  • Re: Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 Owners Review and Experience

Sorry for being a bit ignorant, it was indeed the side stand which was shutting off the bike on putting it in gear.
    Working perfectly now..

I started getting vibration from the left fairing near the tank where the two black panel comes in contact. I sorted it out by putting a piece of paper in between. I will get the double sided tape on the fairing when it will be opened by the mechanic.

Also I feel that the horn is on the bit slower side, dual horns of p150 are better in my opinion.

If I get the horn changed, buzzer on the indicator and security system on my bike, will it void my warranty!!

I think you should insist on the dealership where you bought the bike to repair it ,as the vibration thing is a manufacture defect and it comes under warranty. Even i had asked them if i could install the gps and get the bike colored with same yellow color but metallic paint(like the 400ss/rs) I was told that it would void warranty,i asked them if they could do it without voiding warranty she said no for that 2 . She said the 400 rs will probably launch in a 1-1and half year time and then maybe they could paint it like that color but again no certainty. IF you do anything to the stock bike the warranty is void(thats the gist of what she said). How long did it take for your vibration thing to start and at which gear and rpm does it normally happen???. I have yet to collect my bike so i can try to emulate the same condition and see if the vibration happens when i go to collect my bike . Also since your also a new rider ,was it easy for you to start the bike without stalling it or did you have some difficulty?. Man i want my bike so desperately now been waiting for 2 months, still some delay or the other keeps coming ,Hopefully i should receive it in the next 2 days (touching wood atm) My bike has apparently come to her around 10 days back but they have just sent the bike to the rto and the papers this Saturday, I hope they are not using it for test drives.I feel like i am having a boxing match of patience and wits with the bajaj dealership lady she shut my complaint with bajaj and immediately after that again has started her antics ,its making me feel angry and bitter. One lesson out of all this is ,i will most likely never buy bajaj bike again no matter how good it looks as dealership people are very bad.Anyway enough with my rants, will try to keep it detail specific.

I drove it for just around 330kms and the rattling noise used to start in 3rd gear at around 4k rpm.
I cannot visit the dealership as I have purchased the bike from Bhopal (only city where it is available in mp) and I live in sagar which is approx 180kms from Bhopal.
For the stalling part, I m not a new driver, my bro previously had the pulsar 150 which I used to drive, so no such stalling issue for me. It's just that I was new to the side stand sensor thing

Painting the bike will not void any warranty for sure. Sai service people do it themselves on new bikes. I am so sure because I saw a brand new Pulsar 220 at the showroom painted in desert green color when I went to take delivery of my bike. On asking they confirmed that they offer this service at time of purchase for Rs 6,000. But you do need to change the registration papers at the RTO with new color edited.

Even GPS mount will not void the warranty because it does not connect to the wiring. Just installing the GPS holder will not void the warranty and anyways, you can remove it before going for the servicing.

As a rule of thumb, any modification involving wiring and performance of the bike will void warranty. Mechanical changes might or might not.

Vibes could be rectified under warranty. Wait for all the issues to crop up and ask them to rectify it during first service. Changing horns is not a problem as long as the stock wires are left untouched. If the svc insist, revert back to stock horns when servicing the bike.
Dual horns can be connected such that one connects directly to the wires while the other is connected from the mount pins using additional wires.
Buzzer was prefitted in my bike by svc. It does not cut wires and so no warranty issues.
Security systems, as I've heard, requires wire cutting which will void warranty. Make sure the stock wires are not cut or damaged and you will have no warranty issues.

              Hi Guys!

I am new to xBhp and the reason I joined so late is that finally my dream has come true!

I have booked the Yellow RS 200 beast today and I just can't stop thinking about it!

It's my first motorcycle ever, bought from my own pocket! Feeling really proud and really excited!!

Though the waiting period is 2 months I hope for some miracle to deliver my baby earlier.

Could anyone please suggest any important tips before I get my hands on my Pulsar?

              Thanks!
Two tires feel better than four. Period.

Regarding material, you can refer my attachment on page 11 for Owner's manual. The PDI is on page 12. You can also read through 200NS ownership thread, it is a treasure of knowledge!!!

Since this is your first bike, research well on safety gears. Make sure that you invest in proper gear. They WILL save your life one day.

                      Thanks Rachit!

Of course, safety is the first thing in my mind and I have decided to buy all the necessary gear one by one ( buying all at a time is a bit heavy on my wallet).

I asked again, the lady has said that any colour other than the stock colours offered by bajaj cant be done by them and it voids warranty.Same goes for installation of gps which you have to connect with the ignition wire.Usually the gps is placed inside the bike ,near the ignition wires and battery . To swap between red and yellow colours of the rs she said it will cost anything between 8k-12k rupees. She seemed to be quite certain on this matter and as usual my bike has not been given its number and will probably happen tomorrow (tomorrow never comes )

If you have bought it from mumbai andheri showroom ,all i can say is Best of luck and may god have mercy on you. As for the rs details i would suggest you read this owner ship blog as it is very informative and rachit sharma has answered all questions regarding the bike and for safety gear here is the link
                            http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/universal-threads/4791-universal-riding-gears-thread.html
                            A few important tips are
1.Check the bike for vibrations at different gears in the handle and fairing and also check for scratches in the panels
2.The front wheel should be stable and not move to the right or left(some1 on this forum had some wheel balancing issue)
3.The bike tires should have the green line in them(which somehow proves they were not ridden and the bike tires are in new condition)
4.Follow the Engine running in instructions for the bike for good performance and mileage.
5.Buy safety gear (good jacket and jeans) start with jacket as i think its most important(i had a accident and mostly my arm area got hurt)
6.Also if you want a good number (vehicle registration number like 1 or something fancy you have to tell the dealer in advance and you may have to pay upto 25k for the special number)(not worth it but you know just incase @_@)
7.Do not pay the money before you get the bike ,If you do you will be like me stuck and the dealer will keep making you wait forever for the bike.(currently at 2 months and still havent got my bike)
I cant think of anything else but as i said above my suggestion is just read this blog again (Rs ownership club XBHP)

                                Pros of RS over NS:
                                1. Reduced wind blast on highways due to full fairing. So, if most of riding on highway, +1 to RS.
                                2. Fuel injection gives better throttle response
                                3. ABS offers increased protection in sudden braking. (This factor was my deciding factor in favor of RS over KTM RC200)
                                4. Projector headlights. If usage high in night, +1 to RS.

                                Cons of RS over NS:
                                1. Looks: totally subjective
                                2. Weight: Lower weight makes NS better in city traffic. If usage is higher in city or in traffic, +1 for NS.
                                3. Vibrations: This is my third faired bike after LML Adreno and Karizma. For half/fully faired bikes, vibration will come into effect after some time. When? Depends on the build quality. Some members have reported mild vibrations in RS. I, personally have not witnessed them.

Both bikes are quite high and are suited more towards taller riders.

                                Other options:
                                1. Suzuki Gixxer R: Terrific design, less powerful engine
                                2. Pulsar 200AS: NS + Half Fairing + Projector headlamps. Best Value for money preposition.
                                3. KTM RC200: Great on track. Not so good for long rides. A bit costly but if you can afford it, a good value for money.
                                4. CBR 150R: Amazing smooth engine. Overpriced like hell. Almost at the end of its lifecycle
                                5. Yamaha R15: Great looks, great performer but less powerful
                                6. Hero Karizma ZMR 2014: I am a self proclaimed Karizma fanboy. Had a 2004 model. Felt betrayed by the new model. So, my views are heavily biased here!

In the end, eliminate few choices, finalize a couple suiting your budget, take a test drive and choose what your heart says!
