If you just want to clean the grime on the sprocket and the surrounding area, you can remove the two bolts holding the sprocket in place and then rotate slightly and remove the silver clip. Then, making sure the chain is loose enough, pull out the sprocket. along with the chain. After it comes out of the shaft, you should be able to take out the sprocket and clean it with an old cloth. Then, you can clean the surrounding area. Then, to put it back, place the chain on the sprocket in the same way it was before you took it out. Then, put the sprocket in along with the chain.
If you want to clean the chain completely, buy a chain cleaner and chain oil. You might have to remove more panels for full access to the chain setup. Then, put your bike on center stand then, rotate the rear wheel in reverse and apply the chain cleaner and then the chain oil in turn. I would also suggest removing any excess grease on the sides of the chain.
Make sure the chain is back to the ideal tension (about 1 inch play is usually recommended). For loosening and tightening chain, make sure your follow proper procedure. This video is a good guide:
