That is the whole problem here... No one is sure why it happens. The techs at KTM think we are making up stories but it is an extremely scary feeling when you have both your brakes engaged and can't slow down even a little bit.

This has happened to me 3-4 times and it isn't something related to speed because the last time it happened I was well under 60kmph. Usually happens under emergency or hard braking when the lever is engaged- pulled in to the maximum extent. The braking returns or releasing the lever and reengaging it. This I feel is some setting on the ABS that makes it extremely intrusive under hard braking.

This has been ruled out as an air bubble as both brakes were bled multiple times over the course of ownership to try and solve the issue. The issue doesn't come up when the ABS is turned off so we are pretty sure the issue is with the ABS. I have forced them to change the entire ABS system under warranty but I still do not feel confident. The reason why I decided to check with other owners if they faced similar issues.

Or perhaps you've got the special EBC sintered brake pads for the rear from KTM, or is it.
None if I reckon from my experience. You've clearly mentioned you've "replaced" the entire ABS unit, see how it fares, back to back ABS unit failures are very highly unlikely. As I reiterated, faulty ABS would automatically disengage the ABS, promptly warning you on the dash. New brake pads too can cause sensitive braking feedback, i.e. frequent locks unless they wear/bed in to some extent to give you that proper feedback.

        Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

        THE END

It feels wooden for lack of a better word... Checked the wear of the brake pads as well, the rear was almost new, the front had even wear and still had a good 2mm of pad left.

The bike hasn't been returned to me as yet. Will update once I get it back... Got another track day on the 19th

Since it is used mostly on the track I have the ABS turned off most of the time so I have no issues on the track however while riding to and from the track the issue crops up randomly. All checks have come up with nothing, I kept thinking this was an issue with my bike till I recently rode a friend's brand new Duke 390 and it had the same issue. This led me to wonder if this is an issue with the 2015 bikes or has it always been there and there is a way to fix it.
Hi I have not faced this issue in Rc390 but I had this issue in duke 390 it happens only during emergency braking their is lack of feel wooden kind of feel this was a repeated issue in my duke they used to bleed the line . finally after sending a mail to Ktm they fixed it by changing the major kit at the lever side . after that the issue is fixed.

When I asked them they changed major kit that is below the brake fluid storage and the portion that connects the lever. This fixed my issue after that the issue has not happened.

Now my RC 390 is in service centre due to white smoke during cold start the smoke is too high here's the link . they Replaced the valve seal still issue is their it became worse after that.
