Now, coming to your point, does the oil leak/weep out of the oil filler cap/neck? Or does the flow mark of oil is above the engine cylinder and then flows near oil filler cap? If you find the oil leaking near the oil filler cap frequently, your oil filler cap O-ring should be replaced, it's underneath the cap, costs some 2 to 3 bucks, replace and tighten the O ring, should arrest the leak.

If you observe oil leaking near the head and then flowing near the RIGHT side of the engine, you might have a leaking valve cover gasket. Chain lube usually do not leak like, say, an engine oil. Excess lube does get splashed around and appear gummy on touch, unlike engine oil which is more fluidic. Chain lube usually appear on the left side of the bike and excess gets collected if your bike has a engine belly pan, you can clearly differentiate between a leak and splash of chain lube.

    Hello VJ,

    Regarding oil leakage...
I just visited SVC for this problem, O-ring needs to change which will take one whole day as per SVC. As this job need the whole fairing to be open which is time consuming job.
The problem is, I clocked 3500km on my RS and planning to give the bike for the second service directly.
Can it be a problem to stretch more 1000 km (as second service is on 4500km) with this leakage issue?
Or shall I request them to do the second service now only (can't trust if they will really do).

    Please share you opinion

The O ring you are referring here might be the one that's related to the valve cover, as that requires to remove the fairing. If it's the O ring on the engine oil cap, it's fairly a one minute job. Even though removing the valve covering might take say half an hour, (the whole process of removal and installation) the entire process shouldn't take more than one to 1.5 hour max. I'm quite puzzled as to why it would take a whole day for a valve cover O ring replacement.

Make sure, which O ring they've mentioned is legit. SVCs are notorious for slip of the tongue and they are totally a bunch. Cross check with the service manager on which O ring, is it the valve cover gasket/O-ring or the oil filler cap O ring and make sure they identified the exact cause of the leak.

1k is not going to make much of a difference, ball park. What I would suggest is keep a tab on the engine oil level and replace the faulty O rings, especially if the valve cover is leaking, then it takes first priority. Oil filler O ring isn't a big deal after all.

      Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
      The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

      THE END

Could you be a little bit more precise? Is it the RPM meter or SPEEDOMETER that is not working? They are 2 different things.

I suspect that you are referring to the RPM meter - check your CDI connection. A loose CDI connection happened to me once, and my RPM meter was jumping all over.

Then again, since you've already took it to a mechanic, and he couldn't solve your problem, it could be a more serious issue. Was your mechanic a Bajaj Pulsar qualified mechanic? Did you take the bike back to the original servicing agent?

As you have suggested to use Motul 5100 20W40 oil but don't you think that the grade of oil is different and the manual says to adhere to the recommended oil grade i.e, 20W50. Also, some of you guys are suggesting to use Motul 5100 15W50, in this case also the grade is different. So I want to ask whether the different grade will cause any harm to the engine or not.
Sorry for the late reply I wasn't able to connect to the forum for some reason.

Now coming to the point, no a small difference like that in the grade of oil will not do any harm to the engine. I have friends who use this oil and they have no negative thing to share about it. As long as you don't go into the mountain areas like Leh/Ladakh then you won't have any problem using the Motul 5100. It's any day better than the stock DTSi oil.

You can remove those plastic caps with the help of some pliers. Take the pliers and grip the caps parallel to them. Just as you would pull out a screw, gently pull it back and they should come off with a little effort.

Top tip: After removing the saree guard put the screws back in where they originally were to avoid losing them.

          Cheers!

Could be that your battery connection is loose. Or the battery is low on power.
Pls try to check it or get it charged and see if it works alright.

            Cheers.

                        Hello Harsh,

Well said... I just went to SVC and inquired regarding teflon coating.
Guess what they said...don't do 3M teflon coating...instead they offered me some cheap wax coat.
                        I simply deny
