I must say, the green logo gives me a feel of slight mutation. Unlike the green one which looks like hulk, this one seems to be growing into a mutant itself. :P

Update: Odo reading- 5000kms Mileage: 28-30kmpl

The first 2500kms took about a month and a half while the next one took 3 months . It has been busy at work because of which, I have not been able to take it out for long rides. It has been mostly breakfast rides/evening cafe rides in and around Bangalore but every single ride has been pleasant.

The experience has been very nice with nothing to complain. Got it recently serviced.

Service experience has been nothing to talk about it. It was the usual experience one has with A.S.S here in India and I am not talking positive (IMO). The bill was about 3.5k with usual replacements and top-ups. This time after complaining about the headlight not being leveled in the previous service (Post which I had tried to do that myself but could not fix it)but they have "Lowered" it in this one. Now the highbeam and the low beam throw light in the same region <facepalm>. The headlights overall could have been better. Internationally, people seem to be moving to Projectors(BkMoto) or even better looking Ninja636 stock projectors - (Direct fit -USD200/-). May be one day !

Here are some of the pictures with my usual ride buddies (breakfast, Shivanasamudra and other breakfast rides).

Somewhere in Coorg - Tamara Resort

              Kolar Breakfast ride

Shivanasamudra ride - this one was special. Last time this group did a ride, it was to ooty and the P220 was brand new then with other bikes being a Zma and r15- each special in its own way. 5 years later almost, getting together for a ride was awesome. One person had acquired what he dreamed for years - Triumph Street triple, the other had acquired his second Japanese make (who initially started off with Brit make in his mind) after returning back to India. Anyhow before and today !

              Before - Nov 2010

              Today: Feb 2015

To many more miles and moments! Cheers !

My humble request to all the owners is that please do write about your ownership experience for the lesser fortunates to just imagine and enjoy what you experience in real. Search for niggles, even if you have to nitpick and share your difficulties so that future owners can learn.

I have been a N250 fan since I first saw it in an auto expo in mumbai in Nov 2007 but could never afford one. By the time I felt I could buy one, N300 came and the price stamped was way out of my reach, yet again. Now I would probably end up buying a KTM RC390 for its unimaginable value for money factor but i still and would always enjoy reading about the Ninja300.
So people, i know you are all busy but do take time to write about your machine or atleast post pictures for us to drool over. Pictures from Google is never as satisfying as the ones taken and uploaded by actual owners here.
Yes, you are correct. There are very few issues with the bike, hence not many posts complaining about it. Regarding ownership experience, I guess people usually post their buying experience, first 1000 kms experience, and then as and when they munch 5000 or 10000 kms or go for a really long trip.

The bike is so robust that it allows you to do a lot of mods or customise it to your taste and it wont even break a sweat.

A lot of people in my group have gone ahead with insane number of mods and the bike just keeps going strong.

Watch out for my post, as I will be completing 13000 Kms soon, along with a few mods that I have planned in next few weeks.

                The list of mods are:

                1. Nissin front brake cylinder
                2. Clutch and front brake lever with yoke from Ninja 400/650 (love those Aluminium finished adjustable levers )
                3. EBC/Brembo sintered front brake pads
                4. HEL Brake lines (Red colour mostly, I got a green Ninja)
                5. Detent arm with ceramic bearings from FactoryPro
                6. Smog plates to stop Exhaust gas Re-circulation.

I got the headlight lowered, and it gets a lot low than what we think. Now I can see it even in daylight! My upper is still targeted bang ahead, as I use it mainly for car drivers who don't lower their headlight.

I have ordered a HID kit, so will update its performance once I get it installed.

EDIT: Is there any group in Pune for Sunday rides?

No group in Pune that I'm aware of for N300. There is one for N650 though. If you see a green N300 (me) along with a black bonneville - do hail and introduce yourself. Our usual rides are Lavasa, amby valley and sometimes Wai.

Eagerly Waiting for your ownership experience.
Today went to KTM showroom just to check out the RC 390, yet again but was completely blown away by the Ninja 300 standing right beside the RC. Now I am again confused if I am making the right decision of going for RC390
I am hoping to buy within a month or two. Choices, really do spoil you

Nothing against RC390. If touring is one of the focus - then the range of RC390 may become an issue. You have to plan your fuel stops depending on your route. Just wanted to highlight this as "range" is often neglected. But it is a moot point for commuting and most of recreational race track events.

RC390 has more dedicated sports position than Ninja 300. Also, check whether existing users are having any vibrations or quality issues.

RC twins are too uncomfortable to sit and it's got a lot of issues going on. saw an rc 200 yesterday in thane svc which had a fan issue and the owner just got the bike a week ago.

Issues cropping up on RCs is what made me decide to wait just a wee bit more. Confused between thrill and value for money as against expensive and smooth ownership experience.
I have read every post in the ownership thread of both- N300 and RC390. Though RC is value for money and does most of the things better than the N300, i am falling for the latter just for sheer reliability factor. Isn't paying almost double the amount justified Just for reliability. Ok, and good looks too.
I plan to keep my ride for 5 years at least. Not much of a tourer. But an avid advocate of ABS in motorcycles. Only if N300 ABS was launched, all my problems would have been solved. Not even a news on whether kawasaki plans to bring the abs version.
Also a problem is in my area there is no Zero Dep insurance . Only 3rd party insurance which means its only good to get your bike registered and keep the police away. Would i be risking too much? Btw, in my 3 yrs of riding NS, i never met with an accident, just to let you know that I am a pretty level headed rider. But still accident dont come telling.
And seriously, none of your have faced any issue with youd bike? Is it so perfect?

Hi Buddy!! Sorry to keep you guys waiting. After my last post I had a crash on my Ninja and I was waiting for it to get fixed. Nothing major, just RHS fairing got damaged along with some scratches on the headlamp. However, 0 dep saved the day, and I had to pay only 1000 bucks against total cost of 56000.

Once I got the bike ready, it took me couple of weeks to get comfortable on it. I commute 60 KMs daily on my Ninja, so getting used to the gearing of this twin pot takes some time. Once comfortable, I was all set to carry out the mods mentioned before. I called up Mr. Vikram from Motozone and fixed an appointment for the below mods.

                                1. Change of brake pads to Brembo sintered pads
                                2. Installation of detent arm from Factory Pro.

Other mods like change of brake line is scheduled for next month.

Ninja already has a smooth engine and equally smooth gearbox. With installation of detent arm, shifting has become lot more precise and smooth. There is a noticeable difference in shift qualty, and quick shifts have become lot more easy. However, just like the R15, this is a high revving motor, so it loves to be shifted higher up.

I will pass the verdict once I have done 10,000 kms with the new detent arm. Initial impression is quite good.

A special mention about Mr. Vikram. His way of working is just great. I had never seen a torque wrench in my life, and I was pleasantly surprised to see him use the torque wrench to tighten all the bolts. His work is very systematic, and you feel happy that your bike is in the right hands.

I have never been disappointed either by his work or by his words. He never says no to anything you ask for. You want a Nuke installed on your bike, and he may have a plan for that. Just kidding

Regarding Brembo pads, these are just awesome. Braking has become sharp and stopping distance has reduced a lot. Modulating the brakes while taking a corner has also become very smooth. the bite is there, however, it is not too hard to cause unwanted lock ups.

I have used Nissin sintered pads before this. If stock pads are 5/10, Nissin are 7/10 & Brembo ones are definitely 9/10. With brakes, I do not like ones that are too sharp, that will lockup easy and has very little room for modulation. With Brembo pads, braking has just become perfect which was the Achilles heels for the 300.

I am expecting braking to improve further with installation of HEL brake lines next month.

Coming back to your topic of getting confused between RC and Ninja, it depends on what you desire from the bike. If you are looking for VFM and dont care too much about quality, refinement, reliabilty then RC is for you. If you can live with minor niggles or dont mind visiting service center apart from regular service then RC is for you. Yes, RC is lot quicker and faster than the 300.

A Ninja 300 buyer is clearly not looking for VFM from his machine or isn't exactly looking for more bhp per Rupee. He is somebody who loves and appreciates quality. Trust me each and every component gives same performance through out its life. Performance is consistent and there are no niggles that would worry you.

If I were to buy a bike today, I would choose Ninja over RC again. And, it is true, Ninja grabs lot more attention than RC. Park them side by side, or park one ninja among a group of RC, and Ninja still grabs lot more attention.
