Congrats man!

Getting a mileage of 52.7kmpl on mild traffic. I\'ve covered around 1480kms and the mileage is consistent around 50kmpl Is anyone using wax/shampoo for cleaning and maintaining their own bike? Also, are there good engine guards available anywhere suited for this bike?

seat looks coooool .... Is it the seat cover or any white tapes you have pasted on the seat\'s edges.
And the mod of white tapes on RIMS is also cool..

arunlakra15: Yes.I\'m using 3M Wax Polish for giving that \"new bike\" shine. Works like a charm. It can be used for I guess around a hundred polishes because it spreads so well you have to use just a few drops of it. Use it after cleaning the area on which it is to be applied. And I\'m using 3M 4 Way Lubricant.Spray it on exposed nuts and bolts to prevent rusting. You can use it for cleaning the chain too but I haven\'t tried it for that yet so can\'t say. Do the spraying once in 10 days or so. More than sufficient. Got both from a local shop that sells paints. I got the engine guard as an accessory from the showroom. Works well.

livingsoul: Got seat cover done for 300Rs. No white tapes bro, just a skilled worker. It\'s part of the seat. Got the rim stickers for 150Rs.

A clearer pic of the seat cover. Notice the white stitching over the black border. And I also got the rear mudguard extension and the saree guard removed for 10Rs.

Hi all,I bought a black coloured gixxer a week back after reading great reviews here. Needless to say one of the best bikes I have ever driven. Thanks for such reviews. Such a smooth engine. If you drive at a speed of 60kmph in 5th gear you will feel that there is no engine in between your legs Have done around 300 kms till now with a speed not exceeding 60kmph with occasional 70-80 kmph. Its very difficult to stop your hand twisting the throttle with such an engine I need some advice. 1. I want to change the bulb as light beam is not strong enough for highways. I asked the service centre guy he said I can do it and it will not hamper the battery warranty. He even suggested me a shop where I can get it done. Should I go for it as showroom guys were against it?2. What type of engine oil should I get during the first service? I have read here about synthetic and semi synthetic engine oils but i dont know the difference. Please help me out. Thanks in advanceHappy riding go gixxer

Congrats on your purchase man. Buy riding gear to keep yourself safe,at least a helmet and gloves with protection. Lots of idiots on roads these days. Ride happy bro.

Hi guys!
So i shall be buying my first motorcycle, a Gixxer, tomorrow. Probably blue or white, still haven\'t made up my mind on that. Got the showroom guy to keep both in reserve! Is any colour particularly easy or difficult to maintain?
Importantly, please advise me on the checks to be performed before taking delivery. I want to ensure that the bike i get won\'t have been taken for \'test rides\' by the showroom staff before.
I also want to check if the model i\'ll get is a 2015-manufactured one. Any way to do this?
Any help will be greatly appreciated! Looking forward to becoming a Gixxer owner!

Ge the white one man. In case you crash or get any scratches on your bike\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s plastic panels, getting white paint for touch up won\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t be a problem. On the other hand, getting the exact shade of blue is near to impossible. You would have to paint it all with the paint you have which would really be a waste. The showrooms don\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t have the paints for the Gixxers yet (I asked). And anyways, the blue one and even the black one are pretty common on the streets now. So I suggest you get the white one.

The 2015 models will be manufactured from mid March 2015 onwards and will arrive in showrooms mid April. I got this info from two Suzuki dealers in my area. Whatever you buy before April 2015 will most probably be a Gixxer manufactured in the year 2014.

As for PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection), the easiest way to find out is to check tyre wear(if its too worn out,it could be their \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"test drive\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" vehicle), check if the portion of the engine exposed behind the front wheel is dirty(if its really dirty,it means the bike has probably been ridden a lot),and check the odometer reading(if greater than 20km,question the sales person why and where it was ridden.Otherwise it could just be him taking it to the RTO for registration before delivery. My bike\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s odometer reading was 14.2 or 14.5kms when I took delivery. I KNEW the RTO was around 8kms distance from the showroom one way so figured around 15kms back and forth),check if there is too much dust accumulated on the handles and switchgear(if there is,its yet another indication that it has been ridden \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"out\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" of the showroom many times),check if the front and rear foot pegs and if the gear lever are dirty(if they are,ou know the drill ).

These are all small things but hard to look out for in front of your dream bike. So keep your wits about you,and question EVERYTHING. All the best.

Thanks!! But surely some bikes have been manufactured in 2015 till now...it\'s the 16th of January. Haven\'t those stocks reached dealers?
I only asked because there were reports of rusting in the earlier batches and Suzuki said they would give an anti-rust coating from 2015 onwards.
I\'m thinking i\'ll ride with the showroom guy behind me upto the RTO! :P Also, the odometer isn\'t wired in before booking, i think. No guarantee it hasn\'t been ridden before that..!

I got that info from two showrooms bro. May be true may not be true. And yes the the odometers may be disconnected. But I have put up some other checks just in case which may come in handy.

Thanks man. The white rim stickers costed 150Rs. The white strips are not on the grab rails but are part of the seat cover. I\'ve written about it a few pages back. Check it out.
