Another strange problem I noticed last week when I went on a 130 km straight drive! Kept the engine speed between 3500 and 4500 rpm strictly. after riding 40+ kms, experienced gear loss or false neutral(unsure what is the correct term) a lot of times whenever I downshifted. For (e.g) I downshift from 5th to 4th gear and the gear indicator on the digital display goes blank(everything else displays fine) and when I press the gear lever to check if the 4th gear has been slotted in, I get a spongy feedback from the gear lever(no click sound, as if there is no gear). Then I have to release and hold the clutch a couple of times for the gear to finally slot in(at this time there was no gear). Happened frequently during that trip only on downshifting through all the gears twice and frequently between gears 5 to 4 to 3. Is it a gearbox issue or am I doing something wrong? Please advise folks.

You are not alone! I have done 600+ kms so far and my upshifts are okay(not the smoothest but pretty okay for a new bike) but the downshifts are so damn hard, I can hear it make a clicking noise every time I downshift.Originally posted by truelypulsarian View Post

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I have had the same issue. I think since the oil is a mineral one, it gets hot during long rides, increasing idling and engine harshness. Also, the gears doesn\'t slot in at times. So I suggest you to play the clutch a bit and downshift rather than downshifting through the gears by a single application of the clutch. Changing to Semi/Full Synth oil may reduce the gear shift issue but mineral oil helps in proper mating of the engine components. So till 10K KM mineral oil has to be used. Correct me if I\'m wrong..

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hi All, Done with first service at 830 KM. Now at 1250 Km. SO far the ride is very good. Smooth drive all the way in highest gear at 6.5 to 7 K RPM also. Able to go till 98 KMph because of traffic and pillion friend comfort .
But, since yesterday , I am facing issue with self starting the bike. After a drive of 40KM from Mahabalipuram to Chennai, I stopped bike for a coffee break. Later when i have tried to self start it, it doesn\\\'t start. It was mute . Not even a single sound of start came from it. However , kick start is working charmingly. The day after, the button start worked. But often I am facing issue with self start. Couldn\\\'t find the time to go to service guy. Did any one face this. Any steps to find the Root Cause ??Last edited by gslp456; 02-02-2015, 01:11 AM.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Fired on the show Room manager regarding this hard down shifting issue he came with me to the service Centre and reported the issue the service center head and the mechanic went for the drive and told that changing the spring in the clutch case will solve the issue completly. Initially i didnt belived thier words but after the work i was really suprised about the gear shifts both upshifts and downshifts are butter smooth i thanked them for thier brilliant work.
Work done was they removed the clutch case and changed the spring. According to them that spring is responsible for downshifting the gears as well as the upshifts.

Well good that the issue is fixed now. Even I will get the same work done. How long does the work take? Again, Thanks for the info.Originally posted by truelypulsarian View PostFired on the show Room manager regarding this hard down shifting issue he came with me to the service Centre and reported the issue the service center head and the mechanic went for the drive and told that changing the spring in the clutch case will solve the issue completly. Good news! Did they charge you for changing this spring or it was covered in warranty?Originally posted by truelypulsarian View PostFirst they said to leave the bike and told me to collect tommorow but after one hour i called them simply they told that the bike is ready and the issue is solved.Owns a baby Gixxer starting Jan '15

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
The oil change happens everytime the bike gets serviced. Which is two times as of now. First at 800kms and second time at 3600kms.Originally posted by sandeepcf View PostHow many oil changes happened in your 4000kms? Don\'t say only one change in the first service.
I am currently using 5w40 for the past 500kms and I am very happy with it. I am thinking of testing 10w30.
Harshness may be caused by Oil or improper carburetor tuning. Since you are getting only 35kmpl please check the Airfilter and TUNE the carburetor.Sometimes it is the people who no one imagines anything of who do the things that no one can imagine.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
That happens randomly! Happened a lot on the 130 km single trip I went on though. Someone in their posts above were saying something about mineral engine oil causing this when subjected to higher temperatures. Not sure if this is the oil or the spring that is causing the issue.Originally posted by truelypulsarian View PostNo as my bike is Just 150 kms at that time they didnt even charged a single penny.

My first service is due in a weeks time! Unsure if I should force them to change this clutch spring that you changed and see if that changes anything.Owns a baby Gixxer starting Jan '15

No engine oil is nothing related to this ask them to change the clutch spring and see the difference.Originally posted by raintree View PostThat happens randomly! Engine might feel harsh and stressed with the mineral oil at High temperatures but the gear not engaging to their respective slot is no way related to the engine oil.Last edited by truelypulsarian; 02-02-2015, 07:10 PM.PULSAR 180 DTSI- 2007

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hey guys, I was following your reviews and comments from 1 month.
I own a gixxer 155 blue color bought on November. I am gonna cross 2000 kms soon.
Like you guys, I too feel bike is sometimes very smooth and sometimes it is hard. Don't know what would be the reason behind it.
Anyways I have added one additional horn to my gixxer to give a great audible horn on traffic roads and now thinking to replace my headlight with HID white light.
Any of you guys have changed your stock horn or headlight or done something additional? Please share it

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I was having the same problem at 1000km odo reading; Mine went 108kmph only. The servicing was done at 1000kms and I changed the oil to Total Quartz9000 and Redlined in each gear(3rd,4th,5th) as suggested by some members. Voila and the top speeds are 118~119kmph and 124 down the slope.Originally posted by ravik View Posttop speed of my gixxer is 106 km only where as people are claiming 120. i have done some 1400 kms and first service is done. is there any problem with my bike?
This exact thing happens with mine occasionally. I turnoff and turnon the key and the self start works again. Reported this to service center but they couldn't identify the cause because it happens occasionally only.Originally posted by gslp456 View PostBut, since yesterday , I am facing issue with self starting the bike. I went to the service center regarding the emulsification effect in my Oil cap and they are clueless. So anyone have this problem?

I have changed my headlight to 55/60w. Currently I am not facing any battery draining issues. So you can use HID without any problem.Originally posted by nilzkul View PostAnyways I have added one additional horn to my gixxer to give a great audible horn on traffic roads and now thinking to replace my headlight with HID white light.

BUT HID is waste of money and effort especially when used with reflectors.
