will be tappet noise or timing chain
Same thing happened with me krr krr sound is coming from engine head
That was tappet noise. And Try other svc or mechanic if you are not satisfied

Sound is coming from engine head only.
Its audible even during idle when the engine is turned on.
In 200NS it just started coming so it is not audible during acceleration.

Just for Info : Same thing happened in my pulsar 150. Intially it was low but after some time it gradually increased.
after a long trip it increased like anything. Service guys only told its tappet sound.
200 NS is my new bike, not even 2 weeks old. I have done 380+ km. Service not yet done.

Don't see an issue unless its very evidently audible like it was in ur P150. Even I have owned one in the past..

My 200NS is only a couple months old.. Before my 1st service even I noticed a slight tappet like sound but it vanished after 1st service.. If u see the detailed list of 1st service, one of the items is Tappet adjustment.

Bottom line.. Do not worry if the bike is running smoothly.. Just make ur service advisor aware of it during ur 1st service and they shud get it sorted..

Enjoy your ride.. P200NS is a delight to ride.. Just waiting for mine to complete 2000kms so that I can take it to the Red Line... Cheers..

Nvr do that.. First of all, you might void the warranty.. Second n most important.. First service is supposed to be done as suggested by the Bajaj. I wud advice you shud do it as soon as you complete 550 kms.. And have peace of mind till 4000 odd kms... Post 100 odd kms after my 1st service the bike started running very smoothly.. By the end of 1000 odd kms (now approx 1140) i have started pulling it to 5k RPM but not more than that.. And generally do it in 5&6 gears only.. It responds awesome..

Planning to soften my rear suspension as a couple of back to back weekend rides have given me spondylosis issue.. But Its getting better.. Otherwise all good so far.. Make sure u carry out ur first service somewhere between 550-650kms
