Yes they are. I've seen folks replace their 200 black rims with the 390's.Originally posted by Gunslingin_Ridr View PostAlso are D390 and D200 rims same? No problem in switching between them? I'm looking to go black. Any input will be appreciated

I too hate the orange rims of the Duke 390. Love the black rims of D200.Originally posted by Gunslingin_Ridr View PostAlso are D390 and D200 rims same? No problem in switching between them? I'm looking to go black. Any input will be appreciated. Thanks.
Also, anybody knows any way by which the PILLION SEAT SIZE/ LENGTH of the Duke 390 can be increased?? Would be really grateful if someone can give me a solution.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Hi everyone, i am new here and its my first post.
I own a 2016 rc390 and i want to change its stock horn. I feel irritated with the stock one.
Please suggest some good horn with loud and decent sound. Also it should get fixed on the place of stock horn i mean i dont want to mess up with any electricals etc.

Dual horns in order of highest selling to lowest:Originally posted by kunal24 View PostHi everyone, i am new here and its my first post.

1. Roots Windtone- Sells the highest. Check the sound before buying. It's a trumpet kind of sound. Make sure u like it before buying,
2. Hella,
3. Minda, etc- I installed this one from the Apache RTR. Bought it from the TVS workshop for Rs.650/-. I like the sound very much. It's a sweet-sounding dual horn.[emoji16] [emoji16]
4. Other brands are there like Denso, Stiebel, etc.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
I am approaching a year of ownership and have been extremely pleased with everything from the service to the way the bike has been so far. Just completed my first paid service a few days back and that's when I noticed something alarming. My oil view port appears to have smoked up. Did my bike burn the oil it had in there? No smoke from the exhaust yet other than the occasional white smoke on cold starts on cool mornings. It is mildly worrying cause there is a possibility that something is seriously wrong. I would love some feedback on this. I usually check oil and coolant levels every week but missed a check a week or so earlier. The bike isn't behaving unusually at all, but this does slightly worry me.
P.S I did get my cracked air box replaced under warranty during the service and there was some mild oil deposit in the filters. Could this be an after effect?Must ride on!

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
I've just recently bought an RC390 but let me tell you about my R15 v2. Same thing happened, i got busy with work and skipped my routine check by a week since it was due for service anyway. The mechanic told me that the oil level was very low and that the engine is going to have problems. Sure enough within a week it deteriorated rapidly. Now i need to get the top end and cylinder-piston kit replaced. Surprisingly it hasn't lost much power but there's a strange vibration and the feel of the engine is not good - i can't really describe it but it's there. Basically, if you are riding hard you absolutely need to keep a regular check on the oil level. You only need to forget it once to screw the engine. On the 390 with the sight glass it's easy to do a quick check by just bending down and pulling on the seat to straighten the bike. No need to get an accurate reading, just to check so see if any oil shows up at all in the sight glass. I would recommend getting the bike checked from a good mechanic.Originally posted by ananthu View PostI am approaching a year of ownership and have been extremely pleased with everything from the service to the way the bike has been so far. Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Thanks, but I do check it every week and got the oil changed earlier than the service intervals every single time. This is just a recent development that has me startled. The bike is fine and so was the viewport until I checked it 2 days back, exactly 2 days after the service/oil change.Originally posted by incipient View PostI've just recently bought an RC390 but let me tell you about my R15 v2. A picture would help.Originally posted by ananthu View Post. My oil view port appears to have smoked up.
If the oil appears cloudy/greyish then it's coolant mixing with the oil.
Also please open the air filter box and check for any oily residue.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Coolant leak is highly unlikely because I rarely have to top up the coolant. But I am not going to rule it out based on my assumptions. I will open up the air filter later tomorrow and get a picture after the sun rises.Originally posted by s1d View PostA picture would help.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Hey guys my rear metzeler tyre has worn out to the small indicators inside the grooves...I got about 12000 kms from the rear. Is this normal? My front tyre still has a lil life left. Should I replace the rear now or wait for the front to wear off?

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
I think it would be good to replace the rear and use the front. The front Metz normally runs a lot more than the rear from what I've heard. In my case rear gave up in 10k and front is still running (crossed 14k)Originally posted by iBerry View PostHey guys my rear metzeler tyre has worn out to the small indicators inside the grooves...I got about 12000 kms from the rear. 12,000 seems ok. Thats about how much I could manage to extract though there are people who would have extracted upto~15k.
Do not wait for the front to wear out. Replace the rear tyre. Else its a disaster waiting to happen!A lone amateur built the ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic...
