Undoubtedly if you are not confident with your brakes. Do have them checked.Originally posted by Amodraut View Post"As I lay rubber

now coming to the fan, will it also fit the duke 200 ? all i've seen is folks with the 390's plonking this fan in. is the radiator/fan mounting points the same on the 200 and 390 ? I know 390's coolant capacity is a little bit more coolant than the 200, but i am assuming the radiator is the same across the ktm's. Can you check with your svc?
i'll be visiting my svc a couple of weeks later and will check with them too.
As VJ said it will fit the 200. But I don't think it's needed at all.
And to clarify for all, the coolant temp gauge never crosses the 8th bar, that is it stays at the 8th bar, even in slow moving traffic on a 48 degree afternoon.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
i wonder why the fans on the 390's fail a lot.. at least that's what i've seen in the past (up to mid/late 2015)Originally posted by TrippieHippie View PostAs VJ said it will fit the 200. But I don't think it's needed at all.
the 200's fan rarely fails from my observations. and both the fans are identical and made by the same company.
maybe its because the 390's fan runs more often ?
my 200 from oct 2014 (with the revised fan design, i.e. with shroud) hasn't given up yet
. its been thru it's share of pressure washes and rains.
the reason i was looking to plonk in the spal is because its a open design, which i believe aids in moving more air and i really don't mind a bit of extra heat on my legs as long as the engine/coolant stays cooler, plus it not as loud (though at times i enjoy the shrouded fan sound especially when it startles folks at traffic signals
)
And probably i might get one as a gift some time later this year!

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
If your battery is old, it has lost its capability to hold charge.Originally posted by AngadV View PostGuys I had a small question, these days, whenever I don't use the bike for a day(or more), it takes a lot longer to start up, any idea about the reason for that? Anything to be worried about?
Thanks!
Get it replaced or get it charged.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
i think your bike is just a few months old right ? if so, this shouldn't happen normally. just thumbing the starter for a couple of seconds should fire up the motor.Originally posted by AngadV View PostGuys I had a small question, these days, whenever I don't use the bike for a day(or more), it takes a lot longer to start up, any idea about the reason for that? do you open the throttle when you try to start it ? If yes, then please DO NOT open the throttle while you start the bike.
you could also try to first put the ignition on and then off and then again back on (but don't start). this helps the fuel pump prime a bit more and supply fuel to the filter and to your injectors.
after doing the on-off a couple of times, thumb the starter but do not open the throttle, even a wee bit.
if multiple on-off cycles helps, then it could be that the fuel pump is not operating at its optimal pressure.. do get it checked up.
Another part that could be causing this issue is the auto choke mechanism, if its not operating normally you might have cold start issues.

Today I checked what you said. I do not open the throttle while starting, so thats not an issue. I tried the on-off mechanism, but that didn't make an improvement either. In which case, I guess it is the battery, or as you said, the auto choke. Is that anything serious? My next service is in 3 weeks, I can wait till then right?
PS The starting issue happens when the bike is switched off for more than an hour, much less a day(noticed that today).
Thanks a lot!

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
battery issues are rare for a 6 month old bike. if the bike is cranking normally i.e. making an attempt to start then the battery should be fine (but remember continuously cranking it i.e. thumbing the starter for long periods of time will drain the battery, and if you dont ride around much the battery doesn't get charged back up as quickly)Originally posted by AngadV View PostYup you're correct, its been 6 months now

if it isn't starting after even 1hr of stand still , i suggest you get it checked at the svc. it could be the autochoke or fueling issues.
one thing that you could try is to open the petrol tank first and then after a few seconds turn the ignition on and then start it.. sometimes an air lock might also cause these intermittent starting issues.
