As long as you have completed your 2nd oil change..~3k kms or so...go crazy and experiment.Originally posted by Habshan View PostIt's been 1400kms since last oil change. I'm thinking to get shell ax7 semi synthetic. What say?
#Gixxer
#MotoX on Cyanogenmod 12.1
#Note 8 on CM 12.1
5k kms on odo is a decent limit to start at.

You'll get mileage around 38-42 kmpl. Mileage depends upon how you ride. Should not accelerate hard.Originally posted by veerritesh23 View PostFriends need some more info on this.
I'm going get hand on my Gixxer in a week.
I wanted to know that If I ride Gixxer at around 50-70kmph on highway, what will be its mileage.?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I am thinking to replace them with KTM indicators as they are small. What say guys or any other suggestions like moving them closer to the mudgaurd which is under the rear pillion.Originally posted by vjay View Postya..the indicators are placed too wide in Gixxer.... it's an eyesore especially with the orange colored lens...

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
There is a TOTAL/ELF distributor in my place and I bought all ELF/TOTAL oils from him, he offers huge discounts. I don't know the availability in your place. As I've mentioned there is Mobil Delvac super 1300/1400 as an alternative. In shell there are Helix range of oils and the famous Rimula R4 which has been used by many senior members.Originally posted by radikel View PostIs the ELF Performance 3D 15w40 mineral oil easily available. Is there a similar grade in Motul/Shell which can be useable. Also, with a 15w40, do you feel added smoothness compared to the 10w40, and the engine running cooler?
Because I used a 10w40 on this trip,.~1800Kms in scorching heat
Engine was blazing hot, and I didn't drop below 90...
Although the oil was new for this trip, I think I really pushed the engine hard..rode at 110-125 in between for 2 hrs. Hence I feel 10w40 was insufficient.
Looking for a slightly better grade, which I hope a 15w40 will be as you say
I can't describe the difference between 10w40 and 15w40 in terms of smoothness but with 15w40 the engine feels tight as if there are no leaks(couldn't get other words because of my weak vocabulary).
I've seen that you posted the same query in Engine Oil section.
Since you are currently running 20w40 and loving it, for the next oil change try 15w40. Don't go for 20w50. Also is there any change in mileage with 20w40?
And you deserve a pat on the back for your 1800km trip in this searing heat. Is there a T-log? please share the link.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Just installed ladies footrest (side one) Rs80 and plain number plate Rs100 on my Gixxer. Will get HSRP above plain number plate. Hope it will give some stability.
I don't know why Suzuki dealers are asking Rs250-300 for ladies footrest. It is available in spare part shops in market.
I have driven my bike 500kms and just noticed some oil in cooling fins area which is near to spark plug. Shown same in service center. They told me that its normal and will be rectified in 1st service. Is it ok? Kindly suggest.

Get HSRP from RTO offices, everywhere else prices may be bloated and even plates may be fraudulent.Originally posted by probike View PostWill get HSRP above plain number plate. Hope it will give some stability.
RTO were supposed to provide these plates at cheaper and affordable prices.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I can't comment on the mileage now, as the SVC took place when tank was a bit more than half empty...only 2 bars left now. Any mileage figure I quote now will seriously be zonked. So will check once I refill. I think iam adjusting to the 20w40, just to work the throttle a bit more in cities, but will be seriously good in highways. Will then try a 15w40 next interval. Also thinking of MOTUL 7100 FS 10W40...Want to try only JASO MA2 oils.
This trip really got me thinking on how important a good proper engine oil is. Really felt, the default 10w40 mineral, started thinning out too soon. Will heed your advice on oil change at intervals[emoji2] [emoji2] [emoji2]
Thanks for the compliment. Only the first day the heat really killed me. Kind of adjusted after that. Reached home on 4th. I have been thinking of putting up the travelogue, but honestly, the ride was poorly planned, and my friend and i didn't take good pics..and the places we went to, save a few stretches, was mostly dry and barren. I dont think it will be a good travelogue...so I just let it be[emoji20]
Please do share your feedback on how the oil performs.Originally posted by truelypulsarian View PostJust now bought SHELL ADVANCE ULTRA for 800 rs.
Detailed review about this oil will be out soon after i test this one under variety of riding conditions.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Just now came from a short 50kms to and fro ride on the highway with constant ripping around the speeds 100-110 touched 115 multiple times & 119 once.
This short highway trip was done with out any single break.
Some good things about this oil are :-
1) Some minor vibrations which i used to get earlier were diminished
2) Engine is silent and smooth when compared to the stock motul oil.
3) Smooth & relax crusing ability at around 90-95 kmph has been improved by a good margin.
Its too early to have a proper conclusion about this oil will post a brief review after i clock some good amount of kms with this oil.PULSAR 180 DTSI- 2007
PULSAR 220 DTS-FI - 2008

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
This time I myself going to change my gixxer's engine oil. My SVC is not taking care in draining the oil. Color of the oil goes black too quickly in just 100 kms. Also I tried many brand 20W-40 engine oils for my old bike. But I'm satisfied with valvoline engine oil. Can anyone tried valvoline 10W-40 semi-synthetic engine oil gixxer.?Just follow my shadow.
