Is it safe to ride my NS 200(2017) without any coolant to the nearest(1.5 KM) service station?
Hello guys,
I'm new here and this is my first thread, so please bear with me while I explain.
About 20 days before, I bought a Bajaj NS 200 (2017 model) and I have ridden about 100 Km in it, so I'm still in my break in period.
Few days before I went for drive around the city. It was a hot day. I might have done around 50 km that day. During my ride, I constantly experienced heat waves from the engine. Especially when i'm standing still in traffic. I don't know whether is it common for a new bike or my bike has some problem, I would love to know about that.
Coming back to the main problem; The next day, I took my bike for a short ride, (might have been 2 Km), again it was a hot day, I experienced heat waves from engine as usual. I came back home and when I was about to ride into my parking spot, BOOM, I felt a lot of hot liquid pouring from the base of the motorcycle, to be exact, it was pouring out from the tube circled in the picture.
It was pouring out steadily along with fumes, to be honest, I was shocked. I knew that there was something wrong at the moment when I saw a green liquid pouring out of my brand new bike. I was actually devastated to see this happen, as anyone would be, who worked hard to earn and pay Rs. 1.13 Lakhs for a bike and seeing it that way. I was even sadder considering it was brand new. I managed to plug the tube back, despite the high temperature of the tubes.
I called the dealership and told them about the problem, they told me bring the bike to them on Monday morning. So I did. The mechanic checked it and told me that the bike had been given to me without the tighter holding the radiator tubes. It has been highlighted in the below picture.
He asked me to come today as they don't have that specific part right then. I asked him is it OK to ride the bike back to my house considering the loss in coolant level, he said it's OK. I even checked the coolant level at side, it was somewhere at the middle between high and low. So I was convinced and I came back home with my bike..
Today, when I planned to take my bike to the dealership, I looked at the floor below radiator, there was no coolant leak. So I took my bike to the dealership, the radiator fan kicked in after 1 Km, it was strange considering it is a cool weather here. I shrugged it off and I proceed to the dealership, where the mechanic told me that the part hasn't arrived yet. He promised me that it will be there tomorrow for sure. On my way home I noticed that the radiator fan was running throughout my way to home. I ignored it and I came back to my house. When I parked the bike, I suddenly noticed that the coolant level indicator showed that there is no coolant. I was shocked to see that. I cursed my self for not checking it before.
How can the coolant level go from middle level to dry within a day? It could've leaked but I didn't see any green marks on the floor. It is a puzzle to me.
Now I don't know what to do. I'm afraid that I might have been done some damage in the insides of the engine due to running it without coolant. But I don't know whether that's the case for sure. I gotta get my bike to the dealer ship tomorrow, to top up the coolant and to tighten the tubes. I'm not sure weather it is OK to ride the bike back to the dealership considering the bone dry coolant level.
I don't know what to do. Shred me some light on my situation here, guys, please. What should I do?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Yes! I checked the pipe . It is not choked! Still dont know what the problem is😮Originally posted by NitSpeed200 View PostAre you sure the tube is not choked between the tank and frame? It is something that happens commonly in NS if the person working on the bike is not carefull

I can relate to your problem very well!
As I faced coolant leakage into engine cylinder head on my pulsar 200AS last year.
My bike was 2 months old when the issue took place.
Coolant could have entered into your bikes cylinder head.
Just check the oil level indicator and see the engine oil color.if you find it to be greenish or some other weird color then definitely coolant has entered the engine.
Now the svc guys will open the engine drain out all the coolant.
They will re fix the coolant pipe assembly.
This will take a couple of days.
Do one thing write a email immediately to Bajaj stating the issue.
I had done the same.
Bajaj needs to know this issue.
As it keeps on repeating again and again.Dont understand what Bajaj does while assembling a bike.
You will have to keep a lot of patience bro.Even I was highly irritated when this issue happened with my bike.
Hopefully the svc guys will do a good job and your bike will be fixed well.
Don't worry.all will be fine.

Thanks a lot bro for acknowledging what I'm going through.
Bajaj is doing a terrible job at assembly these days. I now understand why Bajaj is called unreliable. This is why it can't produce vehicles as good as foreign manufacturers.
btw, thanks for the heads up about oil, thankfully it's all good. I wanna know one thing, can I ride it to service centre?

Re: Is it safe to ride my NS 200(2017) without any coolant to the nearest(1.5 KM) service station?
The coolant just keeps your engine cool and prevents over heating. If the SVC is not very far then there should be no issue. You do have an high temp indicator on the console. A few KM's should not be an issueOriginally posted by rajkumarsa View Post

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Had an issue with the bike not cranking. Console was fine. When I hit the self could only hear a tik tik sound. No crank sound. I checked my battery terminals, it was lose. Cleaned it and tightened it. Still no go. Was unable to open the housing for the starter motor and relay as the screw was rusty and wasn't budging with the driver that comes in our kit. Magically the bike started. Took it to the SVC. He tested the battery. Said it's gone faulty. I'm in the 18th month which is the last month for warranty. Later he checked the relay. It was lose. I've been asked to test and if issue still persists it would be a battery issue.
Now my question is. If the SVC plugged the battery testing kit and it showed a fault can I still go to the battery dealer. Get them to test it. If they find a fault they'll have to replace it.

Ohh, I see. Thanks for clearing my doubts. The svc is just 1.5 km so it should be fine I guess.Originally posted by Vicky_New_Guy View PostThe coolant just keeps your engine cool and prevents over heating. Wow couple of day for the process that's long bro. Here a little trick to be done quickly. Find some experience bajaj mechanic and tip him separately and take his number. From next time he will definitely give you first priority. [emoji482]Originally posted by justride View PostHey bro..

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Hey guys !
Is it worth upgrading to NS 200 from Pulsar 180 ? Its my dad's 180 and I feel its performance is lacking as it doesn't have enough top end grunt.
I travel on the highway on the weekends and pulsar 180 doesn't have the power to do highway speeds.
Its does in 5th gear
70kmph @ 6000rpm
85kmph @ 7000rpm
95kmph @ 8000rpm and by 100kmph it hits a wall and doesn't have power to pull ahead.I have done a top speed of 115kmph going down a flyover.
I heard from a friend that the NS 200 does a 100 kmph at 6000rpm @ 6th gear and can reach speeds of up to 140kmph. Is it true ?
Is the NS 200 convincingly more powerful than pulsar 180 or is it only a minor upgrade in performance ?

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
It doesn't go 100 at 6k rpm maybe at 7.5k rpm. If I could give my 2 cents. Test ride the bike on your own multiple times if necessary. And also your friend is too proud of his bike. Although it is an awesome bike ( I own it too) knowing it's shortcomings and limits helps. It's not a supercharged 200cc vehicle.Originally posted by Sandepp View PostHey guys !
