Hello xbhpians.... I recently bought cb unicorn 160... Before that I used my mayestro scooty for touring several times( max 350 km one way)... But now I am planning a approximately 2500 km solo tour from pathankot to guwahati with 6 night halt, with this unicorn 160..... Please advise me what problems may I face with this bike and also what are the positive sides...and also share your valuable ideas, considering the less powerful bike, so that I can complete the ride with reasonable comfort and and within reasonable time.... Thanks

Re: Honda Unicorn 160
The bike is quite powerful. Can cruise at 80-90 all day comfortably. Can even cruise at 100 for some time. The bike has enough power to help in overtaking even at 70.
A disadvantage is that seat is quite hard. Take breaks every 1-2 hrs riding this bike.
The chain in my bike has been adjusted only 3 times. During first service, second service, and the previous week. Make sure the chain is well lubricated and carry some lube as well. Being a fully closed chain, it is advantageous.
Headlight is bad. It's not meant for highways. If you are doing some night riding I would advise you to be extra careful. Try changing the bulb to Osram Silverstar or fix some auxiliary lighting.
The tyres tramline a lot. Grip levels are not bad. Also the bike sways a lot in crosswinds due to its light weight and light front.
All in all a good bike, sometimes I feel this bike is meant for highway cruising. All the best for the ride. Ride safe.Last edited by Shashank K R; 07-17-2016, 01:43 PM.

Re: Honda Unicorn 160
Uni 150 is heavier, smoother than the 160. It gives a solid feel due to its weight. Very comfortable. Very good for city thanks to torque coming at lower rpm.
Uni 160 is lighter (very easy to flick) and faster. Seat design could have been better. Not as smooth as the 150, but still smooth. Better cruising capability. Feels like it's made for highway. Accelerates very quickly. Coming from the 150 you'll feel some discomfort due to the seat, and you'll feel that it's very light (someone said it felt like a 125). But it's comfortable.
I can say that the 160 has a little bit of mischief in it [emoji13] while the 150 is calm and composed.
Looks I can't comment, it depends on the person.Last edited by Shashank K R; 07-18-2016, 11:05 PM.

Please let me know about the following things....
1. It has a fully covered chain , so how I myself can lub it at every 300 km ( read at forums that chain should be lubed at every 300 km).
2. How much it will cost to change the bulbe and dose it really improve the night riding capabilities.
3. Can I comfortably drive this bike at 90 kmph for continue 2 hrs....

Re: Honda Unicorn 160
1. There is an inspection window with a cap, remove the cap and lubricate.
2. Lighting can't be improved much. Only way is to use extra lighting. You get auxiliary lights which can be fitted on the crash guard or handlebar.
3. Yes, but you will feel tired riding continuously. Take breaks in between.Last edited by Shashank K R; 07-20-2016, 12:12 AM.

Re: Honda Unicorn 160
The farthest I've gone is around 100km one way. The seat is quite hard. So I had to take a break in between. Other than that there were no issues. Lot of wind blast[emoji28] at speeds above 70. Also the seating position gave me some knee pain after sometime.Last edited by Shashank K R; 07-20-2016, 01:01 AM.

Re: Honda Unicorn 160
@ Shashank K R,
Hi, you seem to be having good experience about the uni 160. Could you let me know, in your opinion, which bike among uni 160 and uni 150 should I opt in the current scenario. Since, there is only 3k difference between these two bikes, I'm quite confused.
This is going to be my first bike, so I dont have much prior knowledge about the ownership experiences or DIY repairs. Im looking for a basic 150cc commuter with better mileage and trouble free experience. Which would you suggest among them??
Thanks//

Re: Honda Unicorn 160
Well I've said what I know about the bikes[emoji1]. A test ride I feel could help solve your dilemma.
You can't go wrong with both. Smooth, good mileage and ultra reliable. It all comes down to personal preference.
The older Unicorn gets no nonsense styling and is a bit dated. The 160 has some sort of sporty looks and performance wise is much better than the 150.
If you want a no nonsense calm bike, go for the 150.
If you want a little bit of sportiness along with some fun, go for the 160.
You could try the Hornet/Gixxer as well.Last edited by Shashank K R; 07-20-2016, 01:41 AM.

Re: Honda Unicorn 160
Hi shasank.... Do you feel the rear suspension of unicorn 160 is much stiff than it should be for a long distance running bike..??? I feel it a little stiff ..... In the reviews of this bike it is written that rear suspension can be adjusted 6 way..... Should I tell the mechanic during first service to set it to more soft position..... What is your opinion regarding this....and what you have felt during your ride.
