Hello every one this is jacob robinson, i own a gixxer black colour.
I wanted to tune my bike so got the carburettor cleaned and the fuel screw was jammed, while i applied pressure it broke.
Now i have no clue what to be done.
Mechanic said i will have to put a new carb and that is for 5500 rupees

    Hi Jacob Robinson

The same was happened to me last week. Due to drop in mileage, i decided to clean the carb. The AFR screw is in full lean i tried to unscrew it but the screw was stripped fully. I google'd & searching in youtube for solution but nothing works. Finally i decided to go to a lathe shop, he drilled on the stripped AFR screw to some extent & by using nose-pliers he then removed the screw successfully. Immediately i went to automobile shop & bought a AFR screw which is for pulsar 150 ( temporarily ) My problem solved.
    Just follow my shadow.

      Folks,

I saw a couple of youtube videos, is it recommended to lube your chains with engine oil? How do you lube your chains?

You can use engine oil but I think gearbox oil sticks better than engine oil. The purpose of oiling the o-ring chain is just to keep the o-rings wet and supple. Stay away from used engine oil - its carcinogenic.

Gear-oil is good for non-o-ring chains particularly inside a full chain-cover . But is too sticky and encourages dust and sand to stick on to the open o-ring chain . Nothing wears out rubber o-rings better than constant abrasion with dust & sand particles . Fresh engine oil or other light oil is sufficient to keep o-rings lubed and supple as well as prevent rust . It has to be wiped almost dry soon after applying to remove all excess , same reason - excess oil encourages road dirt to stick on .

I found people using gear oil on zx14r and other super bikes etc on some foreign forums..

The 90 grade gear box oil is perfect for o-ring chain.

            Cheers.

Yes I know many are using gear oil for chain lube . I think it is because gear oil is indeed recommended in older motorcycle user manuals ( like mine ) which uses a fully covered chain . With covered chains, you can get away with using grease even . But if you check the user manuals for bikes with open chain with o-rings , they recommend aerosol chain lubes which are all relatively non-sticky ( like the new yahamalube ). I have looked at bikes that use gear oil around here too and found that their chains tend to collect a thick coat of dust & dirt very soon . Dirty chain is as bad for o-rings , I feel . Moreover the heavy lubrication provided by gear oil is really not necessary for o-ringed chains . Covered non-o-ringed chains and open o-ringed chains have totally different cleaning & lubrication process & needs .

Any good (original) oil bought from petrol pump will do. Get the smallest pack/pouch/bottle so that you can revert back to a spray if you don't like it. Like Pinaki said, wiping away the excess is important after lubing. So, did you discover a good local mechanic for you Gixxer in Chennai ?

After 25K kms my front sprocket has given up where as my rear sprocket is in good condition. So I decided to change the front sprocket. I remember some one posted the price of the sprocket as Rs.311. And Found a cheaper alternative for the front sprocket. its from bajaj pulsar.
