I measured that on a stopwatch and the Needle was exactly in the middle of 80-100.
Also, R15 reaches 90km/h in less than 10 seconds.

Fuel-Injection has nothing to do with High octane petrol. What decides whether your bike requires high octane is the compression ratio. High compression engines will require high octane petrol for optimum performance, be it FI or carbed.

I calculate with reserve to reserve
Both Shell Unleaded and Super are RON 91. Super has more additives added to it. I have used them both on my old R15, and now on the 390. Compared to other petrol bunks (IO/BP/HP), Shell is far better. Shell ULD is far better than BP Speed/HP Power/IO Extra Premium. Shell Super ULD is marginally better than Shell ULD. I use Shell ULD for my 390 most of the time.

Why do people recommend not to drive a bike above 40-50 till 2000km?

That is because the engine needs to be run-in.

                    Cheers!

That's nice. For past two days i have been travelling on highways, my mileage figure comes 60 on highways but once you cross above 80kmph & enter into cruising speed, It's getting worse.
I have plan to change engine oil after the second service.

                              In my case
My speed varied from 40-50kmph busy city roads
                              60-80kmph free city roads
                              100-110kmph on Highway
                              Mileage approx 55kmpl

I have switched to Motul 5100 15W50 at 2800 kms. Been two days now. I flushed the runin residue using 3M engine and crankcase flush prior to it.

The vibration has almost vanished and also the power has marginally increased. Gear shifting has become quite smooth too.

I'd recommend that you guys give it a shot.

Second service is at 4500kms couldn't wait.

                                Cheers!
