  • Re: Bajaj Discover 150S & 150F

    Friends,
I am a new member to xbhp.com from Chennai and currently own a HH Splendor and looking for upgrading to a faster bike with some extra features as well. I am 5’4” tall and 67 kgs. I want to choose between Honda CB Shine, Discover 150S and Discover 150F. I am looking for max. displacement bike with decent mileage, ride comfort all at a commuter perspective (not a sporty guy). Basically to cut down my office commute time and also due to the fact that my Splendor is getting old. I drive totally about 46-48 kms up and down in a day. I test drove 150F last week. Is surprisingly light (for 132 kg), smooth going, good comfort and gear shift is also smooth. My only worry is the future of Discover bikes given how Bajaj has added/dropped bikes in this brand in an 'I-don't-care' approach and also concerned about several reviews complaining about mileage and vibrations.

As for CB Shine, yet to test drive but feel its still an upgrade to another plain Jane bike with extra displacement. Also not sure whether it can give me a comfortable drive for 25 kms (one-way) and also concerned about vibrations and narrow tyres although mileage should be pretty decent. Pls help with your opinion.

      Hi there,

Firstly Shine isn't a substantial upgrade in terms of displacement. So, I wouldn't recommend it.

The new discovers have insane vibes. However the rear tire isn't narrow. Also, the seat is a pain in the *#@ if used for a prolonged period.

      Cheers!

If your budget is upto 76000 then get the new Honda unicorn 163cc.available in January best bike in all department. It is like little karizma. Mileage is more than 45plus in the city traffic and 50-55 kmpl on the highway.

Thanks for the responses Exattic and deep007. I am actually confused now. I also went through the specs of Yamaha bikes (ss 125 ; SZ-ss) and also CB Trigger, Pulsar 135, Pulsar 150, but feel either the saddle height is high or the bike is heavy. It looks like my choices are limited. Don't want to consider Hero bikes again and TVS bikes as well.

Unicorn 160 is available only towards the middle/end of next month, am I right? And the price is little higher end. How did you get the mileage figures?

But I never suggest anyone to go for brand new product until and else it proved in the market like a problem in Suzuki inazuma... And many discover who came in the market and gone

I think for all your need 150s is good..but you don't expect premium segment bike..I also commute 25km (one way) daily..vibe is there after 70kmph
Pulsar 135 is outdated now..150 is good but it is somewhat heavy..
Mileage is also good in new discovers about 55 in city and 58-60 on highway...
So if u compromise little on vibe then new discovers are good option for you

Pulsar 135ls is slower..engine stalls at certain moment..also its price is higher

Pulsar 150 is too heavy for a 150cc bike

Friends, Thanks for the responses. Will test drive 150S next week although its almost same as the 150F that I tested last week. Still have that little concern about the future of Discover brand. Don't have any idea about service standards in Bajaj service centers, availability/price of spare parts. Any idea?

Has anyone touched the top speed? I doubt it's more than 110 KMph.
