I am aware of this pain point, but i was so impressed with the simple but crisp review of surojit that i wanted to respond to it immediately and i forgot to shorten the referenced text.

Anway its my mistake and will ensure its not repeated.

yes .. everybody working at bajaj dealerships will be very curious about ns now ... they will try all sorts of things with it .. good strategy by you ...

@surojit -- oh .. that was what i was talking about .. so the rear mudguard is not effective enough ..that means pillon will get even more slush on the back and head ..i had lived with it till now ... but its ok .. looks good though ..

@Rahul : I will suggest you to wait for a month more as i heard Rahul Bajaj speak that they are planning a bigger launch in September / October. I wish it could be Duke 350 or Duke 690. Though he did reveal anything more about the september/october launch.

@Suro and others : I got my Centre Stand fitted today and they said the bike moving on the left is due to fork setting and they have rectified it in 10 bikes. So all of you guys can try that out. They said the company setting was hard and needed to be adjusted. They did setting on my bike but i did not try riding my bike without hands on it as it was raining here.

                    • anyway without deviating from the topic I can say only one thing...the heating issue is there very little, may be the bike I rode in Mumbai was not topped properly with the coolant may be something else but I rode like a very small 1-1.5 kms at a stretch....i felt engine is heating up...i do feel the heating in my fazer also but it was lil bit hotter like enfields....but I never faced such a problem in any Yamaha or Honda even ZMR.....I dont know why this happened....In my friends 220 also its not there....

Sadly the TD vehicle I was given was the unlucky 10th of the lot I guess Quite a lot of vibes after the 6k rpm range, and nearing 11k its a terror, especially to the pillion... Handlebars arent much affected, just the metal footpegs etc... So not much of a worry there... And to add to it, the run-in is yet to be done

Depends on how much time you are willing to wait, and how particular you are about the colours IMHO, I loved the Yellow, yet in regards to your query, according to my dealer, it comes once in 4 days, so you might have to wait for a maximum of a week for the colour of your choice (atleast in Mangalore)

                        • First impressions after the Test Ride

Hello guys, I'd like to share my opinions (and some of my friends' opinions) regarding this bike. Please bear with me for this long post

Since I'd been pestering the dealer at my place since December 2011, I managed to get the TD before the proper launch here in Mangalore (against my payment of 5000 in cash as advance booking.) Me and 4 of my friends had gone together to check out THE bike, before I actually bought it. Thanks to my confirmation of purchase, the dealer let me take an extended test ride (approx 75 minutes and around 45kms) Most of my friends took turns in riding the bike, not accompanied by dealer though. And I'd like to post our observations here... (most of em are similar to what others have posted, but still)

                          1) IMO, the Yellow one stands out the most, followed by the Red one, the blue one and finally the Black one (no offense)

                          2) During the course of our test ride, (Red) not many noticed the new bike, which was a bit strange :P

                          3) The bike looks refreshing, peppy and energetic... Did I forget to mention stylish :P (but IMHO, the bike would look better from the tail if the hugger isnt present)

                          4) The bike sounded not too noisy, neither too muted, but just right

                          5) People looking for a rush of adrenaline right from the start when you roll your wrist, STAY AWAY from this bike... It doesnt offer such sudden torque, nor was it ever meant to... for that, you'd be better off with a duke...

                          6) Acceleration is very linear... You dont feel it, but its definitely there... You dont even realize when you've hit 100.. And its stable even at 125+

                          7) One of my friends did redline it (with a 70kg me as the pillion ) in all gears, and I must tell you, the vibes do jump in from 8k rpm and steadily increase upto 11k rpm, and its especially felt as a pillion at the footpegs,
and at the grabrails. Nothing alarming though... (Substitutes the lack of thrill due to lesser torque ) And dont worry, we confirmed it to be a test vehicle NOT MEANT FOR delivery

                          8) Can easily do speeds of 80 in the 2nd gear, and even cruises at 100 comfortably in the 3rd and 4th...

                          9) The gearing is excellent and provides good click feedback. We didnt experience any false neutrals either

                          10) With pillion, managed to reach speeds of 125 easily, and with some crouching and great difficulty went upto 129

                          11) Bike does NOT feel heavy even with pillion (in my opinion, even during standstill)

                          12) Handling and stability is great

                          13) Braking was not the "best", but was decent enough

                          14) The rear tyre did skid a bit (slightly wet road while at 95kmph) but regained control soon enough.

                          15) Horns are PATHETIC... Sounds like a Kinetic to me.. But if u keep it depressed, its quite audible.

                          16) Indicators were hard to access while riding, and one feature thats really missed is the self-cancellation.

                          17) Didnt get enough confidence to try some cornering, but maybe sometime in the future

                          18) Didnt get a chance to test headlamps in the dark, but the 55W upgrade doesnt seem to have made much of a difference (I may be extremely wrong on this one, as I have not seen the performance in proper darkness)

                          19) Seats are quite comfortable, both the rider and pillion

                          20) Felt that the console buttons are too hard (Trip/odo change buttons)

                          21) Would have personally preferred a blue speedo backlight

                          22) RPM meter seems a tiny bit slow to respond to throttle

                          23) The underbody below the pillion was full of slush, thanks to the rear tyre hugger No muddy rangoli on the pillions dress though

                          24) Riding posture is great, quite comfy

                          25) Absolutely no heating issues even post 45 KM rides...

All in all, on a scale of 100, I'd rate the bike at a generous 84 Total VFM product...

Please note, all these comments are based on our observation and are just our opinions... may differ from person to person

By the way, the quotation given by the dealer here at Mangalore is as follows:

                          Ex-Showroom - 85,860
                          Road Tax - 12,387
                          Insurance - 2,069
                          Opt. Fitment - 650
                          -------------------
                          Total : 1,00,966/-

That's the way to present it. Even if you are saying that there were vibes post 8k you have backed up that with a humble reason and that's totally and completely understandable. If anyone has still doubts on how to present observations of a test ride, well here's an example to learn from.

Would really like to have some feedback from MG and Pyeng, if they felt vibes while riding pillion (well that is... if they took the pain to let go of the throttle and ride pillion )
Twist your wrist and feel the shift!!

                                My own thoughts - Throttle
