A good news, today i was at the NGK distributor and i was pleasantly shocked to find that NGK has now released the surface gapped NGK R CR7EK ,the twin electrode spark plug and i am assuming that this is done to get the apache RTR market. Needless to say i bought one immediately along with the CPR8EA GP9 i had gone to buy.I am currently using the bosch twin electrode plug of the RTR as due to fueling issue with the carb ended up ruining 3 spark plugs including the costly iridium one along with the nickel and platinum ones. The difference in quality between the indian made bosch spark plug, which lacked symmetry right off the box,in comparison with the japanes made NGK is glaringly obvious!! So this is a good news for all fiero/RTR owners!!
It is Good to see that a NGK plug for the Fiero/RTR has at last arrived...The "G Power" plug will surprise you with better cold start, acceleration and better FE more than the stock plug...

Observation for the leakage is that leakage occurs during riding from all sides of the head. The head is glued with "M-Seal" which the mech says is a horrible work. Its my fault that I didnt ask the owner about it, I thought it was the carbon, grease etc that usually stocks on all bikes. I spoke to the owner & he says he has no idea as his brother was riding it & he has done all the work & the bike was lying for 2 months before he took out for selling.

Yes,i love Gp series for their economy in price and superior performance. The thing is a gp series plug along with iridium one got ruined because of fuel fouling due to a rich carb setting. The carb needs to be tuned with a co machine sooner rather than later, because the tuning done by the mech(He's good) was too rich.I tried all things like heating it on a gas stove etc,but it would get fouled repeatedly as soon as some throttle was given,or choke engaged when the engine was cold after starting up and idling to warm the engine up.Later i learnt that because of increase in compression due to opening of the throttle the spark can get blown off.I always reduce the gap as well on single electrode spark plugs,to adjust for the increase in compression, but i guess once fuel fouled the plugs are goners. So i switched to the hotter bosch twin electrode one and let me be specific here that i measured the insulator length in comparison to the stock NGK R CR7E to find that the bosch one is definitely hotter.I went for a protruding center electrode one as in bosch and the honda uni CPR8 hoping it won't foul up.So far the bosch plug is showing that it indeed is hotter. That's why i am happy to have found the NGK R CR7EK,which is cooler by design and hoping that the surface gap design will perform well. Finally the solution will be to get the carb tuned on a co machine.

I am a Mother goddess worshiper sir, hence i'll stick to chasing her skirt and not loose my head by thinking of being god at any other thing.

I'm an amateur photographer as well & I intend to do some Pictography work on my journey with Fiero & other bikes that I intend to purchase in coming times.

I'm also looking to acquire a Suzuki Shogun, if time & money permits.

It has a tacho, but its not working. Maybe a case of faulty worm or cable or could be all of the aforementioned ones.

To be honest, I cant wait to give it to servicing tomorrow & beat up a highway..!!

Also, I'm wondering about the back pain that I have. Could you guys guide me on that..? Should I go for a new seat or something..?

I came across this mod on a fiero & intend to do the same. Foot pegs a bit behind, though I know it will obstruct the kick-start, but I guess there should be a way around this as well. THIS ISNT MY FIERO

Hey Folks,

Apologies for not putting up the pictures of the problematic engine leakage, I was pushed for time at work. I gave the bike to the TVS Service centre in Thane. The mech said that it will take a week to get it all together.

gixxer_junkie- The mech did talk about head gasket & all. But I couldnt understand much as he too was super busy. Apparently they dont have mechs for all the bikes & as it is for Fiero they have like 1-2 of them.
Mech said Tachometer would be a problem so suggested to buy the entire assembly which would cost 3.2k, so I'm not going for it.
Further he said, he will decarbonize & flush wash or something like that to change the engine oil.
For the kick they said, they will have to open the engine & get it done. However, if pistons, crank or anything is damaged, I will have to wait for 2 months as there are no spares with them & at times they will have to get it from Mysore. So I asked them to get the bike fixed with the oil leakage thing.

Cuz I read from this thread that imjoshee has some Atul Scooters nearby his place which has spares for Fiero, so I would really need his help.

Lets see what the mech says.

That's one helluva good mod job! I've gone for a custom/el cheapo modification job for the rear-sets on my ride.Back then RTR was still in incubation stage and running on the race tracks,so i pretty much had no other choice.Nanotech has gone for the rear-sets of the RTR,it will improve the handling and reduce your back pain too when a lower handle bar will be combined with it.Go for it.Contrary to the belief,a sporty riding position will put the weight on the arms and shoulders, thus helping in keeping the back straight and less stressed.

@All

Yesterday i bought a newish, used RTR head from a lathe for 2.9k which included their labor charges to check it and set it right. This is the same lathe from which i had gotten the 200cc conversion. Then i also bought a new RTR180 bore kit from the authorized tvs distribtor for 2.5k.So i will be going for the stock RTR set-up along with a bigger bend-pipe,hopefully in the coming week. What i noticed is that TVS has done some changes to the RTR piston and rings ,because the piston is light and roughly at most just 25 grams more than a stock fiero piston. The rtr piston had all the 3 rings in it were as the stock fiero piston i have has just the oil ring in it.The piston rings of the new RTR seem thinner and the piston skirts has a different coating similar to the p220 one.If i am not wrong when nanotech bought the same kit all this were absent. The piston kit is from usha, which is a good thing.
Coming to the reason for going for this stock set-up is that,i had thought of keeping the 200cc mod as it is in it's high compression state and buy a uncle's friend's 2010 dec model suzuki gs150r ,to be used as a everyday bike. But due to some family reasons,he decided to postpone the purchasing of the scooter and hence has decided to keep the bike for now.So i decided to get my bike's compression brought back to stock state.I'll be keeping the 200cc bore and modified fiero head with me.As i had previously mentioned, the sleeve was put by lathe and hence i wasn't sure as to how long it will last.Though it still has the same boosted compression state even today with it's usha piston kit of ZMA.I had two options, either spend 3k plus to go for RTR clutch assembly ,or to go for stock compression state.I chose to go for the stock compression state and that along with the extra steel plate mod done of vignesh's method. The stock fiero clutch set should hold up and i will get the stock reliability of RTR kit.

Noticeable are the front & rear disc brakes; Mono-shocks; Silencer; kick is missing so it must be a self-start one; Front end is different; Foot pegs; FZ's front console including the tacho I guess if looked closely; and finally the seat (looks comfy!) & the tyres obviously!! Looks like a sweet ride to me!

The second picture made it clear that the guy has ruined it! It has rear-sets and has high, wide handle bars with high front fender.Meaning, the handling would be a gamble at best and the modification job is ruined with half the bike in track mode and the front in dirt track mode. The modifier most probably did this without any clue as to what he was getting done and what are the reasons for which rear-sets etc are made.
