I've been facing a serious issue with my 200ns lately which I'd like to share. Few days ago, the gear used to get stuck when I downshifted from 4th gear or a higher gear to 1st gear as it usually happens when one's driving at higher speed (and therefore at higher gears) and one has to consecutively downshift multiple gears at once in traffic. Many a times the gear used to get free (get stuck) after multiple downshifts. By free I mean it used to stop downshifting any further even though 1st gear wasn't reached.
I visited the service center for the free service my bike was due for and they changed the gear lever under warranty without charging me anything for it.

Now that the problem of gear getting stuck while making downshifts has been resolved, a new and even more intolerable issue has arisen. Now when the bike attains appropriate speed so that I can upshift the gear from 2nd to 3rd, the gear refuses to upshift anymore and gets stuck at 2nd gear itself. As a result I've to stop the bike somewhere by roadside, bring it to halt and then bring it to 1st gear to start riding all over again. Then the problem goes off for minutes but can emerge anytime in between while I'm riding and I increase the speed with expectation that the gear would upshift but it remains stuck there at 2nd gear as if there is no higher gear to be applied on bike anymore. The problem I was having with downshifting however has disappeared after the service but this new problem has been introduced although the svc guys did assure me that they'd replaced the gear lever (that is part they mentioned that they've replaced). Kindly help me out of the situation because my bike is hardly 6 months old and if this problem really suggests a serious issue, I'll take up the matter with the svc to do the needful under warranty. I request the experts here to give their opinion as to the cause if this problem and its possible solution. Thanks in advance. I'm new to bikes and novice to bike riding, therefore any help would be appreciable ! :-)
May be ur gear sporket was not synced properly or teeth of 3rd gear's soprket was damaged
Go to SVC asap and ask them to check all sporket or ask them to sync it properly

But I think it's a clutch issue because in my case when I release the clutch a little bit it change the gear

For the past month, I have had this issue with the bike. Whenever I ride, even if it is for a few kms in the city, the bike idles at 2,000rpm. What i mean is that, at cold start, it idles at 1,200 rpm, after while goes to 1500 rpm. However after riding for a bit and coming to a stop, the bike idles at 200rpm. It also feels very rough and underpowered during these times. Something about the bike is not 100% right.

I recently changed the engine coolant from Stock Motul Inugel to Motul Motocool. I took all precautions in making sure that the coolant was properly drained and filled back. Should i try changing back to Motul Inugel?

Could the Bajaj DTSI engine oil be approaching end of its life and is heating up quickly? The bike is at 8000+kms.

or should i try cleaning/changing the spark plugs?

Also, my third free service is coming up in a couple of months. However I am planning on going on a 1,000km round trip before that. Would it be better to change the oil to say, Motul 7100 and then go and when the time comes for service, tell the svc guys not to change the oil? or I can go on the trip in this 8000+kms old oil and change it after the long trip?
My point is same as GauravD. Purely looks like carb issue. Also check for air filter out at least keep in mind. Easiest of all is to check CO level.

Also had coolant leaked or mixed with oil?. Please ensure that. Change to motul 7100 if you prefer long rides. Otherwise 5100 is decent

There are two things which indirectly affect the gearing and can be fixed easily. Clutch, engine oil. But your problem seems more like a damaged gearbox. Have you ever tried something like clutch less shifts?. A six month bike shouldn't get this problem. Get it fixed in warranty. Take it to svc. If things didn't move escalate and send email to Bajaj. They will respond

This is a critical problem bro. It will leave you stranded somewhere..... Don't waste time here, go and screw the svc guys... Good luck. Keep sharing.

Does anyone have a Dyno Chart of NS200.
Or does anyone know where can we find a shop for Dyno test in Bangalore

Guys I need a help.
So since yesterday my bike has kind of low end torque.don't know why.if I rip it then its crossing 100 easily.
There is nothing that I changed.nothing at all.the only thing I did was pit fuel and that's about it.I did a full tank(From a different petrol bunk, not my regular one)
The bike has low pickup but top end seems fine.also at around 5000-7000 rpm it feels like its out of fuel and then its okay.
What could be the cause !

Thanks a ton for that reply bro, would take the bike to svc tomorrow and would ask them if there's specifically a problem with sprocket as suggested by one forum member above. Engine oil was itself changed fully in the service after which the problem arose. So I think that could be ruled out as the engine oil is new. Since the problem lies specifically while upshifting from 2nd to 3rd gear, this appears to me to be a problem relating to the gearbox.
Since you asked, I haven't ever tried shifting gears without pressing the clutch.
If the svc doesn't assist me appropriately, would contact Bajaj as suggested by you. I know they're quite prompt and affirmative in their actions ! Would update after the svc visit. Thanks.

That doesn't work. When the bike refuses to upshift, it doesn't upshift at all, whatever be the matter and whatever I'd try. The only solution then is to stop the bike somewhere by roadside, downshift to 1st gear and start all over again. :-(

I had the same issue with my bike starting at 1200 revs, once warmed to 1500 and once ridden for a while up to 2000 - 2500. I tuned the carb myself and it was pretty cool after that however the svc center guys acted smart in the next service and retuned .. Errr mistuned it again. I would be taking it again for tuning, but this time would be asking them to do it via the CO method. I have heard its the most accurate way of tuning.

Bro your DTSI oil has not just outlived itself, its gotten decomposed and mixed back into the mud... In other words its been in there too long. Bajaj oil doesnt even last properly for 3k kms. Ask your svc center if they agree to pour 7100 into your engine. If they do, nothing like it. If they create issues get the oil changed at the service center to have a mark on your service record about regular oil change and then get it changed outside. Kinda cheeky but does the trick.

Hope this helps.
Thank you bro. I decided that the best thing would be to give it for service earlier than the due date. I gave it for service yesterday at Bajaj-Pro biking. They said they have tuned the carb. I wiill have to ride it for a few days to see if they have properly tuned it. I hope they have not simply made it leaner. I asked them to put Motul 7100 and they did it in front of me and even gave me the remaining oil for future. One of the spark plugs was also broken. So, combustion wouldnt have been efficient.

I will ride it for a week and update you guys. Thank you again for your valuable responses.

• Sprocket Change

Hi Guys, my bike has clocked 27k on Odo. Thinking of changing sprocket as it produces quirky noises every now and then.
So yesterday I took her to service center (Popular Bajaj, Mysore) to inquire about the issue. They said the sprocket set is totally gone and has to be replaced immediately. They quoted Rs 2200 for changing sprocket. It smells something fishy, isn't it? Because, earlier I have read in this thread that changing sprocket set costs only around Rs 1600.

Could you guys share your thoughts on this?

I am not sure but it costs around 1500 including labour.

Is there any other coolant (other than Motocool Expert or Radicool or Inugel) that is suitable for NS. Pre-mixed or concentrate. So far my experience with Inugel (that came as stock) was not good. Switched to Motocool later on.
