Plug is healthy too. I'm back to no stress riding to office now. I looked at the fuel sediment bowl and lines too and cleaned that as well. Enjoying a good tune now. Bike is humming happily. Thanks for the info
Hows your GS? Still in break-in period or ripping period?
Thats good news.

Coming to the latest suzuki in my garage, its being ripped hard. The first 200kms was all it was given to break in @4000 rpm. Its fun to rip, got good power at revs >6000. Its smooth and has got a uniform power delivery. Bike is heavy and brakes are good. First service done at 1000kms. Done 1300 till date. I have to curse the service center guys. Chain was over tightened carb poorly tuned, clutch free play poorly set and much more. I felt I never should have given for service. Spent an hour fixing all these poor workmanship. I don't want to spend hours waiting for the service center guys to fix it, so took I took the spanners and got it fixed.

Coming to the old Suzuki in my garage,

She has been abandoned for more than a month now without the front wheel(friend borrowed it and broke his wrist in a practice session ). Need to get the tire back, change the clutch plates and oil. Its been sometime since I gave her some spank.

gixxer_junkie_m: Your words have had the intended impact-after putting in this much on refurbishing, I'm not prepared to let go of the bike. After seeing my friend's Xtreme camshaft getting busted due to lack of tappet adjustment, I feel that mechanics are the major culprit in prematurely ending our happy times with our beloved bikes.
However, it is also possible that I have ruined the new valves by ripping immediately after the transplant.
I'm mostly giving it to my Yamaha mechanic so that he can clean the carb, adjust the valve clearance, smoothen out the front suspension niggles etc.
Hope all goes well. Will update once the works are done.

Good thing buddy,i am sure your mech was eager to take her our of your hands. There are fieros which have done more than 1,30,000 with nothing more than a clutch plate set change. So your bike can do the same as long as you listen to what she's saying. For starters, like i've told you many times, get her tuned on a co machine and use Gulf pride 4T plus 20W50 ,or motul mineral in 50 grade and she'll be grateful to you. Most of the time it's the mech's who ruin the bikes and we add to it by being fussy about things.Don't worry as long as she's not drinking oil, there would be nothing wrong with the valvetrain, these bikes are built to take abuse.

Exactly 1.75 lakh kms in my case until I decided to change the cylinder kit.

How's your bike now? and which oil are you using?By the way were any other parts in the head changed?because a bike which has done that kinda mileage would have needed at least some head work.

my bike !!!!! good very good indeed .If I had known that a simple cylinder kit change will do this kind of difference I would have done it atlest 50k kms earlier .
head reworked and valves changed thats all I think.

What parts are included in the cylinder kit?
When you say 'head reworked', were the valves lapped or changed? What about cam parts-camchain, tensioner, guide etc.?

Was it difficult sourcing TVS ones? There is an aftermarket brand called TOP even they would work. But original is always the best.

Spares, especially engine parts are readily available atleast here. Body panels and plastics would be tough to come by, though.
My disc is still squeaking after using a fake disc pad set once. I have kept one pair in spare.

Yes the valves Tvs sold with the cylinder kit didnt fit it was a little bit small but since I broke th cover they refused to take back so it went a waste and then I got a after market one from outside shop.

Had seen one Company called ASK in a shop some time back. Did you use those? Sometimes the wheel needs truing or wheel bearing gets loose and squeaks develop due to uneven wear from the disc and pad kit.

Yeah, sometimes they dont take back opened packaged items. Some aftermarket Companies like SWISS and TOP make decent spares, but original always offers peace of mind. Which Company were your valves? I had seen TOP ones, but for few rupees more TVS ones were available here in Bombay. Took a little waiting but got them.

Can you give some info about the free flow you are using in fiero?
Also where did you source replacement piston for 195cc bore?

The free flow is nothing but the removal of the only baffle present in the fiero megaphonic type exhaust and a bigger dia straight end-pipe.On top of that a wider 30mm inner dia bend pipe will let her breathe freely at the top of the rev range.

The piston kit is that of the ZMA ,made by USHA pistons and rings. This along with the 67mm one and forged ones are available at lathes which specialize in such works. AS lathe works and ZEN engineering works are a couple of em in bangalore. The cylinder is that of the stock fiero, which was bored out and a new cast iron sleeve installed for this piston with honing done.

@ALL

The replacement clutch which is available as OE now is not even able to handle the compression from go.It started slipping right from the beginning in first gear,it can handle the compression in the rest of the gears for now though. So,i will be upgrading to the RTR clutch set up soon. The stock japanese clutch was able to handle the boost in compression and cc's without any issues till now.But the 200 buck chinese crap is slipping right from the beginning. That too when the gearing has been made tall with the 15 teeth gb sprocket,if she had the stock 13 teeth one, then i think it would start slipping in all the gears.
