RC390 on a completely flat tyre is also close to impossible to push. Causes much pressure & pain on the shin and calf area in legs.

Also, for Royal Enfield you have to pay for your sins of buying one [emoji23]

That's bajaj actually and as said by others, it is to save weight and other damages.
Also, the few pegs are a bit high priced and more sturdy than these. Get the new one now.

Hi everyone, I have been a silent stalker on this forum for quite a long time and finally got a reason to post. I got my RC390 around a month back and have clocked around 1k kms on it. I was doing some routine maintenance on my motorcycle and ended up removing the fairings just for kicks. And this is what i found : Click image for larger version

There is a pencil lodged between the layers of plastic inside the RHS fairing. The pencil seems to be jammed in there and then broken off. This is how i received the motorcycle from the dealer.

Now I did not remove the pencil out in the fear that it might cause annoying vibrations and i would not be able to bear it on my daily commute to the office. I might ask for a fairing replacement under warranty if this is going to cause me long term grief. Just wanted to let you guys know the kind of things we need to put up with and check for before taking delivery of your bike.

Not sure about the foot pegs, but the levers are, IMO, designed to break off that way. Look at the picture below. Click image for larger version

That notch on the lever is a structural weak point that enables your levers to break there instead of warping the housing or breaking closer to the attachment point making it unusable for a ride back to the SVC. I've had my Apache and Unicorn clutch levers break and it has left me stranded.

Try one thing, when probelm pop ups , remove Battery terminals and wait for 10-20 seocnds, then add and tighenten them and try.
The problems didnt end there. I dismantled the seat and found greasy layer over the air filter box. Apparently I was running the bike for a few miles with a cracked airbox. I've no idea how this happened. Also I found moisture inside the display console aswell and a loose screw with an annoying vibration from the lower belly panel.

This is the state now. They've removed the whole air filter box and now they claim they need to check the whole wiring kit.

Do you keep your bike covered?
Are there kids playing nearby parking lot of bike?
I am not saying that it might not happen @ svc or dealer, but This could have been done by a kid fiddling with bike out of curiosity.

I have seen number plate painted with colors, seat scratching, removing stickers etc in my society parking.
RC is a magnet for kids.

Best solution is to keep your ride hidden under good cover when it's parked.

One more air filter box cracking case.
I have 2015 rc model and recently observed minor crack on filter box. planning to get it replaced in next month.
By the way, your rc model is of which year?

No kids where i live and the bike is parked in an alcove that many people rarely enter. There are easier ways to mess with the motorcycle, which has a more visual impact. I'm pretty sure it came from the factory this way or the dealer wanted make sure the rattling did not shoo away customer taking delivery.

                Couple of questions guys.
                1. My 2016 RC390 suspension bolts do not have any cover. I have seen photos where these are covered up with some kind of black plastic cap. Is this aftermarket? Mine looks like this : Click image for larger version

                2. Did your RC390 come with a mudflap for the front mudguard? Saw a youtube video which said it was part of the 2016 changes.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Those covers come from the factory and are sometimes removed after PDI or just before delivery. They have no practical use as far as I know. Don't worry about that.

yeh those plastic caps on the bolts are usually removed during pdi/before delivery and sometimes not.
iirc the 2016 get a mudflap. and items such as the mudflap , rear view mirrors come in a separate box and are installed during pdi/delivery.

Front mud guard is very useful. I got it after 1 month of follow up with svc. So insist for mud flap.

Air filter box should be replaced under warranty if the bike is under warranty.

                            Hi Sird,
I am planning to keep rc for long term and hence calculating the cost and list of most prone to fail parts in next 10 years, so needed part number and price.
I think this air filter box and radiator fan are the two parts which are prone to fail mostly.

The 2014 and 2015 model has somewhat weaker quality of air box filter.
But if you'll get 2016 new model air filter box it will not be cracked like this.

Same with the radiator fan. The 2014 model was problematic, and then 2015 model was a bit improved.

You can always get part number and price from SVC.

Obtaining spare parts in the open market for these ktm's is almost impossible.
For the part number, you can check out the parts manual at the svc. They have a parts manual for every model year.
Apart from that, ktm spareparts finder sparepartsfinder.ktm.com also gives detailed part break up/part numbers but these are mostly export versions part numbers which differ from our desi part numbers in some cases. But these are useful as a reference.
