That is wrong information from what i know. There is nothing that states warranty is applicable only to first owner. The clause of warranty getting void is if any service within the warranty period is skipped, atleast that is the main clause.

Ask them to give this in writing , that should make things fall in place.

    Cheers

    Hi Krishna.
First of all thank you for replying. As I am a newbie here, I get all excited when I see someone has replied to my post. Well as for the warranty part, akhilash95 says it is not transferable to the second owner as per user manual. I have downloaded the user manual from the KTM website and cannot see such info. Anyways I have sent a mail to KTM with my query and hoping for a reply. It does not make any sense for the warranty to be applicable to the first registered owner only. I am picking up the bike on Monday 4-3-2015 as I have already paid a token advance of Rs: 10000. I had initially booked a new bike only but the waiting period is getting too long..... So lets see. Will let you know when I receive a reply from KTM else will need to see higher-ups or someone who can fix this silly warranty not transferable stuff.

This is from a Duke390 manual and in probability, this exists even in a Rc manual.

The warranty claims can still be done if you are in good terms with the svc manager.

        PS-I own a 2nds D390

              Hi Akhilash95
Ok. Thanks for the pic which shows me the warranty part. So there is nothing that I can do about it I guess. Anyways, I am not transferring the bike to my name so they will not and ''cannot" deny me the warranty in this case. Think I am going to have fun with these guys should any issues crop-up with the bike..Will just say it is my friends bike as I have already informed the first owner and he is ready to help. I am also waiting for the reply from KTM. If they deny warranty to the second owner as per manual.... then I will ask them for a logical explanation as to why the warranty applies for first owner only. Anyways, all in all; I am excited to get the bike tomorrow... It is in a brand new condition. 600 kms on the ODO... so u can imagine. BTW, you said you have a 2nds Duke 390... have you transferred it to your name and how are you managing the warranty part? Thanks Akhilash95 once again for the manual pic

The bike I bought was sitting unused for 3 months and the first didn't bother to get the second service done and it lapsed.

I got the 3rd service done when the bike was 7months old. So no question of warranty.
But in case I get any problems, I know few people in the service centre personally and can get it done.
Got the bike transfered to my name as insurance in my name is more important to me as first owner went abroad.

PS - Insurance in your name is more important than a warranty. If its a genuine warranty related issue, the svc won't bother much and will replace the offending parts.

PPS- curious to know why the first owner is selling with just 600km on odometer. If you don't mind , how much did you pay?

Same is the case with ninja. The warranty is only for first owner. I sometimes wonder, are they giving warranty to the bike or the owner

In my opnion not a very bright idea either for you or your friend. Legally you are better off having all the paperwork as clear as possible in every walk of life. From your friend's point of view certainly not the brainiest of options keeping the bike still in his name after selling!

Hypothetically if you and your friend fell out (yes it does happen to the best of friendships!) or there is an accident, or fines to be paid or outstanding finance don't think your friend would be best pleased if fine slips, police turned up at his door or if financers turned up at your door lol

I dont think its worth the hassle you might have in the future. Only my view, think about it!

Hi akhilash95... Got the bike today in the afternoon... Well. what can I say... It is as brand new. It is really fun to ride, a whole new world. I cannot understand why people are selling this fast. It seems very strange to me as I have never seen any automobile owners selling their vehicles so fast. Take a look at OLX. Search for KTM RC 390 and will find a lot of bikes for sale; most of them have only 300-700 kms on the odo.. Well, I guess they either cant live with the power or due to the comfort levels. I rode it for around 60kms today and anything above 90-100kmph is ok. But at slow speeds or traffic, it is the most uncomfortable I have ridden till date. Wrists pain and your palm will have a deep impression of the handlebar grip so bad that the blood is literally seen in your skin. Slow speeds sounds like a tractor but above hundred is a different world... Overall, I don't mind all the negatives. For Rs:2,50,000, a 373cc machine with 44bhp of power......Life cant get faster at this price point!!! Well, I paid Rs:2,05,000 and the bike has a fancy number too. OTR price is Rs:2,49,507. I could have negotiated further but did not want too. Don't forget to check out OLX....

Well, yes Adilkadri123; what you say is right. I wont have a financier prob as there is no finance. More than the insurance part (I ride with caution always) I am concerned about the warranty. I have read about guys seizing the engines on the Duke390 and the company has fixed it for free. I don't want to end up with a seized engine and the KTM guys tell me I cant claim warranty because the book has second owner registered. Imagine the bill to fix the engine... But, again what I will do is, probably ride the bike on his name for a couple of months and see how the service center guys treat me and then transfer the name. Generally I am a very nice customer as the Royal Enfield and Bajaj guys like me a lot and pay special attention to my Thunderbird and Pulsar 200F. Lets see how it goes with KTM.. Thanks for your advice though!!!

Hi vineeth9188. Well, It is one of the stupidest things I have heard of and i am going to be a victim of their warranty "LAW". Well, we bike enthusiasts should create some sort of a social media exposure to this silly warranty stuff. I am sure with a large group of people fighting for the warranty transfer right; Motorcycle Companies might hear our logical requests..
