Re: Honda Unicorn 160
Yeah here they charged 165 with taxes. And the service centre guys did not clean the oil filter strainer screen or the centrifugal filter.. they said this is not needed now and they said they will have to open clutch plate and will have to replace the package after opening.. which they did not have in the store...

Re: Honda Unicorn 160
today i was going at around 60kmph when a girl suddenly decided to cross the road.
i applied the rear brake and for the first time experienced fishtailing. but somehow i managed to control the bike.at that moment i really missed not having a rear disk brake(i have the cbs version)
is there any proven method to prevent fishtailing?

Re: Honda Unicorn 160
Use front to retard and rear to stabilize. There is a thread here which tells how to brake , read it .Originally posted by teamSpidey View Posttoday i was going at around 60kmph when a girl suddenly decided to cross the road.

Re: Honda Unicorn 160
Friends, I am upgrading my current bike (HH Splendor) and almost decided on getting a Unicorn 160 after having seen Gixxer (ignored due to pillion seat, less FE and ground clearance) and Hornet (ignored due to weight that I feel I cannot handle and also over priced). I saw the Matte grey variant and it looks good.
Ignored the re-introduced Unicorn 150 as well primarily due to its weight (146 kgs) and also the same old styling (was told Uni 150 has 2 months waiting period as well).
Btw, I am 35 yrs old, 5' 4'' and sportiness is not my cup of tea.
But yet to test drive Uni 160 as I went to showroom twice but was told that the test bike was not available at that time.
Honda sales guys have a worrisome 'don't-care' attitude. Blame it on the sales of India's largest selling 2-wheeler - Honda Activa.
I feel even Unicorn 160 is a little overpriced as well but currently it is the only bike that ticks all my requirements boxes - commuter styling, reliable engine, decent power, pickup, good FE, etc. But, my major concerns are - 1. Rear suspension stiffness 2. Honda's sales and service quality 3. Ground clearance, to a minor extent.
Also worried about stories of over-heating engine and poor mileage from users in various online forums.
Is it worth a buy? Please help me decide.

Re: Honda Unicorn 160
i had almost ordered hornet when i realized that its tank is made of fiber.gixxer also has same fiber tank.somehow i didnt like the use of plastic fiber on the tank too.
as i wanted to buy a japanese bike only(for some obvious reasons) i had to settle with the unicorn 160.
imo the design is the only negative aspect of uni 160.if you are ok with that you can surely go for this bike.

The tank cowl is fibre. The tank inside the cowl is metal.Originally posted by teamSpidey View Posti had almost ordered hornet when i realized that its tank is made of fiber.gixxer also has same fiber tank.somehow i didnt like the use of plastic fiber on the tank too.

But yes the tank cowl is prone to swirl marks.

Re: Honda Unicorn 160
except RE all bikes today have plastic fiber panels.only the tank has been left out which is still mostly made of metal only(on the outside too).
i dont like the idea of using fiber on the tank too.cbr and r15 still have metal tanks.
otherwise,i had spent about a month deciding between hornet and gixxer but ended up buying unicorn 160.

Re: Honda Unicorn 160
My bike engine has become louder after the service, once it gets heated. Not sure what has caused this, The total run so far is about 12300 km. I am also feeling jerks in the bike when I try to accelerate. It is not as smooth as it was earlier. What needs to be done to rectify this? Earlier during service, the svc guys asked to get engine flush and decarbonization, for which I said no. I thought that is not needed with only 12k run.
Also, I felt rear suspension was little too hard, so asked the svc mechanic to make it softer, But it seems he made it more stiff. How should it be turned to make softer? Clockwise or anticlockwise (while looking from above)? He had done it anticlockwise.
