I changed it after completing 29000 kms. Stock tyres still going good after 31000 kms. Need to make some changes but overall it is in great shape after 2 years and 4 months.

I had few questions to fellow riders. Apologies for the long list. Need suggestions on below
      1. I want to either replace or add on to the head light. Need more light, not necessarily sharp that hurts the on coming drivers/riders but still gives me better view up ahead. Please suggest something practical and usable.
      2. Want to know how long should I use the tyres. Both my tyres are stock tyres. Ran 31000 kms. The grooves look still okay. What's the telling sign of replacing it? If I need to replace what tyres will be better from touring perspective that will fit on this bike? Should I replace both front and back tyres together?
      3. I haven't got the front suspension serviced yet. Please tell me after how many kms I should get it opened, cleaned, oil refilled.
      4. Haven't changed brake oil yet. It doesn't show any lesser than it was in the beginning. After how many kms or years it should be changed? Or is it only when it goes below the min mark?
      5. Please suggest some good touring kit that I can reuse in a new bike later on as well. In case I buy one.
      6. Need to buy the riding gears like jacket, pant, boot, magnetic tank bag, saddle bags etc. Please suggest good place near Mumbai, Thane or Navi Mumbai.
      7. I always feel that my bike's suspension is very hard. What to do? The service center machenic says it's fine.

      Thanks in advance.

        2. Check the tyre thread. This post will tell you how to check your tyre tread - https://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tyres/4...ml#post1307231 The front normally lasts longer than the rear, but if the tyres are old (number of years) then replace as it tends to get harder and crack and offer less grip as a result.

        3. If there is nothing wrong with it, leaking, pulling to one side etc. don't bother. If it ain't broke, don't fix it These SVC mechs tend to screw things up as much as they repair stuff!

        4. Brake oil is generally recommended to be changed every year.

        5. Touring kit?

        6. Check the riding gear and luggage threads.

        7. The Unicorn has possibly the softest suspension compared to most modern bikes. The mech might have a point, it's probably soft enough already. But difficult to say without actually riding the bike.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

          Thank you Monk [emoji4]

I will check the tread of my tyres carefully to confirm.
For the suspension, I agree on the svc mechanics. Infact I wanted to ask members from Mumbai or Thane to suggest some good outside mechanic.
In terms of touring kit I was looking for bike accessories that are needed for long tours. Like 2000kms+ long. Not sure what Accessories are needed. I am on the heavier side so can't buy jacket or pants online so looking for a decent shop where I can go and try out and buy.

          Thank you once again.

            Hi all,
On 29th August flooding in Mumbai, my bike was in water up to the seat. water entered in air filter carburetor etc. I tried to start it but it didn't start. Then I got it repaired by a local mechanic who removed water from everything. The bike started but now I have another problem.
The bike is stalling a lot. It runs only if I run it above 3000 rpm in 1st gear, above 4000 rpm in 2nd or 3rd gear and above 5000 rpm in 4th and 5th gear. Anything below and it starts stalling and abruptly stops. Also it abruptly accelerates sometimes.
The mechanic says it will get fixed on it's own in 2 to 3 days.
But I am not sure if he is right.
Can anyone suggest what could be the problem?

Also wanted to add that the engine oil was mixed with water which was removed and then it was flushed with old oil and then petrol and then filled with fresh oil. Also strangely there was no water in silencer. Even though it was completely submerged in water.
I changed air filter as well as it was also soaked in water.

              Hi all,
Just wanted to update here that this issue was due to spark plug. 2 days later I changed the spark plug and everything was back to normal.

Glad to see so many happy owners of CB unicorn 160.

I need to buy a SENSIBLE & DURABLE motorcycle for my elder brother. He doesn't need all the sporty fuss like gixxer, apache, FZ. He has left the decision entirely up-to me. I have shortlisted XTREME SPORTS and CB UNICORN 160. But I can't decide any 1, both seem pretty good.

I took a 2 km long TD of xtreme sports, it seemed quite peppy, comfortable, with plenty of power. It only looks sports, the seats and suspension are typical Hero i.e. soft and cushy. There isn't a single disadvantage to it as far as I am concerned. But I WISH to buy the unicorn 160 only because it's a Honda! Hence my queries for you guys regarding cb unicorn 160:

                1. How is the low end torque, say around 2500 rpms? Pulls with ease?
                2. Suppose I adjust the preload on the rear mono-shock, is it still stiff for the pillion on bad roads?
                3. How is the gearshift? Is it buttery smooth or clunky?
                4. How is the balance at sluggish speeds, say in a traffic jam? Does it ride straight effortlessly (as in gixxer, apache RTR) or you have to constantly battle with the handlebars to keep it straight (as in old pulsars, other commuters)?

The low end torque is lower than the Xtreme . Xtreme will pull comfortably in 2500 RPM in second gear , but uni 160 needs a shift to first gear often. But above 4000 RPM uni 160 is lot different than Xtreme.
                  Gear shift is smooth .
Suspension is good with a pillion.
I have tiny layer of additional cushion and nothing to complain
Handle bar is spot on and the raised handle bar is very effortless . Do a test drive .

                    Hi all,
I have changed my heahlight bulb with a LED light. Also added two aux LED lights mounted on Leg Guard. And added a wind screen. Total cost of lights + leg guard + wind screen + labour charges came to 2730. The LED headlights is of 35W whereas the 2 aux LED lights are of 27W each.
Does anyone knows if there will be any problem with battery or the bikes electricals, if I use all these simultaneously?

35W + 2*27 would be heavy for 12v 4Ah battery . As I suppose all the LEDs are made direct .I am using 24W/40W LED as main light connected as DC ( Chinese H4 led with fan). I mostly use 24W low beam which is more than sufficient. I have not faced any battery issues till now for a month now.

Hi all, This forum helped me to choose my suitable bike. I am new owner of UNICORN 160 and now at its run-in period crossed about 350kms.

Since purchase i feel some engine vibration on handle bar after certain warmup time. Vibration is kind of feeling some clicking effect (w.r.t to engine revolution) on the handle bar and foot rest when reduce speed near 2000rpm.
The feel disappears when I switch off engine and let it cool down and restart.
My riding style is to maintain speed below 4000rpm and at 5th gear it reaches speed of 57Km/h.

Is that ok to follow this riding pattern during run-in period?

What could be the reason for that vibration feel? Will it disappear after run-in period?

Advance thanks to all your suggestions and advice.

Congrats for your new bike. The vibes will go away after couple of oil changes , during service. Maintaining 4000 RPM is good during run ins.

After using Stock 10W30 , Motul 5100 10W30 ( the best) and Motul 10W40 full synthetic for a short time switching to Throttle 10w30 full synthetic. Initial impression is fine, as far the performance and gear shift is concern. waiting to see how it be after clocking some 500 to 1000 kms kms

Thanks thirlok. I also use only the headlight in low beam. I got the aux light so that during any long highway trip I might need more light sometimes and I should have the option at least.
I guess I can manage with only aux light in such cases keeping the main headlight off. I have a separate switch for the aux lights.
