Hello all, after much await tomorrow I might receive my D390. I am seeking to be aware of few things.
    1) what all documents should I expect to receive at the Time of delivery, one of staff member at dealer shop told me that I will receive bike chalan and insurance papers , invoice and tax papers require authentication from RTO hence can cannot be delivered at the time of delivery.

Pls confirm if that is true.

2)how many kms can I clock without a no. Plate . Dealer is telling me that it is going to take 3 weeks in Navi Mumbai cause

        1. You get insurance paper, your money receipt.
If they are saving Road tax slip and invoice will take time. You can trust them.

Ask them to write the same on official letter head so that show it to cops if they stop you.

        2. For now, put A/F on number plate.
Cops might stop you in between anytime, depending on their mood. Your insurance document can prove that its new vehicle.
        Then put the number asap.

I've ridden for almost 1.5 years without number. (No front - No rear). But that was illegal.

Yes, the 2017s are indeed very much refined compared to the old lunatic nature of the bike. The KTM engineers have worked really well on how the vibes are arrested at the handlebar level. Though the old have a rather "character", the newer are very smooth when compared to the preceding models side by side. And you're absolutely right, the brakes are a revelation from the old ones. I'd suggest you replace the pad, the MS and the lever, one can probably do one finger braking with this amazing setup.

They will give you dealer printed receipt stating so and so much amount has been received with a dealer stamp, they will give you the two keys, owners' manual and the insurance paper. The road tax, RC papers will be given once the RTO processes are fulfilled.

            Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

              Sorry but what?
Does that mean right now people are not doing the onefinger braking?
But! I'm doing that right from the first RC (the first gen) to even now. And there is no problem in that.
Yes the new setup is big difference but old one works perfectly on one finger.

One can get the pads first and enjoy braking as said by my Head Mechanic. If in budget and further needed can get the kit.

Also, you can avoid getting the new lever to save some money. Because that makes zero difference other than looks.

I think you understood the context a little differently. Most riders do use two finger braking. One finger braking might not be everyone's cup of tea and not everyone is comfortable using one finger. Brakes would work on any finger (s) as long as enough force is applied and the rider is comfortable, thoughwhat I would like to emphasize here is the "confidence" that the 2017's inspire is significantly to that of the preceding models.

                Cheers!

Each rider has his own sweet spot when it comes to clutching and braking using the levers, and some things are self-learnt and taught and adapted as opposed to the other way around. The 220, yes it's still a firebreather.

Went to school to pick my lil brother up
Parked my bike just in front of the main gate
Went in picked him up and came out
Saw someone tried to rip the pillion seat from behind
Applied a lil fewiquick and isn't noticeable now

Kinda pisses me off. Why do people even do this

                          Hatsumi - Build Update

Installed the aftermarket Motion Pro Start/Stop Switch and modified the stock triple for a cleaner look. There are some clearance issues with the stock fairing stay because of the 7 degree off set of the Vortex Clipons.

I simplified the wiring on the Motion Pro Switch since I didn't need the break light switch, I reused the relay from the stock housing so that it switches off the lights when I crank the engine and then turns them back on once the engine is running.

The wiring will be further simplified when I get the race fairings since there will be no lights.

Everything else fit as it should.

I still need to fine tune the position of the clipons, maybe I will have a better understanding after the track day tomorrow.

                            Hatsumi Build Update:

The clearance for the clipons is not an issue on the track. You only notice the clearance issues during u-turns.

The vibrations can be felt so I ended up installing the Rizoma barends to make it less pronounced.

Installed the dual compound grips, they work well.

The removal of the unnecessary parts has not only lightened the bike but the advantage during launch is very apparent.

A few pictures from the track

The first picture shows you clearance difference you gain with rearsets.

The second is a picture on launch, it is pretty difficult to keep the front wheel down in the first 2 gears but it gets more manageable after that.

The third shows the current ergonomics with the rearsets and clipons

Hahaha just regular cast, we were unable to find a reliable lathe technician to get it cut out of billet Aluminum.

This is the stock triple with just the extra bits cut off and then buffed to give it the bare metal finish.

The plan is still on to fabricate or CNC our own custom triple and fairing stay, I just need to find the right fabricator for it.
