RHS fairing damaged and scratches on headlamps cost you Rs 56000 !!!!!! Whoa, that just scared the shit out of me. Considering I don't have the option of Zero Dep in my town/state. Even if I buy the ninja, I would be walking a very thin line. Well, I should better take a proper look at spare parts cost before taking the plunge

Read a lot about "Vikram from Motozone" mostly in Abhimanyu's thread making-kawasaki-ninja-300-san. You guys are lucky to have someone of his caliber around. If only I lived anywhere near Pune

There were other things too that I claimed in insurance including front rim. I also replaced the indicators.

I cant reveal more abt insurance claim as I beleive most are aware of what all you can do in 0 dep.

Yes fixing Ninja is expensive after a crash when you dont have 0 dep. It would be foolish to buy something as expensive as Ninja or other expensive bikes without 0 dep.

I felt Ninja 300' seats are too damn hard. After 150-200kms, they became painful to ride. Hence was looking for a solution to soften them. Finally got a guy who installed 1 inch thick 50 density foam on top of existing seats, and put a new seat cover (matching the stock cover).

Now I ride on this soft sofa Pillion too is happy. Especially on bad patches of roads, this upgrade is really useful. Highly recommended.

Cost: Any guesses?
.
.
.
Only 700Rs

I did Mumbai to Goa and back, I found the seat to be adequately padded. Hardly took any breaks in between.

In Gujarat trip I did 700kms in a day. Later 150-300kms every day. After 150-200kms I felt that the seat should have been softer. And more so, in city I felt the need for softer seats. Hence the mod.

Thank you for your advice. I guess I better look for 0 dep or bid goodbye to my Ninja dream for now.
Maybe a couple of years and I'll be ready to take the risk just for experiencing the twin cylinder machine. It is so disheartening.
I guess I should give RC390 a proper chance. Damn at my place we don't even get proper normal petrol let alone high octane ones. I am scared if highly adulterated petrol might harm the high compression engine of the 390.
I guess shifting my place is what would be the easiest way to buy what my heart desires.

Glad you got my point. Yes, I would advice against purchasing Ninja if 0 dep is not available in your area. Also, Ninja does not require 95 octane fuel. It runs fine on normal fuel as the compression ratio isn't that high.

I meant for the single cylinder RC 390 when I said about the normal fuel thing.
If I tick off N300 from the list due to insurance issue and tick off RC390 due to its inability to run properly in "adulterated" normal petrol, then I am left with no motorcycle to buy. I love the smooth and slick R15 but that's not an upgrade from the 200NS that I presently own. And I want to buy a faired bike after having experience the naked NS.
I guess I'll be stopping here before it seems like I am spamming this thread or have I already done it!
I had planned for an April end purchase so will be doing a lot of thinking for a few weeks and lets see how it turns out.
Thanks Chinmayakar for making me understand a few things and thanks in advance to all those ninja owners who,I am sure will grace this thread with their wonderful experiences and stories of life with their prized possession.
Am I being too cheesy here....
ok.. sorry..
Over and out.

Well, another query here.
Have any of you tried Crash protectors on your Ninja 300? Are they worth. I wouldn't mind that ugly protruding thing on my beautiful bike IF it can save me thousands of rupees. There are different opinions all over the internet. While some say they saved them a lot of pain and money, there are others who claim they are as good as not having installed any and at times they can also damage the bikes frame and stuff. Its always so confusing. Why can't there be a simple straight answer?
Any btw, I am in talks with ICICI for 0 dep insurance and they have asked me to contact ICICI lombard branch that is in another state. Won't there be any hassle to buy and register a bike in one state and then getting it insured from another? I have asked this question to the bank and of course they said,"You'll enjoy a hassle free experience, Sir". The sweeter they sound, the scarier I get. So the opinions of experts here would be much appreciated.

Hi! I do not have frame slider installed as I feel they are useless. Even with frame slider, the side fairing does get damaged/scratched. Plus, if the impact is severe may also cause damage to the frame. Hence, I opted for 0 dep, and I do not mind replacing the fairing as many times it gets damaged.

You need to check with existing owners in your state regarding service of ICICI Lombard for 0 dep. Bajaj Allianz too provides 0 dep. Check with the dealer or nearest svc regarding the insurance company with which they have good relations. That helps a lot during insurance claims.

I guess the rush is getting addictive every passing day!
Had booked the bike with 45 days in hand, as quoted by KTM Guwahati. However, the bike arrived yesterday, in 20 days. But I would be taking the delivery after 20 days only, as planned (finance, to be).

On the other hand, am still trying to figure out the zero dep insurance. As mentioned some pages back, I managed to get one from ICICI Lombard, but lately their response is not that good. Had asked for revised quotations as the price of the bike increased, cash less claims etc, nothing was provided, despite the assurance to get back by their marketing team. Maybe March ending pressures! (ICICI Lombard don't do 2 wheeler insurance generally in North East, unless the premium amount is good!). Also, the dealer has no tie-up with anyone except New India, which does comprehensive only and are reluctant for processing cash less claims.

Other than that, need your kind guidance for the things to check while delivery, initial care, tank pads, radiator guards and any other accessory(ies) required.

I have a frame slider and will get it installed soon. It is not meant for a hard crash, where anyways the fairing damage is the least of your worries. It is mainly for stumble or dropping the bike at very low speeds. If you don't have them while a drop, then you risk scratches/breaking of fairing. It costs some 10k each side IIRC, and I wouldn't want to lose my no claim bonus over 10k expense. I think an investment is worthwhile for this.

vickks congrats man.. Since you are taking delivery after 20, just make sure that your dream machine will not become a display piece!!! This you can discuss with the dealer and ask him to keep it in warehouse only. During taking delivery check for any physical scraches, oil and coolant level and as usual stuffs. Initial care and run in is clearly explained in Owners manual. It is available in google and in 20 days at least you will be familiar with your bike. IMO tank pad is not required and radiator guard requirement depends. If possible get a good frame sliders. And finally good set of riding gears.. Once again congrats .. Ride safe, enjoy next few days dreaming..

I gave that condition of not keeping that bike for display and today they have agreed and will bring it to showroom on or a day before delivery. Same was done for my P220. While there are other bookings of the popular green, I have booked the white one.
Am already using a set of cramsters for gears and upgraded my LS2 to an airpump one.
