Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Not always better but they have there draw backs too ,I am telling you from real life experience yesterday I rolled over the shattered glasses of a car a big chunk of glass pierced through the rear Tyre making a big hole into it. No doubt Soft compound tyres provide excellent grip even on wet roads but they are puncture magnets.Originally posted by Avenger88 View Post

Okay, yea... We have seen how small stones stick to the surface of the soft rubber, so yes rolling over a piece of glass will puncture it.Originally posted by Hitesh100 View PostNot always better but they have there draw backs too ,I am telling you from real life experience yesterday I rolled over the shattered glasses of a car a big chunk of glass pierced through the rear Tyre making a big hole into it. When there was a probable cause for puncture you should have avoided it instead of taking it head on.sigpic

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I bought gixxer 2 weeks before and i use it to commute between my college and hostel , hardly driven 100km. Havent owned a bike before.. Few questions
1.) Is headlight really dim ? also the high beam seems to be way up and hardly puts any brightness , is it normal that the factory headlights are dim , if so , can anyone suggest a good one to replace it ?
2.) Second gear is little hard to change , is it just me , that i will get used to it or do i need to take it to service ?
3.)When i change the gear to say 3 and ride slowly or ride over a speed breaker and drive past it , i should change the gear to 2 or 1 , but when i change and move forward , there is little hesitation and a sound from my right side of the bike , like it is pushing something, like a fast push of fluid (SEP may be ?) , is it fine ?
4.) Some decent but good modification i can do to my bike. i recently saw a photo here were the owner put a black matte sticker in the middle of the tank ,which really looked cool. can someone point me to mods like those ? and i heard modifying will result in warranty / insurance problem , is it true again ?
5.) Seats are little hard to my liking , can anyone point to some seat cover or anything to add cushion to it .
6.) Some say not to give bike to anyone for the first 1000km to tune the engine to my liking , is it again true ?
Sorry for noob questions , just in learning stage. Thanks a lot for this forum , i came here , read raves about gixxer and bought it.. Once again i thank this community for my first bike.

NRX,
1.Check post 3873.
2. Gears will smoothen out after 1k kms.
3. Try and keep the rpm between 3k and 4.5k till 800 kms. And try not to ride at constant rpm for long.
6. Yes !

You and I know it's meant to be ridden on good roads. But, what can we say? The road works department doesn't care and we don't always choose well laid roads as its impossible to find one? :P It was designed for overall international markets which include some countries which have well laid roads most of the times. So, its good to stick with it as it was specifically made for the bikes. If you want to use it to it's full potential, find a race track or some similar roads :P :POriginally posted by Avenger88 View PostOkay, yea... Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
No, The electrical components are not covered under warranty as it could have happened due to a number of environmental factors.
The low beam and high beam bulbs are integrated into one. Hence you have to replace which might set you back by Rs.700 .
However if it was a problem with the harness you could get a free replacement.

Thanks for the prompt response Mate. Kindly let me know what did you meant by "harness", do you mean battery or the electrical. Would appreciate if you could let me know the best way to be in touch with Susuki Customer care.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
4) applying stickers wont void warranty in anyway. Only performance mods or electrical mods will do that.Originally posted by NRX View Post

5) those mesh type seat covers appear to be the rage in Kerala right now and i have seen them on everything from scooty pep to RE. They are quite comfortable to sit on and also prevent the seat from heating when parked under the sun. They cost around 350 here.Last edited by windrider007; 07-10-2015, 10:14 AM.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Harness refers to the whole wiring kit of the bike from head to tail. It interconnects all the components and electricals of the bike. The problem you face could also be some loose contact or faulty switch gear. Both are generally covered under warranty. If the low beam filament is blown, then the bulb has to be replaced, which is not under warranty, and it should cost around 300 for stock bulb.Originally posted by elixir9th View PostThanks for the prompt response Mate. Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hi all
My gixxer's first service was done few days back. Currently 800km+ on the ODO.. Post first service I am increasing the RPM limits in small steps .. As of now didnt cross 5K RPM..
My concern is I hear a sound from engine of increasing and decreasing intensity (high and low is heard at a low frequency of about a second) in 4.5-5K RPM interval.. I shall try to record the sound and share it.. But if any of you can guess/experienced such a sound at certain RPMs, what might it be due to?
Thanks

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
First of all after first service you should increase your riding rpm limit to 7K. You should train the engine to cruise in that rpm. After 1600km you can go beyond that limit too. Else engine will fall in to kind of sleeping and get used to your regular low rpm routine. It might behave uncomfortable on highways. So rev it up to 7k some times. Take it on a weekend trip or somethingOriginally posted by blitzz577 View PostHi all

. Regarding the engine noise, I don't know what it is. Better to show it to SVC.

Harness is the bundle of cable from your fuse box to all the electricals in the front and another bundle of cable to the rear section and one more to the engine.
Normally there wouldn't be any problem with this. However, if the sheath of insulation is degraded after a couple of years you cannot replace it under warranty. If its just one to six months you should g ahead with warranty.

1> you need to get the headlight beam angle corrected. A friend of mine had the same problem.
2> Gears are a bit stiff on the Gixxer 155. You have to get used to it.
3> Please get it checked. This is SEP..

4> Modifying with stickers or paint will not void the warranty. Knock yourself out be an artist.
5> YOu should ask a local mechanic about this. They are very resourceful.
6> TRUE. Avoid giving your bike to anyone at any point of time. The first 1000kms or 4000kms is just the initial phase. I personally think its about 9000kms to
12000kms due to many reasons all which cannot be mentioned here.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hi, My Gixxer has just been through third servicing (two weeks ago). The engine oil wasn't replaced as the bike had completed only about 4200kms though (about 200days).
The bike was smoother and enjoyable to ride before the servicing. It now feels a bit sluggish and vibrates a bit more. Also last time after servicing when I pushed it to 90+kmph, the engine really heated up. I could feel the heat air blows on my right leg - wasn't the case before as I used to take it up to 90+kmph often during weekends, the heat wasn't this pronouncing before.
The mileage has dropped from 53-54kmpl to just 35-37kmpl after the servicing no matter how well I ride it. I've now tested it for the fifth time.
Also, the front wheel has a small air leak where the tyre touches the rim (not a puncture). I always had used 29/33psi. Now, the front wheel leakage drops the psi down to 5unit in a day. So I've begun to use 31/33psi and refill everyday.
It has been starting to worry me. What could be the probable cause for all these issues?
I'm set to visit the service center this weekend. Please let me know what things I need to bring to the SVC guys to help them better solve the bike's issues. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
" Hi bro this is my 1st comment in forum, I was just reading this till date. I have experienced the same issue it happens due to rusting with components in the engine kill switch. Head to the SVC as soon and sort it out. I was stalled in mid of road for the SVC assistance, bcs it wont get started sometimes since electrical wont work and engine wont even start by kick. Even headlight wont b switched on only park light can be kept on. So make it repaired soon "Originally posted by vjay View Postguys... the engine kill switch is acting funny nowadays... at times the bike doesn't start at all(both self start & kick) in the "ON" position. When i toggle it or press it further the engine starts...
Anyone else facing this issue with the engine kill switch..??
