Good to see you mention the negetives as well, and not go only by emotions.

The "Khat" noise that you mentioned is serious, if it comes from front forks.
The issue was reported by @Faffy and as I remember, his front forks were replaced during the 1st service. Please check.

about saddle height; I'm 5.9" as well, but I guess will manage.

Weight issue wont bother u much as time passes, and u get used to the weight/ bike.

About, bike swaying, it also depends on your body balance as well. Dont even bother about it, as it will never effect your riding.

Do follow up with all the issues during your service, and keep us updated.

Also, can u please tell about your feel on the low end torque of the bike??

Thanks guys. Problem with NS is its got higher saddle + some weight together. Had it been only one of it, I guess things would have been much easier. But certainly things are not out of control. I could easily control bike in 2nd gear with clutch in traffic through narrow gaps without touching feet down. Its a matter of getting used to.

Sadly, NS is poor on low end torque. I can not put it exactly how much. But, coming from ZMA, low end torque was definitely going to be a problem. I knew this beforehand also felt it when test rode it for the first time. But at the same time, I am happy to put it here that bike performed in ghats effortlessly. I could easily climb some ascends in 4th gear it self. Very rarely I had to engage 2nd gear. I am talking about lonavala ghat here without a pillion.

As someone had asked, being 5.5" can be a problem? It is going to be tough for 5.5' people. But payeng has already demonstrated in his own blog about how to manage the bike with 5.5' height. So, go get yourself a good test drive. Keep your eyes open and brain alert, weigh +ives & -ives and then put your money.

      - that KHAT sound is from cone set .. slight tightening and adjustment will make it perfect
      - did u come across any misfire ?
      - all issues are minor ones and will be rectified .. same issues as duke ... dukes had same issues in initial stages but all dukes from june batch onwards are troublefree .. verified it by contacting many dukers ..
      - and about bike swaying to the left ,,, ask the svc people to check the wheel balncing.. place the bike on main stand and keep the handle straight .. see if the handle slowly turns towards left ..

yes i know .. duke is meant to be ridden hard and despite that , people are getting around 35 ... 60 is extreme but i just meant that it is possible ... it will most probably vary between 35-45 under right mix of sane riding + insane riding ...
Thanks. I have planned to visit service center on Wednesday morning as I want to personally see bike getting serviced. Not that I don't trust SVC people, but I need to get to know few things so I can do them myself.

You may be right about wheel balancing. When checked, I could find rim balancer only on the left hand side. Could that be an issue? Are both things same?

About duke, I am sure its possible to get 50 kmpl if ridden at 60 considering its got low weight and FI. With 3 bars left on my fuel gauge, I am hoping to get 45 kmpl at least from NS. This is so sweet.

The duke rider seat is just so perfect for skinny guys like me... Though the bike is lighter than 220, i did feel the weight of the bike to be same and sometimes even more than the 220 because of the high seating position.... God knows why bajaj made the seat so wide and high and long...
Yes, wide seat can be a problem. But when you get used to the height & weight problem, you will see a better side of wide seat as roomy & comfortable seat.

In my opinion, I dont see a probability that Bajaj will be able to fix this one. Please opine on this.

Same here man. I never felt any issues while normal riding. I am sure it is not a major issue but just a mental block. Lets see what SVC has to say about this.

Headlights are good. But I am not sure if better than P220. theoretically, P220 has upper hand and I am planning to put P220 projector with current halogen. I fancy projectors for their focused beams.

Thanks for those pics & description and sorry for the experience. Being first has its shares of disadvantages. Your bike looks great in maroon.

Few more things that I forgot to mention last time.

      * Experienced false neutrals few times.
      * At times 2nd would not engage even though neutral indicator was off.
      * Gearbox is smooth otherwise. Can comment more about above 2 post 1st service as I assume engine oil as a cause.
      * Rear suspension was not that comfortable. Might try the softest setting.
      * Eurogrip tires have decent grip. During rains I never felt that tire was slipping / skidding at all when braked hard. (remember 60 kmph speeds)
      * Bike seems to be real good at off roading (with soft suspension, it could have been icing on cake).

Now my next post will be only after 1st service.

Yes, Sticker work at a place where there is constant mud and water splashed and also lot of abuse. Not sure how long sticker will last. Paint job would have been great.

Saw all the four colors in Khivraj Kasturba road.. I opted for red or blue color but when I saw the Yellow color fell in love with it, may be love at first sight happened for me ... Hope today will be the press release in Bangalore & deliveries starts from 19th of this month.

Ns built quality is good, sound roars Awesome, seats are bit broader,Dint like the body color sticker on mudgard as it was bit peel off from it. other wise metallic paint quality is superb, Suspension was very good but I felt the bike is bit heavy,

Waiting for my beast since March.
I am in love with the yellow color now , by the way what is your height ??

Oh no.. don't worry if you are a good rider you can handle this, in city traffic you need to balance the vehicle a bit.. take a test ride before buying..

noise when your tappets are loose or timing chain setting is bad.
I dont know exactly what sound you are talking about, but if its coming from the black cylinder head, i think its normal, Even i get that noise ,i checked it another two bikes and i was getting the same noise. When asked works manager, he said its normal coz of the four valves n al,it makes lil noise....i am not sure how much this is true.

Also, I heard that "khat" sound whenever front suspension would dive down or would jump back up. I remember another owner had reported this issue. Will have to dig in more to find out solution. But if any one can quote that post, I will
                            be really thankful.
it was me who had this issue... i am also not sure its the same issue which you are facing here...if you are saying it makes noise when you ride over some pothole at little higher speeds ,then i guess its normal... to confirm if its the same issue as mine, just press the front brake lever and push the vehicle down pressing the front suspension, if at the end postion of suspension travel you get some khat noise and suspension bounces back, then its same issue as mine. For this SVC manager said there is some problem with axle play and ball bearing and stuff, he changed the entire wheel from a new NS(not the forks,as somebody mentioned), after that this issue was not there...

It being new & yellow, a lot of people were attracted and asked price as well. This makes my grin grow even bigger.
yep it does attract hell lot of attraction due to many reasons... i had gone for a short bike trip with a blue NS owner, but people were hardly noticing his bike... once even a "thulla" (traffic cop) caught me saying is this a imported bike ,show me the documents and all...i had a hard time explaining him that its a new pulsar and a Bajaj bike
Below are some of the negatives I feel about the bike.
                            1. Saddle height. Its high and can create issue for a person with 5.9" as well.
                            2. Weight. At times it becomes dificult to manage somethings.
                            3. Bike swaying to left. I know people would ask WTH one would want to leave hands? But to be frank, does that mean a manufacturer can get away with this fault? From me, asnwer is certainly a big NO.
                            4. Engine kill switch kills spoodo power as well. (something which I can live witt).
                            5. Switch quaity is good but there can be usability issues (e.g. left side switches in-operable sometimes).
bike swaying little left is there, also it depends on how you are sitting , i was feeling the same, but when the SVC guy rode it, it was very much straight so i think the problem i was how i was sitting...

yep ,even i feel the same and being a ex-ZMA owner too, it was more evident

Even i had false neutral issue after riding continuosly for half n hour or so, it was rectified, though the Bajaj team did not mention what they changed n all, now i am not getting this isssue, but once a while i get it, may be i am not shifting properly.

And i dint find it good for off roading. Due to hard suspension it was terrible to ride at potholed Singhad fort road , but handling is great

triple spark tech is implemented to avoid the disadvantages of having a sohc for 4valves and to reduce emissions .. technically speaking , a carb is not even close to fi in terms of precision .. a carb in turn wastes more fuel ,, so to make optimum combustion of the fuel supplied , triple spark is used .. the number of spark plugs depend on the way the combustion chambers have been designed ... f1 cars , lambos , ferraris , audis , mercs dont feel the need for extra spark plugs just because the combustion chambers of their cars are designed that way .. triple spark is not a totally necessary tech .. do u really think bajaj tech is better than brands which have F1 and moto gp pedigree ??

True, the bike often turns off when you don't put enough throttle. It generally happens to me in 1st and 2nd gear. But, as you said - its like getting more used to your bike. So, no complaints for this.

Yeah, even I have faced this. The amount of pressure which I generally apply to gears for a shift up or down, sometimes 2nd gear just doesn't gets a switch. I have to again try to engage the 2nd gear, and then it works.

                                * Gearbox is smooth otherwise. True

                                * Rear suspension was not that comfortable. Might try the softest setting.
Yeah, we generally feel the potholes due to this hard setting. Even the bumpers give enough jerk if we don't pass over them very slowly. But, I doubt if the suspension being set to anything softer, it will effect the handling. I guess, I would want it the way it is. I just simply love the way my bike handles and specially around the corners.

                                * Eurogrip tires have decent grip. During rains I never felt that tire was slipping / skidding at all when braked hard. (remember 60 kmph speeds)
Very True, its has a very decent grip. In rains, I haven't seen my bike skid at all. On dry days, I had 2-3 slips. But its ok, as it was not anything major.

I have bought the bike from Fair Deal Bajaj, Ganesh Nagar and got it serviced from Fair Deal Workshop, Patparganj Industrial Area. But, its just that they were not ready. I guess things will be back to normal in 10 days time or so. I was just having a bad day. But, I had ensured to my limits, my bike doesn't misses any attention which it requires. I simply Luv my NS too much.

Yes, the side panel extended from the tank cover prevents it from direct filling. It has to be removed. Even the air filter if required to be cleaned, the tank cover and the petrol tank has got to be removed for the same. It is for this very reason, NS will take more time to service than other bikes.
