Hey guys! Wanted some help from y'all here. This is kind of my first bike. All of the previous ones weren't mine but borrowed for a long time. And after my run in I plan to do a lot of touring. For that I need to understand everything about.my motorcycle. How all the parts work and how to replace stuff etc. I know my basics about how the engine works , how the gears work the clutch and everything. But most of it is theory based and if y'all could hit me up with some links where I can learn about them with respect to the NS200 I would be really grateful. Anything you feel is worth knowing about the bike you let me know. You can link me to posts on this thread too , i tried reading the whole thing but it's hard to do that on your phone without knowing exactly where to look. Any touring essentials worth reading, please link them! The young Padawan is here to learn! Thanks!

If your purpose is long touring then first thing you can do is position the grab rail to other side so it's looks cool + easy to tie your bag on rear seat. Always spray your sprocket around 200 km cuz it gets dry quickly after continuous riding. Mobile holder would be great to install. Motul 7100 is really recommended but seems like you are still in run in period. Full face helmet with proper gear and good quality gloves to absorb all the buzz from handle bar. Check your tyre pressure and adjust chain and this is exceptional but what I prefer to carry bag which Camelbak so you could access to your drinking water anytime while riding.

Hello guys, I am a new owner of a red pulsar 200ns which I got two days ago.

Ever since I got the bike I have been following the manuals method of breaking in and keeping the bike at low speeds. If I am correct the speeds indicated for the first 1000km turns out to be about less than 4k RPM in every gear. Now my question is, is it alright to occasionally go above that rpm limit? I am honestly not enjoying the bike at such low rmp, the low end feels a lot like my old xtreme, that is to say nothing special like I was expecting to blow my mind. Though the bike really comes to its own in the mid and top end above 5k rpm that's the kind of fun I want from this bike. Now at the present moment since I left my job I don't need to drive as much and will b be using it occasionally, so completing 1000-2000km at these insanely low speed and rmp is going to be a chore I feel. What do you guys suggest?

It's recommended by the company to be at the speed of 40-60 kmph in run in period but i did it for 500 kms only and then lost the patience. After 2.5 yrs and 20k kms my bike is still smoother than many others who drove at 40 kmph for 2000 kms. What matters is how you maintain it..

Just bear with it till 1st servicing then after that you can rip it gradually after that above 5-6K rpm. Trust me it's a bulletproof engine so need to be so cautious cuz it's component are design with laser cut technology so just smoothen out with constant gear change till first servicing. There's even a theory which is still controversial which guide to rip you engine to top speed in day 1 so that the piston rubber settle perfectly with the heat generated by engine. But I would prefer the other way cuz manual recommends it. [emoji12]

That's the kind of validation I was hoping to hear thank you. It really is difficult to stay bellow those speeds for 2000km. I will make sure I do maintain the bike well.

Yes will do that, keep it bellow 4k till the first service at around 400-500km and then start to slowly open up the throttle.
And yes that method is called the motoman method of breaking in right. I did read about it but it definitely sounds insane to me to open it full blast from day one. But then again what you say is right that these days the machine's that make these are so precise that I don't think there really should be a need for breaking in of any kind.

Also another question I wanted to ask is that how does the first 3 free service work. Can I take it to any Bajaj service center and get it serviced for free or do I have to only take it to the service center that my Showroom guys mentioned?

You can take it to any Bajaj authorized service center. (Google them). Also it's not fully free. Only the labour charges are free meaning the first service may cost anywhere between 700 to 1.3k . Usually less. Only thing you gotta be worried about is the quality of the service they do. Be aware and check properly so they won't be able to woo you into any extra costs.
PS :I gave mine in Auto service centre. Its near monotype opposite Hyundai service centre.

They will charge for oil filter and engine oil change only. And you can take to any SVC. Make sure they clean your air filter properly. They will ask if there's any problem the don't say there is noon cuz they will reglect it later. So my way is always adding problem so they check properly [emoji23].

Did GP shifting on NS,now it's much easier while up shifting and more precise.

NEED HELP / FEEDBACK / SUGGESTION BETWEEN 2017 DUKE 390 OR R3 (Whenever it launches Next)
                          ************************************************** ***************************

Currently Riding 200 NS since 2013 so its has been good 4 year and clocked 34,000 kms of which most of it is in Bangalore city (Daily commute to Office of 30 kms minimum daily running) I have done few long rides to places like Hoserly Hills and Ananantpur (longest trip of 400 kms plus)

After the last experience of Anantapur I realized that NS200 looses steam after continuous cursing for more than 2 to 3 hours.. once the engine gets too hot it does not pull in 6th gear at all...I had to red line in 5th gear and struggled to maintain 115 to 120 kmph

I recently changed my stock tyres to Michellin Pilot Street 110 (Front) and 130 (Rear) and i am loving it although the bike feels heavy and there is slight drop in mileage but inspires confidence in cornering and feels planted

                          So here's the thing

While I love my NS 200 in city I realized i either need an upgrade or a 2nd bike for my weekend highway runs which will evolve into touring some day

2017 DUKE 390 (What I think although I dont own one yet )
                          PROS
                          1. Total value for money package
                          2. Urgent initial pickup and torque
                          3. Decent mileage depending on the way we ride (hard / smooth) from 20 to 30+ kmpl
                          4. Excellent grip with Metzelers
                          5. Gorgeous looking TFT screen with lot of functionality
                          6. Drop dead looking LED head lamp unit with decent spread ( Although I feel R3 will be better here due to twin setup)
                          7. Comfortable seat compared to previous generation
                          8. Best in class ground clearance at 185 mm
                          9. Easy and cheap spares and multiple mods in after market l

                          CONS
                          1. Heat from engine and that loud radiator fan kicking in within minute of idling..(expected as this is BIG single with HIGH compression So can't complain
Actually i had posted an link in my earlier post where they showed the single radiator fan being replaced by a twin unit, not sure how helpful that is ?

I have to REALLY THINK HARD to find any other flaws unless i spend more time with the Bike in flesh

Also has one tried using the below ECU after market unit from POWERTRONICS ? Does this void warranty ?

                          YAMAHA R3
                          PROS
                          1. Better everyday rideability
                          2. Higher top speed than Duke 390 thanks to twin cylinders
                          3. Excellent Stock Headlamp spread in the night
                          4. Reasonably cheaper spares and servicing cost compared to Ninja 300
                          5. Better wind protection compared to Duke 390 thanks to Stock visor

                          CONS
                          1. High initial cost of ownership
                          2. MRFs dont do justice which need upgrade to Michellin / Perellis if we need to realize the true potential of R3
                          3. Lacks equipment compared to Duke 390 (ABS, Slipper Clutch. TFT , Ride by Wire...list is long)
                          4. Bad pillion comfort compared to Duke 390
                          5. Rear view mirrors are not great, hardly does the job

So all said and done I have couple of choice currently

                          1. Buy a brand new 2017 Duke 390
                          2. Buy a used R3 or wait for 2017 launch which I doubt will come with ABS..may be new graphics

Feel free to share your experience and feedback which will help me decide
                          Ride HARD but Ride SAFE
                          Cheers !!

Since budget is not an issue for you, you should get Duke390, r3 is not worth the ₹₹₹!

If you are just looking for a touring companion that can do 130kmph all day, you can consider Dominar too.
Way better heat dissipation compared to Duke390 and lower radiator fan sound AND you spend almost a lakh less!

You have already set up your mind for 390 so go for it. I'm planning get it too but the price in Kathmandu is 7 lakh so considering to get it around December.
