  • Re: Hero Karizma ZMR (2014 version)

I have been following this thread as i'm a karizma fan boy. currently I own a cbz xtreme with 62,000 and karizma r with 32,000.

I got a chance to ride my best freind's pal's zmr. the vechile is AP registered and he has clocked 3800 kms.

I'm just comparing the new model with old one:

    1. notable difference is fairing size. the old one looked big, this one looks more companct
    2. the handle bar postion has come down. as a result heftier guys will have problems of handle bar touching their thighs in U turns.
    3. the bike has got more weight in the front end than the old one.
    4. the new handle bar postion makes crouching easier and the postion pushes you to be a holigan rather than a crusier.
    5. the fairing build quality seems to be better. only negligible vibrations.
    6. a big relief is the horn. It is good enough to make people hear you.

thumb the starter, the engine is the traditional zmr/zma with the same exhaust note. the gear shift is neither slick nor vauge. I had a problem of false neutrals
while upshifting and downshifting from 1 to 2nd. amazingly the gear shift gets a bit softer as your rev a bit and shift.

shifting from 2nd to 3rd at 3000 felt vauge, rev to 4000 and shift, it slots with precision. the paint quality and switch gear are of top quality and sure this zmr will have less fairing vibes even when abused.

the less for the pillion could had a bit of cushion in it, the pillion seat is ridicusouly high and a high speed land change makes the head dizzy. the front tall visor is so comfortable as a rider, you can crouch behind it and let me wind travel above your head.

there is a problem which i was a pillion, my freind is shorter than me ,even in uncrouched poisiton of my freind, i feel the wind hittting right on my chest and face.w hen he crouched a bit, i felt as if the wind was slapping in my face.

Now coming to the important point of acceleration and top speed: I'm not promoting road racing , the moderators can feel free to edit or delete this post if it's promoting rash riding.

we pitted this bike with my karizma r. i was riding my karizma r(75kg) and my freind was riding the zmr(79kg).

the zmr touched a top whack of 133 while driven by my freind and while i was getting my zma to catch 127. the zmr was a fair distance away from me at full whack for a stretch of 4kms. while i drove, i touched 134 on the speedo.

    some areas of improvement:

the brakes could have been better. They are progressive not like the sort of bite that you get from r15. I have read reviews saying the engine is rough at 5000rpm, but trust me the zmr was smooth even at 115, only at the high end you a bit of roughness. the traditional foot peg vibes are being carried to the new one also.

overall the bike is very good and will keep up the zma tradition.

I will be seeing of my xtreme in 2 months, i have plan to buy the zmr and my mind says to wait for hx and i have already saving for a new bike

I won't pay a single penny, mailed hero customer care, they told me that response will be given within 48 hours.

And Red zmr in the pics looks smoking hot.

wasn't much of a review.. expected more.. I can also just go on and on talk about the appearance of the bike.. I don't think my ZMR takes 4.6 seconds to reach 60 kmph and hundred comes in at faster than the timings they have achieved..
4.6sec? that's bull shit!!!! I do it in probably 4.6 at every traffic signa!!!.... I am pretty confident that 3.6 seconds(as quoted by HMC) is definitely possibel... and also, the only range the bike "looks like" putting effort is 65-75... post that, reaching 90+ is like butter!!! I have crossed 95+ only once to just see that 100 mark (I made it real slow, for the bike's sake) so I don't know about 100Kmph thing

I won't say Hooligan!! but yes, the stance compels me to drive faster by 5-7 kmph, also it makes me feel confident, the way I would have felt had I had ridden it a 5-7Kmph slower

That is because we seat the pillion in a wrong manner. The ideal way for seating the pillion (on a perched rear) is that the pillion wraps his/her arms around the rider's waist and rests his/her palms on the tank. While accelerating, the pillion can lock hands on the rider's tummy and while braking the tank comes as a grip! This helps avoid falling on the rider in the event of sudden braking.

Absolutely correct.. I didn't know how to put it in words so I kept my hands tied from typing it incorrectly

Auto companies invite xBhp,Team BHP and the likes for official rides and first impressions. HMC hasn't so far!
I wanted to review ZMR but alas...

How is pillion comfort of ZMR 2014..?? I didn't focused on this aspect at all as i was very excited at that time. After looking at pictures I think pillion comfort will be a lot better than R15 as pillion seat is well cushioned and spacious in comparison to R15 but height can be a issue as its looking similar to R15. Correct me if I am wrong...

It's about 2 fingers higher than R15's (courtesy 18 inch wheels). But yes, a tad bit more comfortable.

The pillion seat is good, decently cushioned I would say, no saddle sores, nor a bumpy ride. I have got 2 complaints from my pillions
                    1) Balcony view, thudding into me when I apply the breaks (at least, the split part is well cushioned unlike R15 to avoid any possible injury ) - for this the best possible solution is in Divya Sharan's comment in the previous page, but riding a bike of this category would have it's own disadvantages- most people would feel uncomfortable to such a posture as mentioned in the solution, but anyways I have already come to terms with it.
                    2) Short girls can step on the foot rest and sit like they do even in short cruisers like classic 350, but short guys feel a kind of embarrassed to do it the the way stereotyped "GIRLISH", which I feel is a rubbish complaint.

Maybe more on long(er) rides. I have experienced a 27 km trip at max (at a stretch) as pillion so far.

The pillion seat is too high and if your mother wears saree, its going to be quite difficult to get on the bike..
