Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Ok, which DTSi oil they changed at 1st service? Semi synthetic or fully synthetic? I would suggest don't wait for next service to change oil. Just replace it again at 1000 or 1200 kms. I did the same at 1000kms & could see many metal particles in the oil strainer.Originally posted by Rav23cbzx View Post

Semi synthetic...was thinking to change Bajaj oil after about 1k km i.e around 1500 on odoOriginally posted by samy_jk View PostOk, which DTSi oil they changed at 1st service? But will do now around 1200 after your post

I guess I will change mine at 2k again. Last time I switched to MOTUL, will have it again.

What do you mean by that? I thought the bike has gotten better and hence bought it in december. Odo at close to 2k now. Do you mean the power has been reduced because of emission norms?Originally posted by #bpk View PostBecause quality of ns 200 has downgraded in its recent avatar.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
You won't believe if I say I haven't been following the run in method from their manual - riding 6th gear below 4k rpm as they say? No way, if you try so then the engine would feel like there is no gas or lugging.Originally posted by Rav23cbzx View PostStill keeping the rpm till 4k?how are you riding after 1k km?in rpm terms
Initially I was thinking about the run in thing. But you know what I started ride it above 4k rpm - 6k rpm just after 300 kms. But here am not talking about redline it.
The way I do it is I always idle it for 2 mts for warmup the engine when starting the bike & ride it below 50 km/h for few kms. Then I just ride & shift gear when I feel the engine starts to be harsh(means that's the RPM limit it can produce max power for all gears without heating up the engine more given the condition of the engine i hope) - thats all. You can feel the RPM limit increases for each gear without harshness as you run on more kms.
I randomly push it to touch 70 - 80 km/h but not for long. Just don't do sudden acceleration or vice versa.
Now as the KMs passed on I can feel the engine is becoming smoother on RPMs range for each gear day by day. I don't hear any noise other then the stroke sound from the engine.
Mileage - am getting 38 to 42/ltr.
Also i have been using fully synthetic from my 1st service. After switching to MOTUL 7100 vibes & engine sounds became lower & I can now hear the exhaust note clearly.

I have only once got to 5k rpm in 4,5,6 gears .LOL..guess m babying it too muchOriginally posted by samy_jk View PostYou won't believe if I say I haven't been following the run in method from their manual - riding 6th gear below 4k rpm as they say? Have not checked mileage yet
FS oils are to be avoided till 5-6k km
for running in mineral oils are suitable..
I have been mostly sedate with wrist but sometimes I take the bike to 2k-4k rpm a bit aggressively in 3+ gears
Yeah warming up for atleast 1.5min I do...with choke..now have to rectify choke lever as it's not staying up

Bajaj Oil.
I've been riding the bike in 2 modes ( made up by me )normal & crazy.
Normal = Very gradually take RPM to the point where you can hear the engine make some noise (about 3.5 to 4k RPM) Not exceeding 70 kmph
Crazy = Accelerate like a race bike but no red lining though.
Have touched 146 kmph max. The wind was too much that day.
Mileage 38 kmpl with 150 kms of Ghat section + 200 kms highway and the rest city traffic. Full tank to reserve method of calculations.
Also, i noticed that duke 200 when the radiator fan is on makes so much noise that you can hear it.
My radiator fan was not running or i could not notice the sound.
So rode for 10kms by revving the engine and stopped, revved for 30 secs while observing the fan.
It turned on but the sound not like that of a duke 200's fan sound.
I sound paranoid maybe but tell if you guys also cannot hear the radiator fan working when riding the bike.
When i get down i can hear but not as much as duke's.
This correct for NS? I tried searching for this on youtube but i only found how to fix radiator fan videos.
Now Odo almost at 2k Kms. Will change oil and filter with motul and see if i feel there is any change.Last edited by lokeshc; 01-15-2019, 11:05 PM.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
I thought the same about FS oil. But heard of some saying it as myth as reputable companies like Mobil, total are starting the same. Also IMO FS oils are most refined engine oils which will hold its viscosity stable at high temperatures & last longer than regular mineral or SS oils.Originally posted by Rav23cbzx View PostI have only once got to 5k rpm in 4,5,6 gears .LOL..guess m babying it too much

So I don't understand how FS oil would harm the new engine or the running in period. But price wise its costly expense for new engines since we will be changing it very often initially. Anyhow it's my understanding.
This is the 2nd time I have changed FS oil. 1st time it was bajaj FS oil made by TOTAL - got it filled by SVC at 1st service. 2nd time I changed it to MOTUL 7100 10W50. I havent faced any prob so far rather my idling is stable now than earlier. Engine noise & vibs got reduced. But I had to ride till 250 kms to feel the difference.
Sorry for the long post.

During first couple of hundred km...in heavy traffic while returning home i could hear the radiator fan sound before that hot air blowing to my legs which attracted my attention towards radiator fan sound
Yes Now the radiator fan noise I barely hear while riding as the streets conditions have been less traffic heavy and radiator fan has been less vocal of it has got on...without me realizing.

You may go to like through this article's link posted way back in this thread
Excerpt from the article-
Don’t mollycoddle your new engine with expensive oils either. Running in oils are rare and completely unnecessary on a modern engine, but here’s a shock, don’t splash out either on a costly fully synthetic oil until your engine’s covered at least 5,000 miles (8,000km). This comes from the highest authority, Castrol, who would love you to buy the company’s expensive synthetic oils...
Running_in_17
This is why the Castrol boys know what they're talking about
Peter Brett says that they’ve discovered synthetic oils actually interfere with running in, for reasons which go beyond their low friction properties - there also seems to be a chemical process happening which hinders it. “Although you can treat an engine as fully run in after 500 miles, surface stabilisation continues for at least the first 5,000 miles of an engine’s life,” he says. “Synthetic oils actively prevent this from happening, and not simply by holding friction surfaces apart, although we still don’t know exactly why and how this happens. But there’s no doubt they inhibit the process itself. So the consequence of using a synthetic too early is your engine will never run in properly. I would even suggest waiting until 10,000 miles (16,000km) before using it in most engines subjected to normal use. Until then, you’re best to use an inexpensive but branded mineral oil.
Long posts are good mate..no probs discuss as much as you can about the bike
