Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Got my bike serviced (4th) today. The SVC had 2017 adjustable lever available, so i got them fitted. The clutch lever is under 400 but the brake lever is 1800!
There's something fishy about that price! But the levers are much better than the old ones, even just in feel. The problem with after market levers is their design: the adjuster is usually in some flashy color and really stands out and if you happen to park your bike in a public place, chances are people will fiddle with it and break it. Not a problem with 2017 levers.
Also, while inspecting the bike back home (after getting the bike serviced :-P) i noticed a long crack in the airbox. Apparently this is a common problem.
Does this require an immediate fix or is it okay if i wait till the next service to get it replaced under warranty? I am worried that unfiltered air might be getting through that crack to the engine.Last edited by incipient; 08-05-2017, 11:18 PM.

don't wait. get air filter box replacement under warranty ASAP. you never know when it becomes larger or it could cause malfunctioning in AFR.Originally posted by incipient View PostGot my bike serviced (4th) today. Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
I recently upgraded my front brake pads to EBC sintered HH rated ones. The braking is so much better now. The stopping power is so much more now. The downside is that they are more noisy but i can live with it.
Btw the brake pads on 2017 390's are also sintered ones. They are from Bremboo and costs around 1800. A friend is using those and he is so much satisfied with his brakes now.

Have a look at metzeler m7rr also.Originally posted by Amodraut View PostYes you should get the W rated metzelers m5 for a better grip. Have experienced this myself that the H rated tyres have lesser grip.
They cost a bit more than m5 (W rated) but they are good for everything and grip levels are on par with m5 and m7 grip better in wet and last longer than m5

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience: Hatsumi Track Build Update
The build is on hold thanks to a little goof up in the logistics and the parts for the hand controls are still stuck in the USA
This however was a blessing in disguise because I figured I wouldn't want to drill holes in the new clip-ons to place the stock electrical switch housings. I added a couple of more parts to the list to allow we to complete the install without having to drill.
- Biltwell/ KRP Dual Cam Quick Throttle
- Rizoma Flat handlebar caps
- Motion Pro Slim Right Control Switch
- ProTaper Dual compound Grips
- Brembo Remote Span Adjuster
- Grom Left Control Adapter
- Motion Pro Dual Throttle Cables
All these will be fitted on the 51mm Vortex clip-ons.
The parts should arrive later this month, will post pictures once I have completed installation.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Usually the cracks appear for the most part on the part where the engine breather hose connect to the AB, it's a small square box that sits near the intake snorkel, it's this square box that cracks leading to whole airbox replacement. The air isn't sucked through this crack, it's the blowby gases from the engine that comes through this hose then goes to the intake via this small box. That's why you see, oil stains combined with dirt near that crack. So don't worry about your engine sucking dirty air, it won't suck if anything, it's very insignificant from that crack. A proactive replacement is a good idea since you don't want blowby to make a mess near airbox.Originally posted by incipient View PostAlso, while inspecting the bike back home (after getting the bike serviced :-P) i noticed a long crack in the airbox. Impressed with the list of upgrades you're planning on the motorcycle already. The dual throttle cable and the remote setup is something that I am looking forward to see and hear from you.Originally posted by Pizzaboi View PostThe build is on hold thanks to a little goof up in the logistics and the parts for the hand controls are still stuck in the USA

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Next service means a good 7 - 7.5k km or 4-5 months (I'm just assuming). Mine was replaced and even the new one cracked so my bike is on 3rd air box filter. Bike is under warranty for more 2 months. Had I been late in replacing the first one. The crack on second one would come up after warranty for sure.Originally posted by incipient View Postthanks, good to know air isnt getting in through the crack.

Get things covered under warranty whenever you have time. I do that. So that you can cover most of it under warranty and not from pocket.
P.S. : Don't forget to take a new air-filter along with filter box. It's comes as a whole package in a box and sometimes svc tries to fool.
P.P.S : If you get it changed now, keep the new air filter with you. Because you must be having a new air filter installed because bike is serviced recently.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Hey guys I've got a 2016 rc 390 with slipper clutch , I got the head gasket and other engine seals changed as my bike was leaking engine oil. The performance of the bike has gone down considerably and the clutch also feels weird also takes a lot of time to disengage even though I've left the lever, the service manager is asking to change the clutch plate as my bike has completed 11k kms. Also my bike is now not crossing 120 kmph and should I get the clutch plate changed? Please help me out
Cheers,
Ady

Clutch plates still doing good.
As far as top speed is concern I don't think it has something to do with clutch plates.
Get your bike checked at someother service centre.
