Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I was reading some article about throttle blipping while downshifting. I also went through some videos after getting introduced to blipping from one thread here (Forgot which one). The thing is all the videos I see for throttle blipping is for superbikes. Do we have to do throttle blipping for our bikes? Does it damage the engine?
My second doubt is when changing gears(up or down) should the clutch be released slowly or suddenly assuming that the motion of the bikes is smooth?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I am about to buy the Gixxer, but came across the following Cons/Questions posted in this thread:
1)Stiffer suspensions , but can be adjusted according to need. set the suspension to 2 - to avoid wearing out
2)Rusting at some places.
3)Horn sound is very low.
4) Engene heating problem - not sure
5) U-Turn Radius -not sure
6) Pillion rider problem
7) bad quality of the mirrors
8) Self-starter problem during rain
9) key problem - one Gixxer key fits into others - huge security issue- it was there for the first batch of bikes
10)vibrations at 3.5 to 4.5k - but smooth beyond and below that rpm
11) After 2nd service - no longer hear that awesome bassy sound when riding
12)prominent false neutral between the 3rd and 4th gears - facing hard gear shifts
13)after August price revision - 92K for gixxer monotone, 95K for fz, 97K fz-s are the prices in Kolakta.
14)Spilt seats are big miss. One will tend to slip towards tank after a sudden pothole or bump. Re-adjusting frequently is irritating.
Can any 1 year-owner please let me know which issues truly stand out and which are false?
I know that is a list of so many problems - perhaps one or two of which will persist. Dear fellow owners, please don't get mad at me. I just want to make sure before buying - that's all.
Thanks

its been more than a year since I have bought my bike, hence I think I can help you out with these queries
1) the stock setting of suspension is fine but the lower part touches only on a few big speed breakers.. The riding quality is good while on stock,so personally hasn't been much of a problem
2)haven't faced any rusting issues so far, eventually comes to how one maintains the bike
3) yes, horn sound is very low.. Especially on highways, its hardly audible..
4) haven't faced any engine heating issues till now.. And yes, have gone on many long rides and also a few hills,so that isn't a problem
5)u turn radius is good.. Not sure if others find it a problem lol
6)pillion seat is elevated and little stiff.. So yes, that's a little problem
7)yes,even I don't like the mirrors on my gixxer lol 🙈
8)self starter hasn't caused problem till now, even in the rains... Haven't used the choke to start the bike also till date 😁
9)wasn't aware of that issue till now.. I think I ll try that 🙈😂 but yeah,if that's true.. Then it is a problem 😕
10)nope,no vibrations at the mentioned rpms.. Only the mirror vibrates,as on the vision becomes blurred around 8rpm and more
11)the sound remains the same after service.. The bike becomes much smoother after service but the sound doesn't change much
12) that problem is present initially before the first service.. After that, the gear shift becomes really smooth
14)I wouldn't say spilt seats is a very big miss but yes, frequent readjusting is required.. Especially on rough terrain and potholes...
There you go... Hope I have answered most of your questions... Im not saying I'm right, but from my experience.. This had been my experience... So make the right decision😁😜

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hello Bikers,
I have just clocked 2000 kms on my gixxer. The engine oil was changed in the first service at 900 kms. The next service is due at 3500 kms.
My concern is- does the engine oil which was poured in during the first service will hold good for 2500 kms gap/stretch? (Considering that they poured Motul mineral oil).
I am planning to stick to Motul 5100 15w50 or Motul 7100 10w40. (What is the best reading on odo to swtich to SS or FS ?)
Can anyone suggest which one to choose from above by the following parameters :
a) Weather conditions in Kokata are (10-15 degrees Winter ~ 35-42 degrees Summer) Note: Bad-ass humidity always remains above 90%
b) Daily commute of 22-24 kms one-way (Total 45 kms) through mixed traffic. Occasionally get chance to clock 90-100 kpmh signal to signal.
c) Need smooth engine, gear shifts and tolerance to heat.
d) Prefer engine life more than racing against each other when signals go green. (no offense to those who love to race on signals....even i do it occasionally
)
e) No pillion most of the times.
f) Do trips of 520 kms (up-down) once in a month or two. (Ride 120 kms at a stretch without break)
g) Cost for engine oil not a deciding factor.

You can replace the oil & oil filter half way between 1st & 2nd service i.e. if you are going for 2nd service @ 3500 km then you can replace oil & oil filter @ 2200 km (3500-900)/2. I did my 1st service at 590 km & 2nd one at 3500 km & had oil & oil filter replacement @ 2300 km.
For the riding conditions stated by you, Motul 7100 10W40 is the best oil you can get. I am using it post 2nd service & it easily lasts for 4000 km which is the service interval for gixxer. This oil is recommended for Inazuma 250 & is available at the SVC where I get my bike serviced. For best performance, always replace oil & oil filter together.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Thank you for your suggestion. Does the svc guys allow if i buy the engine oil from outside and ask them to pour it while servicing? Is it against warranty anyway?Originally posted by on_the_saddle View PostYou can replace the oil & oil filter half way between 1st & 2nd service i.e. if you are going for 2nd service @ 3500 km then you can replace oil & oil filter @ 2200 km (3500-900)/2. Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
As far as I noticed today,Originally posted by abhilashabhi12 View PostGuys I need an info please
What is the rpm for reaching 80;85 & 90kmph in top gear. Also what is the best cruising speed for the bike.
I am mostly be booking one as soon as the rear disc.option is available
80: 5.75k rpm
85: 6k rpm
90: 6.25k rpm
I think the bike is comfortable to cruise at around 100 or a little more... It attains that speed pretty quickly, so its peaceful on highways 😁

Thanks dude.
Cruising speed of 100 is like Icing on the cake..
Btw when is the Rev Limited Kicking in Gixxer ?
Also what is the Sprocket combination of Gixxer ? I have heard it has lot of Torque Lower down the revvs, In that case I will try and Put Bigger GB Sprocket for more Relaxed cruising.
Thanks

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
The sprocket size is 45/15... I.e., 3.0... So yes,if you put a bigger sprocket, you ll be able to cruise at higher speeds with ease... But personally,I love the way it just pulls at lower speeds😍 lol 😁Originally posted by abhilashabhi12 View PostThanks dude.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
So Sprocketing ratio is same as fiero which is 13/39.Originally posted by mlayzee View PostThe sprocket size is 45/15... I.e., 3.0... So yes,if you put a bigger sprocket, you ll be able to cruise at higher speeds with ease... But personally,I love the way it just pulls at lower speeds😍 lol 😁
I will go in for 16teeth sprocket after a while..
Btw can you also tell when is the Rev limiter kicking in, is it 10k or 11K Rpm ?sigpicAll India Permit 1+1

The rev limiter kicks in at 10k rpm.. And yes, tell how the change in sprocket goes 😁Originally posted by abhilashabhi12 View PostSo Sprocketing ratio is same as fiero which is 13/39.
