If you open the cap you will see that the plastic pipe actually extends well into the reservoir. Am planning to epoxy a metal pipe (such as a brake line) into the stump and finish it off with a flaring tool. A new expansion bottle is as likely to snap. My bike is barely 1000 km old and literally the pipe snapped as I was gently moving the rubber hose to look at the electrics.

It shouldn't brake easily unless you fiddle with it.Originally posted by Adilkadri123 View PostIf you open the cap you will see that the plastic pipe actually extends well into the reservoir. Anyway only 1000 kms? Looks like you are using for track days only. [emoji4]

Just get a new one man, or leave it as is.Originally posted by Adilkadri123 View PostIf you open the cap you will see that the plastic pipe actually extends well into the reservoir. Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Thanks for the advice. The bike does not start at all due to this warning. I cant even hear the fi turn on. Its just quiet. The thing is after this event I tried pushing the bike to the svc centre. Cause its a bit close by. So once I started pushing the temp bars dropped by itself and I turned it on. And all was fine. The svc guy said it'll take them time to figure out the issue also the coolant level was low. So I did a refill and thought that must've been the issue and brought it back home. Worked fine for two days and the same issue turned up today again. So pushing it back to the svc again tomorrow morning.Originally posted by s1d View Postmost likely a faulty coolant temp sensor. did it go off eventually or are stuck with a bike that does not start due to this warning ?
if you know where the temp sensor is located (it's under the throttle body area and a blue plug iirc), try to unplug the connector and put it back.
And head to the svc and also have them connect their diag tool and check for any error codes and fix accordingly.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
They have a diag tool that is very helpful. I fail to understand why some of these mechanics fail to troubleshoot properly when they have the correct tool and it just requires pushing a few buttonsOriginally posted by rondy_610 View PostThanks for the advice. A low coolant level could probably indicate a leak or head gasket failure. This time around was the coolant level low ?

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
I know. The service people claim they have too much work load. Either way I tried unplugging the sensor cable. Didn't work. Funnily. Even when I had the sensor unplugged and I switched the bike on, the temperature bars were still on full. Seems the issue is much bigger. Probably I have a busted sensor or grounding issues. Cant believe I've to push it to the service center.Originally posted by s1d View PostThey have a diag tool that is very helpful. Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
At least you CAN. Think about us Thunderbird 500 people. We can't even push the bike to the nearest mechanic. I had to beg and plead with a mechanic to come and remove the rear wheel when it got punctured recentlyOriginally posted by rondy_610 View PostCant believe I've to push it to the service center.

as probelm is incosisting, looks like problem with grounding.Originally posted by rondy_610 View PostI know. The service people claim they have too much work load. Try one thing, when probelm pop ups , remove Battery terminals and wait for 10-20 seocnds, then add and tighenten them and try.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Yes, this is a known issue and the nipple is prone to cracks. You can ride, it by no means is an emergency. But, when the coolant expands, it just spews them over the wiring and the frame, and a hot green coolant can cause permanent color change to your orange frame and damage wiring. Get it replaced, vibes are the main reason that causes them to snap. Yes, but quality of some parts leaves a lot of room to be improved.Originally posted by Adilkadri123 View PostCoolant overflow pipe snapped. Can I still ride the bike while I await a new coolant bottle. Cheers!
Picture for reference
Bike is not even 1000 km old. Quality of some parts is abyssmal

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
They are made of aluminum to save weight and also to an extent absorb impact avoiding further damage to other related parts. And the design is also in such a way that when you drop the bike down, these parts are the first to make contact in most cases.Originally posted by SubhashGowda07 View PostWhy ktm just why, A small fall resulted in broken clutch lever and foot peg.
It's a good thing imo.. and are cheap to replace.

Parts breaking off is better than the frame bending or breaking IMO.
Small pats are easy to replace- frame is not.Hero Honda Splendor (June 2001- Present)

BUT I'll do neither. I'll repair it as the new tank will probably be made of the same cheese I suspect.
