    Hatsumi Build Update:

The Arrow GP exhaust has been installed.

Will need to fabricate a custom bracket to hold it as the stock bracket was meant to mount to the footpeg.

It is loud but it has a nice deep bass so it doesn't hurt your ears too much. However earplugs are recommended.

It saved about 3kgs over the stock exhaust and also has the advantage of not cooking the rear shock.

I would definitely love to see your motorcycle sometime in Hyderabad. Is this a full system we're talking about or a slip on. Any maps considered for this?

      Cheers!

      The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

You're welcome to come and check out the bike anytime.

It is running on the stock, the AFR seems within a tolerable range but I will be getting a piggy back to make sure I don't blow the engine.

There was a valve cover goggle gasket failure which led to some seepage. This was fixed and I managed to lay my hands on the new gaskets. They have an extra lip to prevent tearing at the goggle area, an issue that has plagued KTM since it's launch. The rubber gaskets for the valve cover bolts have changed as well and now feel like hard plastic rather than hard rubber. Only time will tell if the new gasket survives.

The damage for the gasket replacement was Rs. 330 and free labour since we changed it ourself.

Wondering what a menace this can be in confined space. Nonetheless sounds sweetly menacing. Too much backfire for a concern related to fueling. Keep us posted.

                    Hatsumi Build Update:

Removed the ABS. The module is still there for the MFD and speedo to work but we have removed all the plumbing and placed blank bolts to seal the module.

The original idea was to use the RC200 lines but they were out of stock so we repurposed the rear intake and outlet brake lines as the front and rear brake lines. It isn't as pretty but it works.

For the first time since I have bought the RC390 I was able to bleed the brakes in under 10 min for a super firm lever feel.

It could still be that maybe the ABS unit on my bike was faulty and others may not need to do that same but the lever feel and feedback has improved vastly. Just switching off the ABS does not compare to bypassing the module completely.

The ABS malfunction light on the dash however is switched on but that is something I can live with.

If you want a step by step guide to remove the ABS like I did, let me know and I will make one in the next post.

Pretty sure almost all of you know about the 'secret button' and the ABS fuse, so I will not even go into that.

NOTE: If you use your motorcycle to commute- DO NOT DO THIS... Difficulty: 6/10

                        Time required : 2 hours
For KTM RC: - Disconnect brake lines from the caliper, squeeze the brakes to remove as much fluid from the lines as possible, tie a rag at the end of the line so that it absorbs residual fluid
                        - Remove side fairings, tank cover - Disconnect ECU, disconnect fuel lines and drain pipes - Remove tank
                        - Remove battery and fuse box
                        - Disconnect wiring harness under fuse box
                        - To the top right hand corner of the chassis you will see the ABS module with the front and rear connections, disconnect the lines
                        - Use a T or a ratchet set to reach the bolts, remove bolts and disconnect the lines.
                        - Use a syringe to soak up the remaining fluid in the ABS module
                        - Remove the tire hugger to remove the line and ABS wire from the rear caliper
                        - Disconnect line from Rear master cylinder -Disconnect and remove front brake lines
                        - Reuse rear brake lines for the front and rear master cylinder.
                        - Refill brake fluid and bleed brakes.

You need to leave the ABS module connected if you want the speedo to work. If you don't need the speedo, you can remove the ABS module itself for further weight saving.

Your brakes will feel a thousand times better and you won't spend 10,000 hrs wondering why you still have air in your system after 20,000,000 bleeding sessions.
You could alternatively use the RC 200 lines or Duke 200 lines for a better fit.

The Duke 390 has almost identical steps and the tools required are exactly the same.

All I could understood with these steps is you are eliminating the leverage given to ABS which tighten your fluid and thus extra pressure to the pistons for better braking. Am I right?
