Anyone here tried installing 320mm front disc plate on their old models which used to come with 300mm one.
Do brake caliper also need some modifications in order to do that?

I guess 2-3 members were discussing this just few pages back.

And yes you will have to increase the distance of Caliper so have to add a spacer.

Rotors can be used on stock rim, but the radial mount will be different as they are lengthened by a few millimeters to accommodate the caliper. You can either use a custom spacer or get the setup done from the SVC, completely doable.

Hey VJ, are you sure we can mount the new 320mm disc on the existing wheel. I saw that the rotor mounting points on the wheel is different. Essentially, the new 390s have a different wheel. Am I wrong here? I've attached 2017 and 2016 pictures from the interwebs. You can see the mounting points around the and ring is different. Let me know if I'm wrong here.

Hi, khav. You are ABSOLUTELY right. Clearly a mixed context from my side. The newer ones have a different rim, mount point. The older rotors had a smaller diameter mount points and the newer ones have a bigger diameter and the same RIM does duty on all three, the 2017 Duke 200 and the 250 and the 390 albeit with different size. The 390 has 320 mm while both the 200 and the 250 have 300 mm front discs with the new rim. Plus, the radial caliper mount that is integrated with the fork stanchion is different from the old one. Calipers though are the same and are a direct swap and the spacers are different from the old to new.

            Cheers!

Hi guys, I have a 2015 rc390 and have done some 7k kms.
Coolant level has suddenly dropped and fan turns on after 5 mins of riding? What might be the cause of this? Taking the bike to svc tomorrow.

You can install a 320mm aftermarket rotor but they are expensive

What I would suggest is get the new brembo pads along with the new MC, that will improve the braking by a lot.

Sorry for the long wait for an update on the Hatsumi build.

Installed the Vortex 7 degree 51mm Clipons and the 1/5th Quick Throttle. The throttle from rest to WOT is now just a flick of the wrist.

Also finished the setup of the dual throttle with push and pull cables for any of you who want to do the same I would suggest using the help of a friend with extra small hands.

I am yet to wire in the after market switches as I am still working put the clearance for the Brembo levers. Right now I have to decide whether to hack the stock fairing stay or just build a custom one from aluminum tubing.

I will need to build the race fairing to accommodate the clipons or I might just make custom steering stops as I don't need the full motion of the steering on the track.

I have decided to leave in the plastic ABS barends for the moment, will fit in the Rizoma barends once I have a crash.

If I were to nitpick here, as much as you'd get the remove adjuster, I'd hope to see a proper fluid reservoir next time. And those handlebars are mounted on the pinch bolts of the upper plate?

                    Cheers!

Broke the original holder and the Brembo reservoir is almost impossible to fit other wise. Now using the rear reservoir as a replacement, it is not pretty but it works.

The clipons come with their own holders that mount directly to the fork, the reason for the clearance issues. You actually end up saving quite a but of weight. Both the clipons with the holder and bolts weigh a little less than a single side of the stock handle bar without the bar end weight

You can do the below :
                        1. Remove the battery .
                        2. Over inflate the tyres . (May be 38 psi )
                        3. If possible jack up the bike using paddock stands at both front and rear.
                        4. Park it in a closed space and use a quality bike cover.

Once you are back , change the lubes and you are good to go . Or else give it to a trustworthy friend and have a peace of mind .

But if you're in Mumbai, Delhi / NCR, Hyderabad. I can arrange a safe covered parking + someone to crank the engine regularly + not riding the bike if you want.

Come back anytime and take bike.

My front brake master cylinder is done served.

Earlier about an inch of pressing was needed but now its around 2 inch or more.

Visited the svc today afternoon and they have asked me to come tomorrow and they will do in under warranty. [emoji51][emoji51]

So, is there any way I can talk my way out to get the 2017 model master kit installed ?[emoji23][emoji13]

Why not take the plunge and get the entire master cylinder kit changed. Nopes, you can't talk them into installing the 2017's MC kit. But you can definitely try the new brake pads which are sintered as they say, you can try that, cheap and effective if you ask me.

                                Yes Yes!
The head mechanic is saying the same from day 1. He says get that and feel the difference, you'll be amazed. He even said that the life span is somewhat same or less. My current pads have some 1500-2000 km of life left. I'll surely get the sintered after this.

But first I'm trying few contacts to get the 2017 version lever and whatever needs to be change in MS kit.
