    Hey Sanket,

You can surely go for Motul 5100 / 7100. Wouldn't be a problem at all.
Most people recommend switching to 5100 first as it is semi synthetic and then later to 7100 which is fully synthetic.

Pls do remember to take two bottles as they come in 1 litre packs and our machines need 1.2 litres

Wouldn't recommend any other oil apart from Motul as it has been tried and tested by loads of xBhpians on Pulsar 200 NS/AS/RS

Current odo reading 800km and I'll be changing it after 1000km.
      Hey Nakul,

Haven't tried castrol or shell. Have been using Motul 5100 since first service itself. Would recommend using the same one for your kind of usage.
Do remember to change the oil every 3k KMs. Can easily stretch it till 5k KMs, but the engine gets a bit harsh towards the last 1-2k KMs.

Your are among those guys who encourage other rider to treat their bike as the way she need.
P.S-I really felt bad the moment u start dreaming of other bikes instead of getting your bike repaired...

Though this post really fun to read and end with very good message as usual
Thanks Nabin... If stupidity is a crime then everybody in the world is a criminal. This was my time of being stupid

btw the reason for going crazy was that I have faced this issue with my old Karizma and the bike was never the same again after engine rebuild. God forbid if anything like that ever happens again, I'll rather get the engine done and sell it off. Pretty clear on this point

Thanks for the tip [MENTION=87417]sgbikerboy[/MENTION], fair point! It never occurred to me...

Just wanted to know, are you following any calculation for refueling at 230-260km because I usually refueled at 350km. So next top up comes approx 10 liters.
My RS average is 36 km/litre

Could you please shed some info on this...
I refuel from the petrol pump near to my office since there are very few near to my home (There is one but their air machine never works). My daily run is 46 km both way. So if I don't refuel at the 230-260 km mark, I will have to ride for 46 km more before refueling and will be in a danger zone (280-310 km). There are really less petrol pumps on the way and I try to get petrol from the same petrol pump. Once this habit was made, now even if I am riding on other routes, I refuel at 260 km mark max.

I always believe "Rather safe than sorry!". Didn't feel any reason to wait till the last moment to refuel. (Plus I think I have a mild OCD :P)

        • Burning smell!!

          Hello All,

Yesterday I drove at the speed of 120 km/hr...it was fun.
After that I smelled some burning kind of smell and bit fumes coming out the moment I stopped my RS in red signal.
Is anything wrong with my bike?? I am worried!!!
Please guys help me on this...

And also is there any other way to check coolant level as the indicator is pretty blur and I couldn't spot the coolant level.
However I checked by open the coolant cap and fluid was there but I am not sure about the accurate quantity.

          Thanks

The smell and fumes are just the coolant evaporating I think. Is your bike new? I've heard my friend complain about this as well when he did a similar thing on a brand new bike. It's nothing to worry about.

For the coolant, turn ON the flashlight in your phone and carefully stick it behind the coolant reservoir, this way you can easily check the coolant level from outside. Cheers!

Only if the coolant drops below the "MIN" mark on the reservoir. Otherwise no need to top it up.

                    One more question though.
I'll be going for motul 5100 semi synthetic. I'll have to order two of them for 1200ml. But for the next oil change, i was thinking of changing to motul 7100, synthetic one.
So does that mean the 800ml from the first goes to waste or can it be put to use somewhere else?

It's best to use 7100 from the start. You cant really do much with fresh oil other than pouring it in inside the engine. If you use 7100 you can look around and find a 1.5L bottle which is made for the Duke's. If not just use some of it this time, and the remaining at the next oil change. Cheers buddy.

You can mix the 7100 and 5100 to get 1.2L. Even Motul has confirmed that you can mix the oil with no adverse effect.

                        • Engine oil topup..

                          Hello Riderz,
                          Need suggestion!!

Clocked 3200 km in my RS..Today I observed that engine oil changed to black color because of obvious reason.
My query is shall I changed the engine oil now (as I am planning for MOTUL7100) or should I wait for my second service and then get it done?
Is there any harm to stretch Bajaj oil till second service?
I can feel the roughness sometimes in my bike..
                          Quick reply highly appreciated

                            Hey nabin,
The bajaj oil really sucks. It causes a lot of vibrations in the faring, handle and around foot pegs. However, the warranty may void if you use any other oil. My advice to you is to stretch out to the second service. You can do it a little early though. Say around 4000km. And after that you can change the oil to motul 7100. And keep using it till the third free service.
P.s I am planning to do the same. I am at 800kms and will be changing to motul 7100 at around 1200km.
Bajaj oil is unbearable to me though.
                            Cheers.

That is surprising [emoji28][emoji28]. Then you can change the oil at the service time and i dont think the bajaj oil will cause any harm other than the vibrations. It'll last till the service. After all, bajaj recommends to use it till the second service at 5000km. It surely can last 4000km.
But do wait for the more experienced riders to have their say.[emoji6]
