  • RC390 Running very Hard or very hard acceleration

This has been a weird experience from past few days, bike is due for service after more 3500kms and before only that i am finding it very difficult to ride, it feels like bike not very smooth to accelerate, it takes very much effort to do that and over that whenever i idle my bike for warm-up , I can literally see VIBRATIONS on mirrors.. like they VIBRATE LIKE hell !

My bike is cleaned and lubed, infact i do it after every 500kms , but i dont know what's deal with it now, because kind of its running now, i cant use it for more 3500kms...!!

Hello everyone. I have a '17 RC 390 and I am not satisfied with the lighting. The lower beam has a decent spread but it is not bright enough and higher beam spread is a joke. Any suggestions to improve the overall lighting?

390'engines are super good, however they use a small air filter (in size) for this engine. Not sure of RC390, but for Duke 390 a small air filter is being used.
There is high probability that the air filter could get jammed because of high air demand from engine and smaller air filter and it getting blocked. Try to clean/change it and check performance. Everything should be back to normal.

Hey Buddy, Have you tried using both your high beam and low beam at the same time when you are short of lighting. It is tricky, but i felt when both are ON it is manageable to ride. For adhoc basis use the pass light switch. But for cruising or if u want to keep both the lights ON, keep the High Beam / Low Beam switch in the middle position(i.e Neither towards highbeam nor towards lowbeam, just in the middle) which will lit on both the projectors. It needs a bit of practice to get used to for keeping in that position, but when u master it will be useful.

Being said the above, nothing helps us when we are one a single lane road and the oncoming heavy vehicles/cars uses a high beam on us to temporarily blind us which combined with a dirty/scratched helmet visor

Right, so finally, after about 8k kms, my EBC 606HH brake pads wore out on my '16 rc390. While they lasted, they offered really good initial bite, strong braking performance, average lever feel and progression. It was better than stock in every aspect. The flip side was that they costed 4.5k INR and were unavailable in India.

I replaced them with the '17 Duke sintered brake pads for around 1.3k INR, and I'm happy to report that these OEM sintered pads from Brembo are almost just as good as the EBC pads.

My observation is that the initial bite is slightly lower compared to the EBC, similar braking performance and slightly reduced lever feel and progression. Given their price, I cannot complain.

            Thanks
            Avinash

                Hello all,

Sorry about posting about a RC 200 in 390 thread, but i have to change my RC 200's back Tyre, the SVC guy told me the stock tyre costs around INR 5.2K including the labour, are there any better tyres available in market for the RC 200 and for what cost ? need your suggestions.

                Thanks in advance everybody.

don't get it done by service centre.
you can get much better options in that range
Metzeler Sportec M5 (superb grip, less life) https://www.amazon.in/dp/B01IPORMOY/..._o4hdAb18DS0K4

Michelin Pilot Street ( great grip, more life) https://www.amazon.in/dp/B01C89TZWY/..._A5hdAbZ1N5NVG

my personal preference will be michelin.

                      Hey,
                      Thanks for replying.
Yes I have tried the thing you said but that is not something I would usually do on regular basis and its not a permanent fix to me. Just need to replace the stock bulbs with something better available aftermarket. The idea is to get a better spread and brightness than the stock setup.

yes I've bought mine one from amazon itself and got it installed from local tyre store.

                              Sure let me know.

Other thing, I parked my bike idle for few weeks with proper cover. Today when I cranked it up it displayed abs failure on the screen and there was some burning smell too! What could be wrong?

                              • KTM RC390 First Big Crash

So the inevitable happened and I took a little trip through the dirt with the rubber side up at about 70mph. I'm happy to say the bike faired pretty well! I still need to take a more thorough look but for the most part my frame sliders did their job. Current damage total is about $140. Below is a little sneak peek of the crash. Is anyone else racing or tracking their KTM and if you've had a crash did your frame sliders bend your chassis?
