Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Pawan, can you please post a picture of it. I'd like to know whether the newer 2017/2018s come with a red battery as opposed to a black one. Any 2017 Duke 390 owners can you confirm this?Originally posted by Pawan Kajla View PostBut nowadays, even stock one comes in red color. And that is powerful enough for KTM 390's.
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Hello fellow KTM users.
I've been riding very less lately. Just 23k in 2.3 years - Feels sad already.
I've been riding my z250 and car much often because lately I feel a bit boring with RC390. Maybe because I'm using RC390 from 2014 november to now or that I've abused, praised, took extra care, let it get dusty for days, accidents, touring. Did quite lot of stuff.
I'm very interested in upgrading the tyre size to some 180 / 190 or bigger.
I'm aware about the mileage drop, extra load and everything but I'll be using it lesser in 2018. (Apache 310 coming home soon too.)
In my previous ownership days I did some research and it showed that I can fix 180 tyre size in this stock rim. Is it?
Anyone who has done this thing, Please share some info.
TIA!First I was Scared But then We Made a Deal

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Thank you, Pawan. I wonder why they replaced it to RED from BLACK, perhaps the black one wasn't up to the mark, is anyone's guess. However, as long as they keep improving their products, very well.Originally posted by Pawan Kajla View PostHere are some pics of the battery which comes with my new bike.

Re: KTM RC 390- Hatsumi build
Been quite sometime since I've posted and a lot has been done on the bike.
- Wiring harness has been thinned and extra fuses and relays have been removed. Further thinning for auxiliary wiring needs to be removed as well.
- Change of MC from the 18mm Brembos to the the 16mm MC
- Upgraded to the slipper clutch from 2017
- Removed lights and indicators
- Front has been lowered by 50mm
- Running a Powertronics piggyback with a custom map( Map 1- 12.5k redline Map2 -14k redline)
- Removed the ABS unit completely, so no speedo reading only RPM works
- Removed the stock coolant reservoir and added a PET bottle.
Few pictures attached for reference.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Hi ...Need some advice please..I traveled out of India after a month i got my bike around 3 years back.It is in good condition as of now but ridden very less like 4k kms.Bike was serviced always on time and lighty used every week.
My friend will be giving it for service this month so just want to know what things should be changed or inspected considering she is 3 years old now
.I suspect ktm asc guys havent done any routine yearly inspection like coolant change and various things may be due to low mileage.
Also i am upgrading it with EBC sintered brake pads and want to upgrade the MC as well .My MC behaves weird in terms of brake pressure..some time it is fine and sometime the lever travel become too much which is scary at high speed. Can I get a advice for a decent master cylinder which will not burn a hole in my pocket..right now I have RC2017 MC and Continental GT MC is in my mind.
Any advice will be really helpful. Thanks

While you weren't here, the bike was just sitting somewhere or was it used regularly (at least a couple of times a week? Actual use, not just turning it on and idling it for a few minutes)
Anyway, here are things I would get checked, replaced or serviced.
- Battery, check, charge or replace.
- Tyres, check for cracking and bald spots. Replace if necessary.
- Petrol, empty and clean the tank. Check for corrosion.
- Front forks, check for proper working, pump it a few times. Check for cracked seals and overhaul if necessary.
- Chain and sprockets. Check for corrosion. Replacement might be necessary.
- Brakes, now, you probably don't need a new MC going by the problem you are having. Check the MC for proper function. Bleed the system completely. With the EBC pads(or even the MY2017 390 pads) you get really good braking.
This is off the top of my mind. Others might have more to add.

Please follow the checklist below:Originally posted by rawat97 View PostHi ...Need some advice please..I traveled out of India after a month i got my bike around 3 years back.It is in good condition as of now but ridden very less like 4k kms.Bike was serviced always on time and lighty used every week.

- Flush engine and radiator
- Check battery and stator coil
- Replace fuel filter
- Service front forks
- Flush brake fluids and service master cylinder (The RE Continental GT MC is 16mm and definitely offers more bite)
- Replace brake pads to stock sintered pads(The stock pads are now made by Brembo and are half the price of the EBC, not as much initial bite but very good overall)
- Check fuses and replace if needed
- Replace injectors
- Upgrade clutch to 2017 slipper (not required)
- Check chain and sprockets, replace if required
- Check main drive play
- Check valve clearance
- Check and replace tires if required
- Balance wheels

Thanks I will keep all your point in my mind..I already ordered EBC from Amazon and it is on its way so its fine for now..Originally posted by Pizzaboi View PostPlease follow the checklist below:

Also should I upgrade my disc as well or this 300mm disc can easily cop up with increase friction and heat generated.I am planning to get adjustable levers from 2017 model so can I still install continental GT MC with them or I need to go with 2017 model MC..
Sorry I am asking too much question but as I am out of India so not able to check on my own and i am planning to take it to Goa when i will visit India next month. Thanks and much appreciated.
