So guys... My OBD2 adapter came from eBay... ELM 327.. and

I connected it right away and it works fine.. Our ecu gives out the basic parameters.. But not all of them though

What I get from the adapter, using torque app
Vacuum pressure, speed, coolant temperature(very precise I guess), throttle position.

    What I can't make work

Rpm(doesn't work on duke either, some issue with protocol or decoding I guess)
    Fuel amount
    0-60 or 0-x time
    Quarter/half mile time

One funny thing is that.. The app has a map feature, showing our route precisely, and the path indicated with average GPS speed.. Still we don't get the distance parameter from ecu.. Maybe there's a workaround.. I'll try to figure it out..
It's pretty good for 400 bucks I'd say..

      Thanks

On highways, at 100 kmph while holding the throttle constant for as ling as I can (ie, no sudden thrusts/linear acceleration), I got ~ 33 kmpL. This was during a 500 km ride (covered in a single day with break in between)

Bro can you try this with your RS200?

Fill up the tank to brim, fill the tyres 5 PSI above recommend pressure, and drive 90% on the highway with gear shifts at 4000-4500 rpm, minimal acceleration, and check the mileage once the tank is empty. I bet you will get above 45 kmpl.

Mate which cable are you using to connect that ELM obd adapter to the bike?

Also the map feature is probably pulling data from the GPS in the phone, not the bike. Our bike doesn't have a GPS module as far as I know. Cheers.

I'm not using a cable.. I soldered the terminals of elm with male edged wires.. And push those edges into the OBD2.. Just 4 wires.. And another thing.. The 12v supply at OBD2 is on even when there is no key..

Nice work. Can you post a pic of how you attached the wires?

Yes the power from the battery is needed to keep the clock running properly, also to diagnose any problems that may arrive and if the bike doesn't start so the diagnostic tool when attached can get information from the bike.

It's pretty much easy.. I have masked all the wires with insulating tape.. So I can't post a pic right away

                But to explain

                Just 4 wires

From the elm, get the circuit diagram(pin diagram) online.. I'll get it for you if you can't get it..

Connect vcc to the red obd2 wire

                Ground to the black one

CAN high to middle wire blue..
                CAN LOW to yellow wire..

                That's it

                Cheers

Very nice ! See if your can make a video out of it. No one has ever done one with the RS 200 as far as I can see.. also is there any one which fits directly? Without any wire mods like you did ?

My apologies there are videos online..
Kindly share the link, I'll buy one too.

Yes you can buy a cable from dothediy
.com that fits directly into the bike at one end and into the ELM OBD adapter on the other end.

                    Cheers!

I wish there was a direct wire like that. Any idea what's it called ? I can't find any online because I don't know what's it called . Also I hope it's as simple as it is in that video.. I hope to do the same thing they did on that bike to mine. Direct plug n play

hahaha... that's too much to ask bro! I had a hard time strictly maintaining 5k rpm, I don't think I have the patience to maintain 4-4.5k rpm on highways.

On a serious note, I was scared half the time while riding at max speed of 67 kmph on highways because of so many errant bikes/cars/trucks/lorries zooming past me dangerously. Half my concentration was on the RVMs to ensure nobody hits me from behind. Very personally, I feel safer riding at 80 kmph than at 65 kmph on highways.

On the last point, is it just me or do others feel the same too?

Yes, it's a common feeling with today's vehicles being faster and more reliable, the average speeds on 4 lane highways are around 100 kmph. Anything below that, you tend to look in the mirror a lot, for fear of fast moving cars ramming you from behind.

Totally agree. In certain instances, speed is indeed our best friend, especially on the manic road conditions of our country. Better to get away from the big bad multi-wheeled bullies that prowl the roads.

Guys regarding the OBD2 unit, my friend had ordered one from eBay and it had the same issue of not showing the rpm and some details on his KTM.. but the funny thing was... He tried it on his other vehicles and it was still not visible.. he thought it was a fake one.. is it possible they're selling fakes at cheaper rates ? Or is it a coincidence that all the cars he tried on didn't show other sensor information?
