Looks like the AFR isn't properly set. The svc mech must have changed it and hence the issues. Get it checked and see if the problems remain.Originally posted by arunlakra15 View Post

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I am facing the same problem. My parking light seems to light up the road nearer to tyre more than my headlight in low beam :P The highbeam falls at the bottom of the rear windows of cars or other vehicles. Low beam seems to be totally not adequate unless a vehicle comes in close proximity and even then the low beam falls on it and not on the road :P I happened to enter some potholes at high speeds due to this during a couple of night rides thinking that the road was smooth. But later when I checked my headlight, I found that the beam was not falling on the road properly.Originally posted by NRX View Post1.) Is headlight really dim ? also the high beam seems to be way up and hardly puts any brightness , is it normal that the factory headlights are dim , if so , can anyone suggest a good one to replace it ?
Sorry for noob questions , just in learning stage. Thanks a lot for this forum , i came here , read raves about gixxer and bought it.. Once again i thank this community for my first bike.
I think I will look into tweaking and focusing the headlight myself this weekend or take it to SVC after collecting some ideas from others. Anyway nearly a month and my bike is due for its first service in a few days. So I will try to get it done at that time and try to avoid as much night rides as possible till then
Be careful while taking the bike onto the streets and don't accelerate fast when the vision is limited.Last edited by srinath2494; 07-08-2015, 08:46 PM.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Who ever did the service must have played around with the Carb setting. Get the Air-Fuel mixture ratio checked. Looks like your engine is running very lean and hence causing the heat to generate which wasnt the case earlier.Originally posted by arunlakra15 View PostThe mileage has dropped from 53-54kmpl to just 35-37kmpl after the servicing no matter how well I ride it. I've now tested it for the fifth time.
Also, the front wheel has a small air leak where the tyre touches the rim (not a puncture). I always had used 29/33psi. Now, the front wheel leakage drops the psi down to 5unit in a day. So I've begun to use 31/33psi and refill everyday.
As for the tyre pressure, the sealant or the tyre itself hasnt sat properly on the alloy. Hence everytime it touches the tarmac while you run, it looses fraction of air , over a period of distance it is more. Get it checked. If you know the spot where it leaks (try to pour water when the tyre touches the ground, so the tyre is pushed against the alloy, you will get to kno where), and show it to the SVC guys.R15S - Current

Just as a free tip, I was also irritated due to the insufficient low beam. So replaced the stock bulb with a Philips 55/60w bulb and tilted the headlight downwards by a degree or two. Now it works wonders!Originally posted by srinath2494 View PostI am facing the same problem. As for the air loss from the front tyre, get it checked asap. The tyre isn't properly set on the alloy. Thanks for the replies. I've tried pouring water and discovered the exact area near alloy where it leaks. Repositioning of tyre on the alloy should be a simple thing, right? (If somehow it's found faulty, the tyre warranted by the respective manufacturer would have to claimed by me with nothing but assistance by dealers).Originally posted by TheArcher84 View PostWho ever did the service must have played around with the Carb setting. I'm heading to a SVC tomorrow. I'll get the AFR and tyre checked. I suppose, the AFR is only a screw. How do I ensure that it's positioned back to factory settings? Are there similar things that can be checked? I'm a novice user. Thanks for the help.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Mileage is one factor, Heat produced from engine, stress on the engine when driving under load (may be an overbridge). Also, see if you can differntiate the exhaust smell (now and after the change).Originally posted by arunlakra15 View PostThanks for the replies. Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
undercharging? what does it mean in terms of battery? you mean to say that to compensate for the higher power headlight you changed the rest to LEDs? o.O anyway I don't want any mods with headlight, I just want it to focus properly. Can you share how did you tilt the headlight? can we do it by ourselves? did you do it with the help of mechanic?Originally posted by Avinash666 View PostJust as a free tip, I was also irritated due to the insufficient low beam. I'll scour through the manual meanwhile to find if this procedure is given or not.
I found that in some gixxers where the headlight is focused properly, the headlamp looked more acceptable from sides and not like something that is lifting its neck up as in other gixxers :P Also from the front, the clear design of the headlamp is more visible and it does not resemble any other bike.

There should be a screw just below the headlight, use that to position the focus.Originally posted by srinath2494 View PostI just want it to focus properly. Can you share how did you tilt the headlight? can we do it by ourselves?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Yes, sort of compensation in other words. See when the bike is started, the alternator charges the battery continuously. Considering the small 3Ah battery provided in Gixxer, the alternator must be of smaller capacity. So, if large amount of load it applied on the battery (or the alternator, when the bike is running) the may not be enough current flow to charge the battery. This condition is called undercharging. To avoid this replace the blubs with LEDs. Thats not exactly modding. So I guess its safe.Originally posted by srinath2494 View Postundercharging? what does it mean in terms of battery? you mean to say that to compensate for the higher power headlight you changed the rest to LEDs? o.O anyway I don't want any mods with headlight, I just want it to focus properly. Yes, it can be done easily. Locate a small star type nut-bolt exactly under the headlight. Loosen it. Adjust the headlight, then tighten the bolt back. The sense of freedom these two wheels give can never be matched by anything else...

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
A couple of days back, I completed a Bangalore - Chennai - Bangalore round trip over a week. Not worth writing a travelogue about this as the distance is relatively small and the roads are 6 lane with good scenic views between Krishnagiri and Vellore.
Bangalore - Chennai:
Filled a tankful of Shell petrol the night before the journey and left early in the morning. On State Highways, cruised at around 70 to 80 kmph and on National Highways cruised at around 80 to 90 kmph. Finished the 365 km journey and the bike was still running on mains. Over the next few days rode another 83 kms in city riding conditions and the bike still didn't hit reserve.
It was time to return to Bangalore again, so reached a Shell petrol pump in Chennai and asked them to fuel the bike to a tank full again. He filled up 8.99 litres before petrol reached the fuel nozzle at the top indicating a tankful. So 365+83 = 448 kms done using 9 litres of petrol. This equates to a mileage of 50 kmpl on highways when cruising at 70 to 90 kmph speeds. I am a happy man and I checked air levels on both wheels again before heading home. @srinath2494 sorry I couldn't meetup due to prior commitments during this trip. There is always a next time.
Now the sad part.
Chennai - Bangalore:
As usual, left Chennai early in the morning. Having just discovered the previous night that the Gixxer gave me 50 kmpl on highways, I wanted to test if I can further enhance the mileage on this bike. So kept the bike between 70 and 80 kmph on the speedometer strictly. It was windy for about 80% of this journey (which wasn't the case during my onward trip). The fuel meter start dipping too quickly. I was telling myself maybe the digital fuel meter is showing wrong readings or has become faulty. But 325 kms after I started riding this bike on a tankful(12 ltrs) I hit reserve. That's a mileage of 33.8 kmpl for this trip which is quite shocking. I can't think of any reasons why there is such a drastic drop in mileage level as only the previous night I got a 50 kmpl mileage on the same highway.
Would appreciate it if mods/experienced tourers could give me some insights on why this happened and if I have to get anything checked.Owns a baby Gixxer starting Jan '15

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Help me please[emoji120]
Millage issues..
I did the break-in procedure as mentioned in the manual.... 4500rpm for 700km
7000rpm up to 1400km.....
I always have issues with millage...
I usually Rev between 4-6000 rpm...
I always have 29 front and back 33 wheel pressure...
Covered almost 3700+kms
Never got more then 35+ millage
Yesterday gave to second service...
Filled 650rs(7.8litres) shell power petrol..I rode some 45km in city and then NH4 towards Chitradurga..
I cover some 45+140(=185km)
Bike came to reserve...
So again I filled petrol of 250rs(3.5litres)....
Then before I reach home...again reserve...
So 240km 10litres...and 24 millage[emoji22] [emoji24] [emoji24]
From the day one I never got millage... Went to service centre twice regarding millage...
So now going to another ShowRoom...
Please help me what all should do get millage[emoji120] [emoji120] [emoji120] [emoji120]
Thanks in advance

It's highly likely that you had tail winds on your journey to chennai because 50kpl at 80-90 kph is just astounding.Originally posted by raintree View PostA couple of days back, I completed a Bangalore - Chennai - Bangalore round trip over a week. And as you said you had head winds on the way back, the throtte opening must have been higher as you maintained 80kph. Fuel consumption depends on throttle opening rather than speed.
Someone mentioned their fuel consumption was around 30kpl when they maintained speeds of 100kph. So at 80 kph with head winds, your throttle opening must have been just as much.
Anyhow I'm glad you made the trip.
Cheers !Last edited by Habshan; 07-09-2015, 12:21 PM.#Gixxer
