  • Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience

Unfortunately had my first crash yesterday. A guy swerved into my lane and hit my handlebars and I lost control of the bike and went down..
He didn't even bother to stop.

What would be better, claim insurance or not? The clutch lever assembly is broken, my bar end mirror broke off, both gear lever and brake lever are bent. Bar end also looks like it is bent, hope the handlebar isn't..
The fairing didn't even touch the ground all damage was taken by the bar end mirror mount..

Haven't you installed Crash guard? If not, install one. It helps a lot. In fact, I've even heard many ppl say after seeing my bike, "Iss bike ko girne se bhi kuch nahi hoga."

Don't claim insurance for such petty repairs. replacing all those parts will cost around 1000rs max.

if overall cost is below 3-4K (looks like it will be less than 3K here) then dont claim insurance.

Any crash guard/ frame sliders. Though take the ones with deeper screw holes in them for attaching the bobbin as it improves the stiffness and load-taking capacity.

Yesterday I completed run in period of my 1 month old RC390. So today I thought " it was time to exploit the bike. Lets see what's really under that fairing that everyone talks about." So wore my riding gear and went off to the the highway. I twisted the throttle to its limits. 4th gear and i was already at 135 kmph! I released the throttle cause i didnt had any more guts to go further. This little beast just gave me the best experience of my lifetime! I came back home with a smile on my face and said to myself- You have made the best decision of buying the KTM RC390 rather than other expensive competitors in this category(no offence) . Yeah this bike has some minor issues. But the fun factor it has is unmatched. Thanks to KTM for such a great pocket rocket!

                    Strongly Agree.
Has it's fair share of niggles but at the end of the day it puts a huge smile on the face and that is all that matters!

yes its really fun to drive even after 1 and half year.
its really powerful bike so be easy on throttle ... specially on wet surface and roads having some sand scattered..
