Thanks.Originally posted by anilkumar9 View Post20W40 Mineral is best oil because India is a hot country. This grade of oil is suitable for Indian bikes and Japanese bikes. Change oil after 2000 km or six months, whichever is earlier.

But I gave done 6400kms, and to change the oil all of a sudden, wasn't sure. Also, iam not sure whether its mineral/semi synthetic motul.
10w40 makes it easier to start as the oil circulates well under cold, unlike a 20w40. So I need you guys' opinion. Sandeepcf had actually trued quite a few oils and arrived at a useable grade. Would love to hear what he has to say.
Also, by that logic, if you are going for long rides and ride in hot weather, isn't it better to use an xW50 grade oil?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Any one using shell ultra FS oil in their bikes?
The stock motul oil doesnt do better job in hot conditions & on highways with constant higher rpm riding conditions.
Bike is at 7.4k on the odo ( exact 4 months old) planning to use FS oil which provides better lubricating properties especially when the engine is ridden at higher rpms on highways.PULSAR 180 DTSI- 2007

removed the small tail section (got it cut by my local mechanic) below the number plate...for a cleaner rear look...[emoji6]
and attached that tail piece section to the rear mudguard extension...[emoji106]

You have no concern for fellow riders ,do you know that can cause problem for other riders .Suzuki intentionally kept the small tail flap to stop direct splashing of water/mud to the back of bike ,being bigger tyres it will cause havoc for the rider behind you .I know you can put the mudguard extension back in rainy season but it not always possible to keep it ready.Originally posted by vjay View Postremoved the small tail section (got it cut by my local mechanic) below the number plate...for a cleaner rear look...[emoji6]

Dynamo i'm 6'3" (190cm) and 70kgs. children are terrified of me
.
the leg-over-the-rear habit comes from 1.5 lac kms on a commuter bike (my prev bike;super splendor 125QC).hopefully ill get over it in due time.
also does anyone have a solution for the case of the missing gear ;ie gears getting stuck between 5&4 when coming to a full stop from 60?

chill dude... i don't think we should start a conversation on that small tail piece part...!!!Originally posted by Hitesh100 View PostYou have no concern for fellow riders ,do you know that can cause problem for other riders .Suzuki intentionally kept the small tail flap to stop direct splashing of water/mud to the back of bike ,being bigger tyres it will cause havoc for the rider behind you .I know you can put the mudguard extension back in rainy season but it not always possible to keep it ready.
and splashing of mud will be the same with or without this tail piece if u remove the mudguard extension...
so...just be cool about it... [emoji6]

I've never tried 20w40, but with 15w40 I observed slight loss of acceleration.Originally posted by radikel View PostI can feel a better degree of smoothness now, especially in the powerband of 50-65. I am done with the experiments. The usable grade then(in winters) was definitely the company recommended 10w40 and now I am happy with 15w40.
I wanted to try Shell Ultra, but in my place the new shell ultra with Pureplus technology is still not available.Originally posted by truelypulsarian View PostAny one using shell ultra FS oil in their bikes? The stock motul oil doesnt do better job in hot conditions & on highways with constant higher rpm riding conditions.Bike is at 7.4k on the odo ( exact 4 months old) planning to use FS oil which provides better lubricating properties especially when the engine is ridden at higher rpms on highways.
My current Oil is ELF Performance 3D 15w40(recommended by muztariq in engine oil thread) and I am absolutely happy with it. Yesterday I have done a 80km ride in temperatures above 42C and I didn't observe any overheating effects of the engine(but definitely in my body) like loss of acceleration.
After using synthetics like Total Quartz , ELF Moto , Honda I settled for ELF Performance 3D or Mobile Delvac 1300/1400 @rs.280 depending on availability.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hi guys, I had taken really good care not to get my bike's indicators knocked off since I bought this beauty. But alas, I realised how easy was it to break, my rear left indicator snapped as it was a kitkat snack. I got down from the bike and parked on center stand. As I was in formals, I turned around and unfortunately the indicator got stuck in my trousers pocket.Thats it,it went snap and my heart gone boom
. The plastics are so delicate. Now I have tapered it with transperent celotape. It looks bad but have no option but to change it otherwise. Wish the indicators were placed somewhere better. Currently they are placed very oddly and are susceptable to breakage

ya..the indicators are placed too wide in Gixxer.... it's an eyesore especially with the orange colored lens...Originally posted by kypa View PostHi guys, I had taken really good care not to get my bike's indicators knocked off since I bought this beauty. Thanks for the detailed post.
So, according to what you said, the ELF you are using now(15w40) has no performance negatives at all? ..like loss of acceleration... Etc? Also, is it Fully Synthetic oil?
As for me, the MOTUL 3000 20W40 iam using now, really can't feel any difference in engine performance at all!..It has also helped smooth those small vibes in the powerband and bike is running a bit smoother and COOLER.
Iam now thinking of trying a MOTUL 7100 FS 20w50. Any insight you can offer on this? Reason iam asking is, I recently completed a very long journey in extreme heat...and a FS at grade 50 I feel offers the best solution under such conditions!
Any thoughts on this?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hi.. What's the total KM clocked by your bike? Many say to use FS oil after 10K KM.. I have completed 4500KM and want to try Shell Ultra FS as I drive a lot in Highways and engine looses steam after 50 KM in a stretch. Can I change to FS right away or should wait for 10K KM on ODO? Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
ELF Performance 3D is a diesel engine oil and it is mineral and costs Rs.300(MRP is 330). I didn't feel any performance negatives at all. With this Oil I was able to go 128kmph down the slope of a bridge in highway AH45.Originally posted by radikel View PostSo, according to what you said, the ELF you are using now(15w40) has no performance negatives at all? ..like loss of acceleration... I strongly believe 20w50 is overkill. you can try 10w50 oils like castrol racing 4t or Elf moto tech. But I didn't find ELF to be satisfying. I think 10w40 fully synthetics would suffice. Also contrary to the popularity of Motul Synthetics I didn't like them. My personal advice would be NO for Motul synthetics.
My ODO is 6k+. I tried synthetics from 1000kms itself. Also I breaked-in my bike the hard way. I don't believe in 10k km mark because many modern cars and bikes are factory filled with synthetics only. Even maruthi fills synthetics during free services it self and robs customers(in my place).Originally posted by Shamanth Gowda View PostHi.. What's the total KM clocked by your bike? Just got back from office....and now, I do feel a very very slight drop in pull of the bike. Although I do feel this should be the oil of choice, as the engine is running smooth and quite cool.
I have read, that oils with a wide range of viscosity tend to shear, and leave deposits on the engine walls, so I was kind of sceptical.
Is the ELF Performance 3D 15w40 mineral oil easily available. Is there a similar grade in Motul/Shell which can be useable. Also, with a 15w40, do you feel added smoothness compared to the 10w40, and the engine running cooler?
Because I used a 10w40 on this trip,.~1800Kms in scorching heat
Engine was blazing hot, and I didn't drop below 90...
Although the oil was new for this trip, I think I really pushed the engine hard..rode at 110-125 in between for 2 hrs. Hence I feel 10w40 was insufficient.
Looking for a slightly better grade, which I hope a 15w40 will be as you say.[emoji41]
