I have switched to premium fuel two weeks back, just to see if it makes any difference.
There was no noticeable difference immediately after switching, but now I am noticing significant improvement in acceleration and the backfire problem is reduced. I think mileage is somewhat better too though it is very hard to calculate.
Would appreciate feedback on similar lines - regular vs premium fuel in ns200.Last edited by The Monk; 11-18-2017, 11:27 AM. Reason: Consecutive Posts. Please use multiquote. Thanks

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
The main benefit of premium fuel is to avoid detonation which is burning of fuel before spark occurs in compression stroke. Other than this, premium fuel doesn't improve mileage or performance. NS's engine is having 11:1 compression which is higher than average but not that high which can benefit from high octane number of premium fuel. Regarding your issue of backfire which can be detonation and can benefit from premium fuel but better you try to identify the problem causing backfire because premium fuel is not permanent solution.Originally posted by sgarg View PostI have switched to premium fuel two weeks back, just to see if it makes any difference.

Just google it out and you can get in depth knowledge of the same.

Yes I researched this topic a lot as I am grappling with backfire for last one year. The dealer guy rode the bike last month for 10+ km and could not find anything wrong.Originally posted by jigarm View PostThe main benefit of premium fuel is to avoid detonation which is burning of fuel before spark occurs in compression stroke. I got the tappets tightened and carburetor cleaned recently as well.
So only option is to open the engine and I am hesitating as engine rebuild is very expensive.
Bike runs fine otherwise and it is in daily use.

I can understand that pain, had that issue in my Discover long time ago and it was solved by adjusting the timing chain, other thing you can do is to de-carbonising the engine and it don't need opening of engine. Also if the tappets are too tight, it will pass back the charge(air fuel mixture) to carburettor end in compression stroke because the intake valve is not sealing properly on it's seat.Originally posted by sgarg View PostYes I researched this topic a lot as I am grappling with backfire for last one year. Re: WAIT or BUY?
Same here bro...i own unicor160 & going to buy ns200..i have waited for this long for abs version but still no reply from bajaj dealers...im going to buy my ns200 next monthOriginally posted by mallikarjunsadanand View PostHi All,
I have finalized that my next bike is going to be NS200. So I'm not here for bike suggestion, but some advice.
I was expecting that the 2017 NS200 will come equipped with ABS. I expected that it will be oferred as an option at least when
I saw the stickering on the console which read as "JLA/K4 N ABS". I have waited till now. But there seems to be no sign of it.
From last one and half month, I have been messaging on Bajaj's facebook page, commenting on each post and emailed them nearly 5-6
times and called them 2 times to take it as a feedback to release the ABS version in india also.
I also saw that there were many people who were commenting on their fb page for ABS version.
I currently have a UNICORN 160, So my doubt is whether to buy the NS200 now or wait for another few months??
Is any one out here in the same boat as me?? If yes please call the Bajaj Customer care toll free number 1800 233 2453
and tell them that to take it as a feedback.
The reason why i'm worried we can't fit it once we purchase it. ABS may not be useful in all the situations, But
definitely it will be helpful in at least one situation where our time is bad.
PS: please don't suggest to go for D400(out of budget), RS200(Naked priority) and RTR200 and 180(Do not like them).

Re: WAIT or BUY?
It was launched on 2nd Nov.Originally posted by Vishnujithr View PostI have checked they say they have no idea about the abs version availability
dealers must have the stock now. Bajaj always sends stock first to dealers and then launches the bike.
Your dealer must be trying to push for non abs bike. Because he might not have ordered abs version, so blaming Bajaj for the same. Check with city level dealers. They should have stock somewhere.
