That mean I have to set it to position 1 for softer set up....isn't is shasank...?

    ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

Shasank , please tell me about the service schedule.... It is written that 1st on 1 mnth/ 750 km.... And 2nd on 6 mnth, and 3 rd on 1 year..... Is that normal..... Because normally this types of bikes are serviced 1st on 1 mnth and rest all aftr 3 month, depending on time length based..... Is that very long time gape between service schedule is normal for unicorn 160....your view strongly needed.

That is given in the manual. I'm not sure about that.

The service part is normal. But I change oil when I feel the oil is losing life.

I am using Motul 7100. I suggest you not to waste money on this oil. You can use gulf/motul 10w30 or Shell AX7.

Shasank thanks,...I want to know ...
1... if the Honda has recommend 10w30 oil for a particular bike... then can we use other grade oil like 20w40..??
If we can use higher grade oil then what is the effect of it.
( motul 7100 is available in different grades, I found on internet)
2.... If a bike is using mineral engine oil, recommend by company... Then can we use a fully synthetic oil...?? If we can then what is the effect of it.

              1. Try to use 10w40 in summer and 10w30 in winters. 20w40 makes bike smooth, but performance drops. I wouldn't recommend 20w40 (by experience).

              2. Full synthetic is not needed. Our engine is quite small, and at most semi synthetic Motul 5100 or Shell AX7 is enough. But you can use full synthetic, no harm, but choose the correct grade.

Shasank please let me know about the following...
...my total odo is 150 km now...I think the engine is heating up too much or at least much above the normal ( I think so) .... Today morning I ride the bike for 3/4 km with 40-45 kmph in 4th/5th gear , aftr that when I touched the engine , I can't hold it for more then 3/4 second due to the heat.... Is it normal for a new bike or something is wrong with it.....

I had bought this bike very soon after launch and finally sold it last week after 16 months and around 6000 km. My overall impressions

                      - Very fuss free and reliable bike
                      - Engine is very smooth (though some say that it is not as smooth as the 150 engine)
                      - Rear suspension is a bit stiff as it is tuned for handling more than comfort
                      - Mileage is excellent, I was getting close to 50 kmpl in the worst of Bangalore traffic where I rarely get out of 3rd gear
                      - Gear shift is very very smooth
                      - Headlamps can be better, don't inspire too much of confidence at night

Though I was satisfied with the bike, it wasn't meeting my real need, which was a comfortable commuter. It's not the bike's fault, but rather an indication of how bad the traffic has become in my route (ORR in Bangalore). I was getting quite a bit of back and shoulder pain as I was carrying a fairly heavy laptop on my shoulder. As a result, I was finding myself using my Wego scooter almost 4 days out of 5 and taking the Unicorn out only to give it some running. The other reason for me selling was the news of the Aprilia SR150 launch, which has got me very excited, finally a scooter with decent power and handling.

The original Unicorn was a great hit and very popular. However, this doesn't seem to have the same reputation in the market. The interest was lacklustre and ultimately, I ended up with quite a bit of depreciation (sold for 60K against my purchase of 90K).

                        4 services done .
Present Engine oil : Motul 5100 4T 10W30 ( the gear shift has been best since then and low vibes at 85 kmph)
                        After Purchase modification :
Replaced stock bulb with Osram Head light bulb , silver star (HS1 12v 35W ) best available better than philips and bosch .tried both as i was desperate to lighten up my road ahead , now its great
replaced the horns just for looks and some extra foam cushioning to seats
Have done long rides upto 100 to 120 km stretch .

                        Fuel economy : in city 51 - 52 , highways 48 kmpl .

Next i want to experiment Motul 300 V 10W40 ( full synthetic ) as I feel my engine is slightly hotter than usual always.???
and here the ambiance touches 40 deg C too .

300V is not needed. You can try 7100, i used for around 3500km. If temperature reaches 30+ then 10w30 is just not good😛.

                          BTW, which horns are those?

Horns are Roots Spider Eco , 12V , Red Colour , (comes as pair only)

What's the difference between 300V and 7100, guess 7100 will do the job considering price .

Well according to my experience both 7100 and Shell AX7 feel the same. Not much difference.

Yesterday completed the final free service, they filled in barrel oil. I could immediately feel the difference.

Hi guys,....I want to use a full or semi synthetic engine oil ....Motul and shell brand is not available in my place, available brands are Valvoline, gulf, castrol , mak, etc... And please tell me about the fact that can I use 10w40 or 15w40 engine oil when recommend is 10w30....?? If I use what will be the effect..??
