As psr has mentioned, your bike is running lean. All indications are that of a carb setting being on the leaner side.Like i told you before, get it tuned on a co machine.
His opinion is: The valves are' tight' i.e., tappet clearance needed to be set after the valves were changed&this is why the idle fluctuation&overheating happens only when the engine is warm.
That said, he wants to try this out before tuning the carb.
He's also willing to check the camchain tensioner setting.
I'll go to him one of these days&let ya know how it turns out.

Re: Fiero/FieroF2/FieroFx
Hello Folks,
Apologies for not updating since over a month now. Personal issues & traveling kept me busy.
Just too sad about the things happening, rather not happening with my bike
Its been over a month now & the TVS Service Centre guys haven't fixed my bike yet & they haven't come up with anything positive. I checked out at the service centre last Wednesday to see the progress as the Service Centre Manager said that they had begun working on my bike & that they would finish up in two days. On arriving at the Service Centre, I was shocked to find my bike in 'as it was' condition. It looked like they didnt even touch a screw! :O
Speaking to the on-duty Manager was even more painful. All of a sudden I felt like I was in retard-nation, that bugger looked at me in utter silence & then mumbled a few words & then went on to drink water & then moved around the Service Centre in slow-mo. Why are these Service Centre being so difficult?
So gutted at the moment, missed two bike trips with friends & everyday I just keep dreaming about riding. MY LIFE'S A BLACK HOLE
WHAT DO I DO NOW??

A famous mech here named Rajesh was asking 5k for a ruined junkyard RTRhead,i tried at other places and found pretty much a new one for 2.5k!.The same mech asks for 3 days, for engine re-build and he had quoted 10k+ for it using a used clutch kit of the RTR without a used RTR head.So i went to another mech who has a modest garage and he did the entire engine re-build in 2 hours flat! I had taken the bike in the morning and we had opened up the fiero head to find out even the stock fiero silencer can be fitted with a additional gasket without any welding works for the bend pipe.Other than the closing of SAI points, there was nothing else to be done! Meaning, there weren't any modifications needed at all and in the evening i sat through the re-build.That's all it takes. His labor charges for the re-build was 400 bucks!! So you have to do some leg-work first, instead of throwing money at showrooms or fancy mechs.Last edited by gixxer_junkie_m; 08-31-2013, 05:31 PM.Life begins, once you hit the power band !!

@All:- By the way since I have gone back to stock setup, does anyone want to sell the original Fiero CDI? I have the RTR one with me at present.

Magaa, since you have many contacts, Can you check and see, if any one wants to sell his original CDI?

Re: Fiero/FieroF2/FieroFx
Ohkay guys...
I almost got my Fiero today But the bloody service people didnt carry out the minor works, which I had explicitly stated & got it written on the Job card. I FEEL SO ****ING MISERABLE.
The dealer guy asked me to come down & collect the bike, so I went in an all happy mood, only to find out that the bike is half done...Looked like a poor man's patched dress
They hadnt fixed 1. Headlight 2.Indicator panel 3. Tachometer 4. Battery was drained
The idiotic mechanic was totally insane & drunk I COULD SMELL DESI ALCOHOL ON HIM WHILE HE SPOKE. Such a let down.
The manager said, the Ignition switch wasnt working, whereas it was working when I had brought it, so he changed the ignition lock & all the other locks which burnt another hole of 1k.
I took the bike for a little test drive & IT DOESNT EXACTLY FEEL THE SAME WAY AS IT USED TO :'( its a bit rough now, like more hoarse. Also the brakes arent working which, earlier were atleast decently working. Now the manager & the mech said that the entire drum brake unit needs to be replaced
For the tachometer, they said they would get a new one for 1.5k! Also the silencer is making noises, for which they said the convertor was bust & I need to get a new silencer.
It is an expensive ordeal for me, as well.
They took care of the leaking head by getting some work done on it, put some new sleeve in it etc etc. new engine oil, servicing et al so that was 3k. An used head for 2.5k which they got from some lathe guy.
So in all its around 6k. I will be getting the proper amount by tomorrow & I shall update it.
Man, I really needed imjoshee's help, cuz he's from Mumbai & knows things about the parts & availability. FML
FEELING SO DEPRESSED

Re: Fiero/FieroF2/FieroFx
Hey Buddy,
Congrats on getting your hands on the Fiero, I still miss mine .
From what I read, you either have the Fiero F2 or FX because the classic Fiero didn`t have the tachometer.
To be frank you have spent a whole lot of money and got nothing. AFAIK for 2.5K you will get a brand new head and the ASC guys anyways rob people off unless you know them well.
I can guide you to my mechie, the parts dealer & the lathe guys where you will get good service, but be prepared to run and have patience to get all the stuff back in one piece.
Due to hectic office life, I am unable to log on often. I will drop you a PM with my contact numbers & we can then take it forward from there.
Regards,
Imjoshee

Folks, I have got the bike today & though its performing really good, I think it can be much better...Like way much better with better brakes & a bit of work here & there.
Yet, after spending that kinda money (6000/-), they said that there's still much work to do & handed me a quotation of a further 4.5k to get the Fiero super good.

Hey Vishal, Thanks for contacting man.
I know that I have been screwed about, but I had no other option as there are virtually no mechs here in Thane for the Fiero. BTW, its the classic fiero of 2001 (the mech said about the tachometer)
There was this local mech who said he could do the work in two days with 2.5k as the expenditure for the head. I should have gone with that. But after reading about the availability of parts, I decided to go for the ASC people, who have robbed me of my money & time
I have some more ideas to work upon. Like the Foot Peg thing ( I had posted a picture of one such Fiero having that modification), further a handle bar change, changing the look of the bike to a cross between Pulsar 200-Apache 160. Though I have to work upon that. But these are a couple of ideas that are at the top of my mind.
I would really appreciate Suggestions & Advices.
THANKS ALL

Re: Fiero/FieroF2/FieroFx
Hi Ya All!!
Okay..So I met imjoshee & its been a wonderful time meeting him (this guy's a cyborg :P )
With his advice, I shall be getting my Fiero enabled to unleash what it does the best.
Though the bike is functional, but there are many issues that need to be taken. My heart sank when Dr. Joshi pointed out the work needed to be carried out. When I started back for home, I thought of the bike as a limping war-soldier & I was even more depressed. But after a few kms, my worries vanished & I was really happy with the bike's performance. Even after that diagnosis, the bike was really performing very good. Except the fact that I cant totally unleash it.
Following are the diagnosis of imjoshee, the Dr. :
1. The Engine needs to be opened again for rework as the firing isnt set right & maybe we will find other issues.
2. A new silencer would be better
3. Brakes need to be set right
4. Chain Aligners needed to be added
5. Powder coating for the chassis
6. Speedometer needs to be fixed
7. Headlights
I was wondering if anyone can tell me if I can fix any other speedometer in the Fiero. Also whats the cheaper option in case of a Silencer issue.
