    Hey guys
Need feedback about power delivery from rc owners

I have ridden my 2014 rc 390, his bike had linear power delivery, no sudden surge of power
And my bike has all out top end power, comes alives post 7k rpm and pulls like a maniac.

    What about you guys?

So bike was running well and good.
2nd service done a week back. And after that I've hardly ridden 70km.

Just now I started bike and it did not. Completely failed to start.

By this time I had tried thrice.

And then I felt petrol smell is all around and I see a lot of petrol on engine area and on sand below bike.

After noticing a bit. I see this (attached pic) is the area where it's leaking petrol from when I hit the start button.
Somehow the pipe is not in its place.

This spot is completely out of hand reach. I'll have to drag the bike to svc (2 km) tomorrow.

Any idea how to fix it temporary ?
          How did it happened ?

From what i can see in the pic, it is the idle control stepper motor mounted on the throttle body.
Are just in case, make sure that the pipes to the fuel filter are connected properly.. maybe someone tried to mess with them in parking.
At second service they usually do not touch the throttle body.
Do get it investigated at the svc.. maybe a gasket failure between the ics and throttle body.
Also just get the air filter box opened and check for any wetness/residue in case fuel back flowed.

Where exactly is the leak, all I see is the stepper motor. Leaking fuel after starting the engine is to looked into on an ASAP basis, you "might" have loose hoses, cracked fuel tank due to overtorquing etc. Whatever it is, the motor is hot putter, you don't want flammable liquids near your crotch lit up like Tyrese Gibson, light me up boy. Since you're having this issue after the service center visit, I'd be contemplating a revisit, and fast.

              Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
              The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Sorry that I couldn't make it up clear.. Please see the attached pic now..

White circle : That's the black part I was talking about. It's missing his pipe portion.

Red circle : A pipe coming from up there should be in joining this black part.
The pipe was there but completely out.
When I hit start button, the pipe was throwing out petrol.
There is no space for hand or even 2 fingers to reach. So I just tried to touch it from a stick and the pipe got push upside..

                Problem parts :

The amount of petrol it threw in just 3 attempts to start bike.

What seems to me is the only reason is petrol pipe is out of its place, leaking petrol on attempt to start and thus the bike won't start.

I cannot fix the pipe, there is no space for fingers to reach and I don't have which part I have to open up to be able to reach it.

Even I was scared to death because on The next morning I had to leave for 5 days trip to Himalaya's.

This problem would have either ended up with a burnt vehicle case due to hot engine and petrol rain on it or I would have been stuck somewhere.

I'll go to svc today. And update!

Dont worry normally petrol will not burn when it touches hot surface

Since the petrol only will get evaporated. It will burn only when there is a spark (i hope how would it be when i was riding and suddenly my vehicle starts burning :Ghost rider

I couldn't find H9 bulbs anywhere in shops in Chennai. It was not available online either. Only place I could find the bulbs was in the KTM ASS (Jai Bajaj Adyar).

I was not sure so havnt took chance with 65w bulb otherwise it would be preferred choice for me as well.

RC390 projector are very basic, basically fog light projector(fog light projector are weatherproof and you can leave it exposed) not like they are designed specifically for halogen ,I have seen myself fiddling with shutter and they cutoff lot of lumens .

Probably you got cheap hids that why you might faced the problem..I have posted the photos in this thread with the diff ,will try to post again but dont know where i misplaced them or probably lost them.those hid i got from dvj auto (search in FB) and they cost me more than 5k ,they are with asics tech(4300k & 3200 lm) i think ..i will get the details again.
but if you can run 65k bulb without any problem than i will suggest that as well as it will be much cheaper and give you higher illumination as first step.

editing this post ..pics are in page 266 of this thread.

Thanks for linking the photos. Your HID looks better than the one I bought. I paid Rs 2400 for a pair on dx.com.

I will post some pics of my HID once I fit it. I am still thinking where to mount the ballast.

There aren't any precautions per se, it weeps for no reason, you just never know when. Get your gasket replaced -- sometimes the SVC guys reuse the same gasket using Loctite. Ask them specifically to change the gasket and then apply Loctite.

I visited the svc, the guys said that this will not affect the bike, sprayed some kind of spray on it and asked me to observe if it leaks again.. if it leaks i will surely insist to get the gasket changed. Ahout the brake issue i had posted he said that he would have to check the bike and would require a day to do that so i will be doing that later, exams.

Hey guys, my friend's RC390 met with an accident a month ago. He got it fully repaired from Authorised Service Center. Last week his front fork started leaking which is a know issue in KTM bikes. It should be covered under warranty. He went to ASC for getting it repaired but the Service Manager said that it is an accident bike so it won't be covered under warranty. Is it true that accidents void warranty?
