Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
I'll post the pic tomorrow. It was oil red and looked brand new. The svc guys confirmed it but asked me to bring the bike next morning.. I don't know what is causing it but I think this shouldn't happen right after I have serviced the bike, if it does what was the service worth?Originally posted by s1d View Post

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
well you can't blame the service without first getting to the bottom of the reason as to why it happened.Originally posted by Amodraut View PostI'll post the pic tomorrow. there is not much a mechanic can do if a regular oil change has been performed correctly and then later a leak crops up due to gasket failure.
but if it was caused due to reasons such as over filling oil, bolts not tightened etc.. (i.e. negligence) then make sure to give them a polite earful. Sometimes these guys skip replacing the oil filter housing 'o' ring (even though its billed).
If the leak is from the crank case covers, then let them replace the gasket and if possible use very little gasket sealant to create a better seal.

Even using petrol from different providers giving different economy.Originally posted by deep97raj View PostYup I've installed only the exhaust.
Not measures exactly but the reserve warning kicks in at 130-140kms after a full tank.
And sometimes fuel meter goes directly to reserve from 2 bars above the reserve line.
Ps - i ride with both baffles out.
The best I get normally is from Indian oil, around 180-195 kms on clam throttle.
HP, BP, shell giving 170+.
Worst I got is 160 kms with Reliance petrol.
Try changing the petrol pump. You never know if petrol pump guys mixing some things in petrol.Last edited by bikersdream; 09-22-2016, 11:02 AM.

Thanks.Originally posted by s1d View PostAt 'reserve' it holds approx 2~2.5L of fuel..
If you want a more accurate FE reading, then ditch the fuel gauge reading and do this:
1. Fill up tank to brim (reset trip to 0)
2. Ride for around 150km, maybe over a couple of days.
3. Fill up again to the brim - note the trip reading.
Your FE will be (trip meter reading at step3) divided by (amount of fuel that goes in at step 3)
Will try it out

KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Since day one. I'm using Normal grade petrol no matter what petrol pump I go to.
In starting days I was maintaining a regularity to fill up at one petrol pump only (That's a trusted one also) but then this thing fails.
Anywhere using who shifted completely from normal grade to Extra premium ?
Or someone who has tried both ?
I don't feel any lack of throttle or missing with Normal petrol, but then maybe because I haven't used the extra premium.
Anyone who can share some info?First I was Scared But then We Made a Deal

I dont think extra premiun will make much difference apart from feeling of engine becomes more smooth.Originally posted by Sird View PostSince day one. I'm using Normal grade petrol no matter what petrol pump I go to.

I tried shell for few days but observed less fuel economy than Indian oil pumps, so moved back to Indian oil and if its no available then HP/BP.

Forget using the 'extra-premium' stuff.. Unless you know for sure it's a higher octance fuel and not just fuel+additive (e.g. IOC extra premium).Originally posted by Sird View PostI don't feel any lack of throttle or missing with Normal petrol, but then maybe because I haven't used the extra premium.

Instead try and add the additive yourself.. and the additive in question here is ADON-P (sold at some IOC outlets). The first couple of times add twice the dose to a tank ful and let us know if you see a difference in throttle response/FE.
I have definitely seen a positive improvement on using ADON-P and Iftex System-G(sold at BP petrol bunks) on my D200, and i couple of friends also use this and have reported a positive feedback.

if you do not notice a difference, then probably the extra-premium will also be a dud.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Hey guys,
Recently on one of the KTM threads I read about an issue, which is the same one I've been facing, but I'm not able to find it now.
Basically, the issue is that when I pull in the clutch fully and press the starter, sometimes the bike fails to start. The starter noise also doesn't come, I.e. nothing happens at all when the starter is pressed. As soon as I slightly let out the clutch or pull it upwards, the bike starts without issue.
I had read that it was due to some part in the clutch, and since I'm going to SVC tomorrow, I would like to know which part it is, as I'm tired of constantly being charged extra for parts that don't even need changing :|
Thanks!

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience

Also, on the thick black pipe, as well as right below it, there are these dirty deposits, which I'm guessing is oil. Similarly from the head gasket area. Is this anything to be worried about or its okay?
Edit: Went to take a proper look, turns out this deposit is all over the the bike, whichever way I look at the inside, this deposit is there. Any idea how so much oil could have leaked? I also couldn't see any oil in the viewing glass.
Thanks!Last edited by AngadV; 09-23-2016, 08:40 PM.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
It's a new bike and I actually thought of stopping after 2 attempts. Because it's just a year old and I don't think it's going to show some signs. But I'm using continuously on my Gf's activa. If that thing will show some signs. Then I can say Adon-P is a thing. Else it smells like petrol [emoji23]Originally posted by s1d View PostYes, that's the one. also available in a 200ml bottle.
