So if spending 1-1.5 lakhs more is not issue then why not to go for N650 or ER6N?

Spend another 2 lacs and you get a Z800

Not necessarily, a bigger bike is not always a better bike. Ride both and you find out for yourself.

You are the reason I am tilted towards buying the Ninja. Though I love the bike, the exorbitant price was keeping me away but the way you say,"If I were to go back in time and buy a bike again, I would still pick up the Ninja 300" is so reassuring. And IIRC, you had previously owned a Duke 390, that was just around the time when I was also attracted towards the maniac 2 wheeled rocket and the unimaginable value for money it offered. But i managed to hold on till the launch of RCs. The first look of the RC pictures took my breath away and I was so eagerly waiting for the launch. But Now I feel, having learned lot more about motorcycling, I am the "Reliable" motorcycle type guy. And anyways the 44 horses 390 is way more than one can handle in the road conditions of my mountainous state. So with Ninja 300, I really hope its a good handler for the curves and corners. The Yamaha R15 is a joy to ride here.

N300 is already an over stretched budget for me And I am also not the tourer type guy. At a stretch I go 300kms and that is a heck of a distance in our conditions but R15 is manageable so should the N300 be. And also I am not sure if I can manage the jump from 200cc to 650 cc at a go with an additional cylinder too :P
I am more in the line of buying the N300 now and upgrading to ZX6R or so in 5-8 years of time if our road are built well enough by that time. Many highways projects and border road project are on-going, hopefully they be completed in time for my next upgrade.

Who could understand that better than me.
In 2012 when I was looking to buy a new motorcycle, I really felt in love with the Duke 200's responsive throttle (well, who didn't!!). But I was also newly married, and looking at the pros and cons of it I finally ended up buying the 200NS for its value for money and practicality. Not that I have any complains from my NS (i honestly had a trouble free ownership experience unlike what we regularly get to read in the ownership thread,. Maybe I was lucky ) but whenever I saw a D200 pass by, i would always enviously glance at it thinking this could have been mine. So all these years I could never truly love my NS nor could i forget the thrill that the Duke200 gave me. So this time I have decided go with the heart, putting practicality and value for money as the least valued criteria. Lets see how it goes.

No test ride for any bikes here. i am only judging by the ownership experience. But the 650s are already out of the equation. Its between Ninja and maybe R3 if they announce it soon. Do Not want to wait longer for it. Though I loved the R15, I am a little displeased by Yamaha. Indonesians have started getting the Limited Edition R25s and not a word about the basic bike in India. Hope they can earn enough from Saluto. Its not like their performance bike have not done well. On contrary, the R15 though thought to be expensive for a 150cc, has done tremendous numbers in the market. But still, they treat us like we are all only commuters. Aagghhh !! Anyways, I feel the Ninja still looks more beautiful .

Also I can very much relate to your story of ending up with the ninja, so please do update about your ownership experience. It'll be valuable to me. Also have you thought of buying any accessories for your new motorcycle. I am thinking about buying Stompgrip pads, tank pad, a good quality cover, swing arm spools, fork protectors, Paddock stand, Rim tape, brake-clutch levers, not very sure about frame sliders but giving it a thought. Steel braided lines and brake pads can follow later. But since nothing is available here, I have to order it from online. So if you happen to get anything new, please do share.

If all arrived bikes are sold off within this month, they'll get the next shipment by June last or else its July max. Never seen a white ninja up close, never know i might be smitten. But Not in a hurry anyways as I am so hoping the kawasaki surprises us with an ABS version. Hope against hope
So is the N300 meeting your expectations? What is the ex-showroom price and OTR in guwahati? Here its Rs 3,65,000/- Ex-showroom.
I took the white one. The colour is metallic. The best part of having a white is a lot many people don't know that ninja comes in white too, so not many eyes when parked!
Ex showroom here is 3,70,854/- Insurance for 8.3k (done myself, zero dep) and registration + road tax for 10k (money receipts say 7k all together, rest 3k dealer and agent commission).
For expectations.... maybe this would suffice
Need to hit the highways soon. Will get it serviced next week with around 900km on odo. Currently its 700 done in 2 weeks. Past 100kms or so, the idle rpm has dropped considerably, making it below 1000, but doesn't shut the engine, except sometime during cold starts.

Hehe!! No, I didn't miss anything! Tax structuring is different here in Assam. Road tax is 6500/-, hypo, cess and all comes to 226/-, and the HSRP is for 160/-

I paid more than 13k for my P220 in Karnataka, 4 years back!

Took out my hornet on the NICE road for breaking in. I am doing the hard break-in procedure. Rode with varying speeds and revved it hard and hit 11k rpm a couple of times along with engine breaking. The engine scream is like ecstasy, it roars past 100kmph in no time. Now going for oil change.

                        Just one word, superb ride.

Am doing the break-in all in city traffic. Maintained 4k rpm religiously till around 400 kms. Past that, couldn't resist and took it to max 6k rpm, maintaining 4k most of the time. Now since yesterday am maintaining 5k. Did a couple of blasts to 7-8k. Enquired about oil change in service centre, they said it will go fine till 1st service at 1000kms.

Don't wait for first service for first change of oil because it's a new engine the first oil change is better done sooner than wait until 1000kms.

At last after some initial deliberation, booked the pearl white ninja couple of days ago in Bangalore. The dealer said 15 days waiting period. Now the waiting game begins.
Moving from Pulsar 220 Fi, hoping that I will complete the run in without revving it up unnecessarily. I had initially booked RS200 but they gave me a 45 - 60 days waiting time. That is when I started thinking that it was time to go for a serious upgrade rather than an incremental upgrade. Narrowed it down to Ninja 300 and Ninja 650 and despite Ninja 300 was costlier for its capacity compared to 650, I kept coming back to Ninja 300.

Thanks to the long waiting period of RS200 I had the time to think and finally decide upon Ninja 300.

I went through most of the pages in this thread, and I have found quite a few mods that I might end up doing including the tapered bearings, brake pads, but I also want to add a mobile/cigarette charger and a gps/mobile mount. Has anyone has their ninja equipped with these? Any reliable shops in bangalore (or online) where I can buy them?
I see that most of the mods were done at MotoZone, Pune. Do we have such a service center (Bajaj Pro biking or private) in Bangalore?
