Some recent additions to my ride.

    1. Seat Cowl (Rs.3500/-) from Ebay
    2. Leo Vince Carbon Fibre Exhaust (Rs.13000/-, got this second hand, used for 1000 km)

I also finally scored a Ninja tank pad (Rs.1400/-) which I got from PRC at IBW Goa 2015 which replaced the Keiti transparent tank pad. Next on the list is a tail-tidy kit.

What sharp little eyes you have there mate! I have done 24000km in one-year-four-months of ownership and have changed three sets of tyres so far. Each set requires a change after 6000 odd km which is when the contact patch begins to wear off and makes the bike prone to skids. My experiences vary from the stock IRC medium compound tyre which I didnt like, to continental tyres which was a terrible experience at Rs.10000/-. This is the second set of MRF tyres that I am using which are soft compound and hence super sticky when warmed up and has never let me down on the twisties or on the straights at 170kmph. The cost for a pair of MRF tyres is Rs.5500/-. Go do the math buddy. As an aside, who wouldnt want to ride Metzelers, but at Rs.24000/- a pair also lasting the same mileage, it becomes unaffordable to some people.

Your tires last only 6000 km before the contact patch wears out? Where do you ride buddy?
        Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Yes, I also want to know because the IRC's are not soft compound at all.
where do you ride buddy? Are you burning rubber frequently at the tracks?

Sudden speed bursts and frequent braking from high speeds will wear off the tyre soon !

MRFs and Metz are not the only tyre manufacturers mate!!
What about Michelins? The Pair shouldn't cost you more than 12K AFAIK...6K Kms to ruin a set of tyres is bad, bad riding mate...
If you can't bare the ownership cost, then probably you shouldn't have bought the machine in the first place.. I'm so sorry i'm ranting here a bit, but seeing a N300 on MRFs is just plain sad..

Buddy, the MRF's wont wash out just like that in dry conditions. Its when you have a mix of dry and wet patch or dirty patch or slightly muddy patch you realise limits of MRF on a Ninja 300. Those tyres you are using are from Duke 200. I hope you dont have to brake hard, or you dont face situations where you have to do panic braking. Please do not take that as a query on your riding talent. Its just a general concern about your safety.

IRC's though not soft compound, they dont lose grip and go bald in 6000 Kms. Yes, they harden up at around 6000 Kms and a couple of thousand kms more, they are terrible. You can try Michelin Pilot Street Radial. They are same spec as Ninja stock tyres and are not very pricey at 10000 bucks a set of front and rear. I have been using it for last 6000 Kms and it is no where near its half life.

That seat cowl has the colour of a cucumber .It should look super wierd in real. Should have gone for Original part.
6k kms on a set of tyres ? Really ? Even the metz last 7-8k easily on the other mean machine. Theres something wrong with your bike dude. I haven't seen fully worn IRC before 30k kms. You should be abusing the machine if the previous comments doesnt apply.

Hey chill. There aint a possible way for even sbks to wear their tyre so quickly. So everyone wants to know. Take it that way. And its always better to have better things equipped on your or my bike. And yes, there aint a way the tyres wear so quickly unless you have a bend chassis or a very poor air pressure checking meter. So you can save some bucks if you come to know the root cause as well. Members ranting.. ? Err.. I would call it as 'strong phrases'. Two negatives make a positive

What is the average life of stock tyres for a normal rider?

I think 10-12k is decent life for stock tyres.

regarding tyres, MRFs would definitely not last more than 6-7K if you ride aggressively. However, IRC, Michelin and even Metzellers should all give you enough distance ranging from 9k-15K depending on how you ride.
I've got a 250 and stock IRCs. Done 2 track days, majority city rides and only couple of rides of over 400km and the stock are still good at 9km, I can definitely run then around 2k-3k more without doubt.

I'm also planning to switch to Michelin radials cos they offer better grip and last around the same distance as IRCs and since I'll be doing more of track days in the coming winter, I would definitely require more grip :P

Below is a pic of my rear tyre at 9K after the previous track day. Doesn't look worn out to me

Hey Guys. I have recently taken a test ride for a Ninja 300 and i was really pleased with the bike. I also took a test ride for the Z250. I am scoping out how each bike would fare and would like your inputs in your daily experiences and do's and don't-do's for the Ninja 300 and if possible the Z250 too. I am mostly looking at an all purpose bike, i.e, something that can take on the city and please me on the highways too.

I would like a head-up on the recurring costs for the bike as such and what you guys have chosen to specifically invest in for your own machines.

I am really looking forward to upgrade my bike and am looking at the Ninja since that's the bike that really impressed me. But the cost to consider is a little on the stretchy side for me as I have other investments I need to make for my biking like a tank bag, new pair of gloves and shoes, a new jacket and a new helmet. I am sure there will be other things along the way but with the bike I have these purchases to make too. So I would really like to scope out if I can afford to buy a Ninja and take good care of it.

Any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance.
